Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003)
This is oh sooo good!!!!
I liked it so much! It was so exciting! Even if it lasts nearly 2 hours and a half, you never get a look to your watch, because there's always something going on. Everything is so accurate: from the ships to the details of the costumes. All the actors are very VERY good, Johnny Deep is SOO good and Geoffry Rush too: I liked Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom a lot too. The story is interesting and there are some twists and turns that always keep your attention to what's happening on screen. I think I'm gonna see it again during the next days.
Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (2003)
If you liked 'The Naked Gun'...
Let's be frank: this is a parody of series like 'CSI' or movies like '007', just to name a few; much more like 'The Naked Gun' or 'Hot Shots' than like a real movie with a real plot. It was made just to have fun, and maybe more for the fun of the people working on it, than for the fun of the people watching it. So, let's just take it as it is: if you want some mindless fun, go for it; if you are looking for some action, with a story that makes sense, better go to see some other movie.
Phone Booth (2002)
It ends just before getting too boring
***Spoilers Ahead*** Ok, ok, I already knew that a movie with a man stuck in a phone booth with some cuckoo telling him what to do and say could be boring, but I was with a friend and she really wanted to see it. I agreed only because I like Kiefer Sutherland as actor, even if I don't think Colin Farrel is neither cute or a good actor (actually, I can't stand him). The only thing worth the money was Sutherland voice, soo deep and sexy - you do not really pay a lot of attention to the voices if you see the faces too, I pay more attention to woman voice's - don't know why. Regarding the rest of the movie...thank God is not too long and about the moralistic part...who cares if Stu wants to have sex with the girl? He had just some thoughts, but he did not do it. If we all have to be punished for what we think, nobody could walk free!!! Who cares if he is a liar? He's in PR, people are supposed to know that he's lying!! If I was alone, I would have left after one hour...and I would have lost nothing, because at the end there is no surprise (c'mon, did you really believed that the killer was the pizza man? And that Stu was really shot to death?)
Thank God, I had discount tickets.
Femme Fatale (2002)
Just a waste of money?
I am a long term fan of Brian de Palma, but this movie left me disappointed (and not just a little bit!). Is too boring and too slow. Except from the very beginning of the movie, the first hour leaves you wondering "do I have to stay or do I have to go home?" and praying for something to happen, but by the end of the movie you get used to it (I hope your cinema armchair is comfortable...). More, is full of visionary situations that make you try to understand what in the earth the director was willing to say...without any possibility to be sure of the answer!! Two stars (and I've been generous)
The Unsaid (2001)
Andy Garcia is great
Andy Garcia is acting great in his movie and the boy which is his patient too (he reminded me of Edward Norton's great performance in "Primal Fear") but... before the movie reached the first hour of running I already knew the end. Such a pity for movie that started so good... Three stars.
