A Time Called You (2023– )

I was so invested until I watch episode...
18 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
10! Why would Jun-hee tell anyone about the time travel? I could not get over how stupid that was to do! Then, for Si-heon to fight Chan-yeong, a crazy man and try to rationalize in between blows. It dawned on me then that they all were going to die because they were just painfully stupid. He went through time, literally, to be with her. Only to be killed in the blink of an eye because he had to ask why versus incapacitating a psychopath. I was thinking this is such a beautiful, and tragic, love story to thinking what a bunch of idiots! Also there's the fact, that Ig-hyu Said he did something he didn't do. Had he not done that almost years ago, maybe the police would have looked a little harder. I went from being excited to watching the middle, or getting to the middle of episode 10, to being so angry and disappointed over the sheer and utter stupidity of it all. Ughhhhhh.....

I'm only in episode 4 but I'm loving it
12 December 2023
Honestly it seems lone of the many K-dramas I've watched before. Different actors same premise. Nevertheless, it's quite enjoyable. To be quite honest my only pet peeve, because I can see the ending my mind, is the fact that their supposed to be pushing 40, yet they're behaving like 20 somethings. I recognize that's the script, unfortunately, the childlike behavior is the only thing throwing me off. Like I said in my mind. I already know what's going to happen with everyone from her mother, to her sisters, to the guy. If it's anything other than what I'm thinking I will put another review at the end of the series. I'm beginning to wonder if K-dramas are being dished out too often because the more I watch this, the more it feels like deja vu.

Naked and Afraid: City Slickers in the Wild (2023)
Season 16, Episode 2

Poor Chev
17 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I would have given it a one if it were not for him. He carried that delusional Elsa until he couldn't walk anymore on his cut up feet. He should have known he was doomed when she started crying and had to sit down before. They could make it to the camp site. They had no predators. They had no real issues except for a few thorns and the heat. And she was not having any of it. Then instead of helping create the shelter, she needed to meditate and lie down for twenty minutes. She kept saying how she wanted to be one with nature. And the idea of being naked was just like a dream come true because she was fine with her body and that doing this was like a dream come true because she had lived in New York and there was no challenge she could not face. I don't think i've ever seen among delusional and useless partner. Apparently the only thing New Yorkers can do is live in New York york. Poor Chev was the anchor that was sinking because Elsa was pulling him down.

Lee Yeon was worried about the wrong things.
15 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This one was too comical. Also, for someone who searched for 600 years for his first, and only parent, he seemed to have the thought of getting back to the present last, always. I understand loving your brother and wanting to fix some things but he literally let the life he'd pray for slip away once. Honestly, I believed he would do it a second time at the end. He seemed indifferent on season 1. In this season, he cared a little too much about everything and everyone resulting in colossal mistakes. He allowed the original mountain god to return (bad guy) because he didn't want to kill the bad guy. He couldnt forget their childhood together soe he almost died, his brother almost died and his brother's girl, not to mention countless others who did die. He also just left a mess behind in 1938 and created one for the present. I think 2 seasons is enough.

I don't get Addison
8 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
My god daughter loves the show and I just happened to watch 2 and this one. The character Addison just doesn't seem to be loyal to anyone except herself. When Zed Hit the moonstone because he loved her and didn't want to lose her. She was done with him for a group of people that was willing to lie and hurt anyone that got in their way. Then this corny story gets even more outrageous, yes I know it's for children, when she finds out she's an alien. Zed worked so hard to get into the same school with her so they could stay together. Then as soon as she found out the alien people needed her to travel home, she didn't hesitate, she didn't blink. She didn't give it any thought. She told him "peace out" pretty much and said I'm going with them. I would hope no no young person would think she's the greatest. When she returned, I'm sure it was because her "alien" said it was fine. Zed is like that dumb guy that does everything for a girl and gets dumped 10 years down the line.

Could have been better
9 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Jamie was the star and heroine. When she, accidentally, went back in time, she was just dumber than the kids in the 80s. At some point, she had to realize everything that she knew in 2023, was unknown then. It was entertaining BUT lacking in so many areas. The 80s killer was unreal. He had Michael Myers strength. As maby times as he was bashed on the head, he never faltered. Then the copycat killer was 45/50 and took a butcher knife to the cheat like it was nothing.

Extremely unrealistic. It just seems like some things were overlooked in an attempt to make a flick. Also, it is rely time for Keirnan Shipka to play adult roles. This is not me trying to bash but she looks aged.

Git better once I watched it in Korean.

