The Ben Stiller Show (1992–1995)
Has its moments
8 February 2004
This seems, at times, to be the work of complete amateur. There are only a couple of consistently humorous episodes. This show is a mix of bad ideas, good ideas played out poorly, and the occasional gem. I definitely think they could have rid the show of the guest host segment (apologies to Colin Quinn). The DVD is worth it, if only for the odd sketches like Andy Dick disarming a bomb, Melrose Heights, and Oliver Stoneland. Still my favorite: Counting with Bruce.

Eek! The Cat (1992–1997)
Simply genius
23 January 2004
Eek is amongst one of my favorite cartoons of all time. It is the epitome of physical violence. Eek, a fat purple cat, lives for one thing - helping others. The show is based upon disproving Eek's mantra, "It never hurts to help." Of course, all Eek's pains go entirely unnoticed by his bratty family.

This show is a work of genius simply because it takes a character that we're taught to be like, a cat with an altruistic nature straight from the bible (KUMBAYA!), and pits him against modern problems, obviously greatly exaggerated for effect. The genius is in the simplicity of this. Of course, this simplicity can only make so many episodes, and so Eek soon joined with The Terrible Thunderlizards (think Garfield and US Acres), and the Eek segments were shorter. Once this happened, Eek was no longer quite as good. Still, it was a brand of humor that has never been very well replicated, which is unfortunate. We need more cartoons like this.

Kid Notorious (2003)
Delightful to some, definitely not a hit
1 November 2003
I am one who finds this show funny. However, it is not the laugh-out-loud kind of humor that is so common to Comedy Central. This network tends not to produce shows that have something for everyone, each of its shows has a limited audience. I, for one, can not tolerate most of the stand-up comics, and I don't really find Reno-911 that funny.

Many of the jokes in Kid Notorious are stiff, but those that do manage to go over get a chuckle out of me. Not a great show, definitely not as hit, but I do find it enjoyable.

The Lost Boys (1987)
7/10
Sweet, sweet goodness
17 September 2003
This movie is one that, I find, is neither as good or as bad as most people say. I really like this movie, but I'm not going to say it's one of the best I've ever seen. On the other hand, people should not come on this site saying bad stuff about this (or any) movie, which they "saw on tv". I mean, when has there EVER been a good cut of a movie on tv? Television always butchers movies, and this one is no exception (and, yes, mullets were once in. It was called the 80's. Look into it).

The Lost Boys is kind of like the family horror flick. It's not really scary, nor was it meant to be. It just deals with the traditional horror figures of vampires in a fun way, as juvenile delinquents. So rent it, try it out. If not for Coreyx2, do it for Kiefer Sutherland. He really makes this movie.

Blood Work (2002)
1/10
An example of the detritus that is Hollywood
20 August 2002
This was a terrible adaption of the great book by brilliant author Michael Connelly. Hollywood producers felt that they had to change a few aspects of the story, including the ending, some of the clues, some character occupations, actions taken by McCaleb, some of the people killed, and the killer. All in all, it was a thoroughly illogical movie, with none of the better elements of the excellent novel. I reccomend that everyone avoid this movie at all costs, and read the book instead. It is immensly better.

Don't forget the cannoli.