Warning: Spoilers
I think my biggest issue other than the language was that for Han to be a former police profiler,he couldn't defend himself. He got caught a lot due to a lack of common sense. Nevertheless, his character, while quirky, was entertaining. As for Jae-hui, I can't fathom how she was considered an expert at solving crimes. She truly seem to lack common sense. Han was truly good at what he did as a profiler. It sucked that he was framed and forced to serve time for a crime he didn't commit. The only other issue I had was the casting. Jae-hui should have been at least 5 years younger than Han, yet she looked at least 4 to 5 years older than him. All in all, I still enjoyed the series.

The Uncanny Counter: Episode #2.12 (2023)
Season 2, Episode 12
7/10
Anti-climatic ending
3 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Finally watched the last episode today. All the Counters need to die. Had it not been for Mr Ma willing to sacrifice himself, all of them would be dead. Their desire to save everyone, at the risk of anyone, is just beyond me. The true highlight was the fact that it is suggested that the bad guy, Pil-gwang, will probably find a way back. When he was being sent through the door to hell, he made a comment about since there was a door it, opens both ways. Also, unlike all the other evil spirits, he ran through the door. That seemed to surprise So-Mun and Wi-gen. Another surprise was when So-mun traveled and was speaking perfect english. I was shocked and pleased. We were introduced, along with Wi-gen, to her daughter Jade. Maybe she'll be a part of season 3. OMG! One other thing! They seem to be keeping the sniffing puker and they gave everyone a KPop haircut. I have no idea why.

Much better episode
2 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
One of the best episodes by far! The acting was great. If the sniffer/puker was there, it would have been perfect. As hard as I try, I just don't like him. He is absolutely useless. He'll smell something, somewhere, and start panicking, crying and vomiting. Mo-tak's anger at the situation So Moon was so warranted. So moon reminds me of Superman. He'll risk everything to save a soul. That of course isn't always the answer. Mr. Ma showed he was still alive in his subconscious but Pil-gwang is vicious. My favorite m, and probably the saddest scene was when Ma-tok punched So-Moon. So-Moonnis so laser focused on saving Mr Ma that he is overlooking the damage he is doing. I can't wait to see the final episode.

The Uncanny Counter: Episode #2.10 (2023)
Season 2, Episode 10

Good but could be better..
1 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I have really enjoyed season 2. My primary pet peeves are:

1) they will stop chasing a bad guy in a heartbeat, so they can ALL come together to see if ONE of them is okay.

2) that ridiculous new member who walks around sniffing and freaking out.

3) Pil-gwang has to be one of the sexiest bad guys, thus making him hard to hate.

4) why is the rich old counter fighting?

5) they expect us to believe that Mr Ma is 30?! The actor is 46 in reality and looks every bit of it and his blind rage is nauseating.

6) The team seems to be getting in So Moon's way at every turn.

I realize the baddies can't be wiped out immediately but these idiots' actions caused a lot more deaths in the interim. I hope the ending makes me happier than I am at episode 10 because Pil-gwang is so good at being bad, I'm completely on his side.

Blue Beetle (2023)
5/10
5 for special effects
28 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I just can't give DC anymore chances! This movie COULD HAVE BEEN amazing! However, it was so much unnecessary humor and punchlines. My husband also point pointed out to me some of the dialogue was racist. It was reminiscent of the the first Iron Man in that the beetle was the perfect suit but a big corporation wanted a military style killing machine. The beetle, Jaime (Hi-me) was a recent pre-law graduate who was chosen by the scarab (beetle). He apparently was book smart but had NO COMMON SENSE. The beetle's one function was the protect Jaime and neutralize any threat to him. However, Jaime wouldn't kill anyone. When he was being beaten nearly to death, his logic was to talk it out - literally. When his family was being shot at, he wanted to stun the enemy, who kept getting up, and eventually caused his father to have a fatal heart attack. His family killed everyone who got between them and rescuing him. Some of the "questionable" dialogue and scenes were....

1) When the bad guys came to his family's home, they were Hispanic, the bad guys, (the ones with the guns) told the head bad guy, a rich white woman, they found his family. She said "You know what to do! Round them up!".

2) Jaime went to the corporation, (bad guys) and told the white receptionist his name, "Hello my name is Jaime ( I can't remember his last name) and she said Jaime (Ja-mee). It seemed they did that to all the Hispanics in the movie.

3) The grandmother, who only spoke Spanish, turned out to be a former guerrilla rebel!

It just had me rooting for the bad guys. The only thing that made this movie tolerable was the special effects! Outstanding!

Other than that, save your money and wait for it to come on Max!

Never been so disappointed in an ending...
15 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this and got thoroughly invested. I laughed thanks to Habeak. He was a god, the king of gods, living on Earth. He wasnt used to thirst or hunger. Whenever, he was asked if he was hungry, he would hold his nose in the air abd say no. However, every time he heard the word "food" his stomach would grumble, very loudly. So-a was a lovely character. All the supporting cast. The love story was very organic. You could see it happening. My pet peeves were here and there. My main one was I have never seen so many people not use. , or not have, peripheral vision. There could be someone to the left of them, and they would NEVER see them. I've never seen such blind "gods". I have also never seen such an oblivious "psychiatrist". Anyway back to the title of my thread. At the end, Habeak had to go back to his realm. He couldnt stay. He had to leave the love of his life, So-a. However, So-a could make any wish, and it would come true. What did she wish for? To become a goddess or just be able to go back with him? No! She wished for him to stay with her until SHE died. She knew he'd never die. So they literally had FOREVER. However, she figured 40-50 years was enough. Then he'd mourn her! So disappointing 😞

Truly a beautiful love story
2 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
If it where not for Shan Zi's annoying voice and some things she did, this would be a 10 out of 10. It was written to pull at the heart strings. I actually found myself tearing up at times. Shan Zi's TRUE love foe Jiaxu was powerful and unwavering. Once he realized he had feelings for her, he was just as committed. My only issue with this story was the fact that Shan Zi sounded like a child AFTER they aged her to 16. The voice just bugged me. Also, while I know in other countries they are as out with their feelings. There is much PDA in Chinese or Korean movies. She just seemed to want to have emotional tie with him vs physical. I realize there was an age difference but even after they consummated their relationship, she seemed uncomfortable with the idea of intimacy. Also, when he did that beautiful proposal on the end, she appeared indecisive. Part of me felt as if she agreed, because she didn't say yes, but simply put her finger out for the ring, after EVERYONE gave her the hi-five. I know she loved him. She proved it throughout the series. I just felt like there was a disconnect regarding their physical relationship. I'm not saying sex but kissing or comfortably cuddling. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed it.

The low rating is because of the lack of common sense
10 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Bizarro attacked Otis and Lex Luthor in the previous episode. Mind you, Manheim supposedly gave Superman and the DOD all the information as to what he had done and where all of the supposed things, Bizarro included, were in order to save his son. How could Superman and the DOD not go and look for the body? They knew a collapse or cave in would not destroy him! As a result, Lex Luthor was able to get his hands on Bizarro! A Superman with the mentality, more or less, of Jordan! That's just so stupid. Also, I don't understand why Clark/Superman hasn't taken Jordan to the Fortress and simply stripped him of his powers! He's an immature, petulant child running around with powers and has no idea of the responsibility having them entails. The writing is just somewhat ridiculous regarding the season. Also, although it happened a couple of episodes before this one, eventually the entire town of Smallville will know Clark Kent's secret identity!

Pretty good but...
6 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It could have been better. I don't like the way Marco and Parker ended or the bouncing to Ben. Parker was Marco's, I guess, first love. Marco slowly realized that Parker was ashamed to be out in public with him because he was very out so to speak. Parker was openly gay but I think he was more accustomed to dating gay men versus queer. He made up an excuse to not go out and Marco immediately dumped him because he said he lied. Parker explained that everything was new to him, dating someone like Marco, and give him a chance. However Marco just dumped him and ran straight to Ben who was mad at him because he didn't know about Parker. That was rather ridiculous to me considering the only time Ben was ever open about his feelings was when he and Marco were high on Molly. I just saw all of that was rather ridiculous but then I had to remember Marco was 22. The rest of the cast was quite entertaining for the most part. Kim Cattrall had a whiff of 'Samantha Jones' but all grown up. She was so grown up she was stiff. Honestly, other than Marco's naisley voice and the way he, unrealistically, fell out of love with one and in with another at the blink of an eye, was the most unappealing part of the series. Well at least that's how I felt after watching episode 6. I haven't seen all of the episodes but I'm hoping, unless Parker comes out to be a real "Richard", I hope the two of them, Marco and him, end up together.

Pleasant surprise
24 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I must say I really enjoyed this movie. Initially, I thought I wasn't going to like it because the premise was for the best friend, Na Bo-ra (beautiful name) to keep tabs on this boy that her friend liked. Someone she didn't even know anything about. She just saw him and decided she liked them. The irony is she didn't even know his name. She saw her name on his jacket and assume that was him. Well, Bo-ra did is asked, and kept tabs on the boy. She ended up liking his best friend. I thought to myself this is perfect. Then her best friend comes back and lo and behold it's the best friend she likes. She didn't have their names correct. Instead of Bo-ra telling her the truth she pushed the boy away and tried to push your friend on him. Her friend eventually found out the truth and got mad at her for not being honest. Me too! However, I kept wondering something, I know she sent her friend an email saying who she liked. Lo and behold the friend and read the email. After she did she tried to clear up everything. Unfortunately the guy was leaving for Switzerland because he had no reason to fight his dad on the move because Bo-ra was just a little too immature, in my opinion. Anyway she told him before he got on a train to leave. She promised to wait for him and they were supposed to be together. Then all of a sudden he disappeared. He apparently, do the heartbreak and never knowing why he just disappeared, never found a new love. Then what I'm gathering, is approximately 20 years later, 15 to 20 years, his brother sends her a video that she had snuck out of her parents video store for him and invited her to a viewing at a gallery. There she finds out he died. It was sad but it helped her with closure. Now my only pet peeve with this movie is they did not say What happened to the boy! As I watched it, the only thing I could ask was what happened?! As a result, like her I'm left with no closure!

This episode made me want to stop watching
10 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Kim Geon-woo, Hong Woo-jin and Kim Myeong-gil we're moving all the money and gold from the bookstore. Why they didn't do it the same day they realized the bad guys knew about that location is beyond me. Nevertheless, Woo-Jin and Myeong use their mustang to stop the bad guy's van. The mustang is then totaled and wouldn't move. Geon-Woo who was ahead of them in an SUV saw everything and instead of backing up so they could jump in the car he takes the money out of the SUV and they dropped the bags of gold and run to him to get in the car. That was just the dumbest scene I have ever seen in a movie in my entire life. I love Korean films although sometimes I think they do some really dumb things. However after this scene, it's going to take everything in me to watch this series all the way through because they're no words for the sheer stupidity of it. It would have been smarter for them just to come back to the bookstore where the money and gold were originally held and find out the bad guys just took it versus them just dropping it and leaving it there for them.

One of my favorite westerns that didn't include Clint!
24 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not going to lie! When I think of westerns, I think of Clint Eastwood. However this has to be one of my favorite. Terrence Hill and Henry Fonda were great. "Nobody" seems so childish and oblivious to the world around him. All the while this character was ingenious. He wanted to make a name for himself, although he chose not to give himself a name. His logic was to defeat Jack Beauregard! However, first he wanted Jack Beauregard to go down in history for doing something so incredible, no one would ever think to go up against him, except Nobody! He set the stage for Jack to go up against the legendary Wild Bunch. 150 cowboys who worked in unison. Jack, with Nobody all up in his head, and to the left of him, watching, did just that. Afterwards, the two staged a gunfight where it appeared Jack lost. On his tombstone it read "No one was faster than Jack Beauregard except Nobody". You have got to love the irony! Jack was able to retire without looking over his shoulder every 5 seconds and Nobody became infamously famous, always looking over his shoulder, as he wanted. This silly/corny Western was just so darn entertaining! Terence Hill with his comedic presence and Henry Fonda stoic through the entire movie. The two meshed perfectly to make this a true classic! This movie is enjoyable for children, teens and adults alike. Definitely a must see. Once you watch it, you'll want to watch it again and again.

Special effects saved this from being a ZERO!
22 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
One of the most poorly written scripts I've seen in a long time. I cannot get over how incredibly stupid the writing is on this movie. If it were not for the special effects, the movie wouldn't even get three rating. There was one point in the movie that this guy, Will, what's going back to the island in a rubber raft. He got attacked by the shark so one of his friends said that she was going to go in and get him. She tied a rope to herself and told her friend to hold the other end. Another friend came up yet she did not help them pull them in. She just screamed at them. She did not help the girl pull their friends to shore. Then of course the shark showed up and bit the girl who tried to save the guy. The one girl on shore who was trying to pull them in, by herself, got her foot tangled in a rope and of course she died too. Then the friend who just was standing there watching the other girl pull, just stands there and can't believe what she saw while the guy is dragging himself to shore missing his leg. I can't talk about how ridiculous the rest of the movie was but this should give you an idea of why not to watch this movie, ever! Also, the actor that played Will, I can't remember his name, has been in quite a few decent movies. I'm assuming this is a sign his career is over.

Our Beloved Summer (2021–2022)

I haven't finished but....
9 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm only on episode 6 but I just feel as though I can write my review. I have a habit, of reading the synopsis of every episode at the beginning. I watch the first couple of episodes and then form an opinion what I hope will happen and then I read the synopsis to see if I really want to watch it all the way to the end.

I'm not going to lie I didn't like the girl, Yeong-Sung, I'm probably spelling it wrong. I realize she had inner demons and I realized she was driven, honestly to just take care of her grandmother. Nevertheless, I just did not like the way she treated Ung. He appeared silly and immature but he wore his heart on his sleeve. He couldn't hide his feelings to a blind man. They were both 19 when they met and probably 24 or 25 when they broke up. His actions told you he loved this girl and would do anything and everything for her. Sadly, her problems, her issues, made him, in my opinion, more of a burden than an asset, in her mind.

Here they are now, both 29 or 30 and she's still trying to get there, and he's there. I'm referring to their success. It was interesting, and infuriating to me, that he loves her. No matter how hard, and ugly she was to him when she broke his heart. My hope is that they reconcile their feelings and move on. There were obviously other women that liked him for him but you could tell there was only one woman for him. If I'm wrong about the ending then oops but I genuinely believe they're going to end up back together and I just think he deserves better and I think she needed different.

I was screaming at this chick!
30 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Mi-rea, when she believed she was ugly and no one could ever like her, she put herself out there. She put herself out there for a jerk and he crushed her! Then she has the plastic surgery, and every girl's dream, in this show, Kung-soeuk, it's so obvious about his feelings that everyone, except her acknowledges it. She made me so mad. I honestly wanted her to be miserable for the rest of her life. I realize it's coming from a place where she never thought she was pretty so she's very insecure. With that being said, she is like the second most prettiest girl in the college, supposedly, and she still doesn't understand how anyone would like her. She figures because she had the plastic surgery no one likes her now. The irony is the guy couldn't even understand why she had the surgery. He even told herself. I know everything has a happy ending but, oh my gosh, the road to this happy ending annoyed me so much! Nevertheless it had me sucked in because I was waiting for her to stop being a dingbat.

I enjoyed it but....
28 March 2023
For 30 something woman, Duk-mi was just entirely too immature and naive. As for him, Ryan Lord, a man in his mid to late 30s, he was just so dainty and prissy. She wasn't woman enough, mature enough, and he is missing so much testosterone. Her dorky friend Mr. Nam, although quite boyish, seen the more manly been Mr Gold aka the Lion! The interfering want to be more than friends or more, how can you say it, to the point and forthright. The two main characters just dantce around each other so much. It's honestly something I expected out of middle school children. Some romantic comedies need a dose of maturity. This one needed an entire bottle full. Nevertheless, still enjoyed it.

Well-rounded love story
6 March 2023
I'm surprised I actually enjoyed this one! I've been really getting in to Korean romcom but there's always been something, something that was missing. This one engaged all of the characters instead of just the main two or three. I loved how the the big city girl fell for the hometown boy. I love how you got to meet everybody in his hometown. I even love the fact that they brought in people from the big city, Seoul. Like I said it was well-rounded. I think my only disappointment was a moment with the heroine in this story. She disappointed me a little. While I do understand it was all a part of the journey, the love journey, I was still somewhat upset with her. When he, the hero of this love story, needed her most she pulled away. It was like she needed everyone else to tell her or guide her on the right path. I do realize it was part of her growth, nevertheless it was somewhat disappointing. However, in the end everything worked out as it should.

My Holo Love (2020)
8/10
Very convoluted
3 March 2023
The creator of "Holo" is so angry and better it's almost nauseating. The girl, who's the tester of Holo is so clingy and unsure that is almost torture to watch. I understand this is the making of a good love story, especially a Korean love story, but come on! Then, I'm not going to lie, I'm sick of the men having on more makeup than the women. You don't even need to go too far in this series to see where it's headed. The creator, because he has mommy issues creates an AI that has formed a friendship with someone other than him. As a result, he's angry and jealous. He forgot how to love and doesn't want anyone else to love. He can't come or doesn't want to be, happy. As a result, the idea of anyone else being happy, just makes him angry and even more better. Eventually, you know he's going to fall in love. You know he's going to soften. He and the girl are actually a perfect match. She's desperate for love, she's insecure and unsure and 25 going on 12. Eventually, both of their simplistic minds will click. You just have to have the patience to watch from beginning to end to see it. Fyi, it's so difficult.

Sends wrong message to little girls
25 February 2023
My 5 year old daughter likes the show. I have watched a few episodes on occasion but one weekend I just sat down and we had a marathon. While I think the kids, teens, are cute, I don't like the heroin, Marinette/Ladybug. Without the mask, she is clumsy and unsure of herself. She doesn't believe in herself at all. While I do understand teens go through this phase, I hate the fact that the only time she believes in herself is when she wears a mask. I don't want my little girl growing up thinking the only way to be brave or the only way that she's strong enough to speak up is if she's wearing a mask.
