Long and unnecessary...
12 September 2019
Had high hopes for this drama, but nothing but disappointments. Good cinematography thus the two stars, yet a lacking story and bad main actors... Dragging a one episode storyline for 20 episodes with no real developments. Show is like putting icing on a poop cake... the core is total trash.

Awful Sci-Fi... nothing but a fast money grab...
14 March 2011
Warning: Spoilers
I went to the theater with high expectations of this film, hoping it to be an epic disaster themed sic-fi film. But what I got was a horribly plotted, old, and visually abysmal sic-fi money grab of a film. Many parts of the story felt scattered and the logical aspect of the sic-fi just fell apart with non-sense. It felt like the work of some half-baked director/script writer straight from a bad art school. The spaceships look like junkyard put-together. The constant flashing of the scenes hurt your eyes, not entertain. Compared to something like "Avatar", this film should not even be released, it is a total disaster itself. The story tried very hard to create a sense of war heroes, but ended up feeling like repenting and fulfilling personal grudges in a paradox. The visual aspect of this film is unbelievably bad. The most realistically created elements includes the grenade, the machine guns and the smoke. The aliens are a joke, if they have such high technology, why can they not even aim and they shoot machine guns too...

Awful... worst drama ever by Geyou.
5 February 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Following the profit-successful first "If You are the One" film, Feng brings us this half-baked mess of a mixture once again depicting GeYou's contemporary Chinese drama style. For someone who lived in China through the most recent 20 years of fast Chinese economic evolution, the film does represent some of the satirical elements that most Chinese viewers and many who have a good understanding of reality Chinese culture would find negatively plausible. But it is getting really old and over saturated already after the first film, making this extended story totally scattered and unnecessary. The worst part of this film being the ending, the pre-death funeral that took place before the suicide of the character depicted by the wrong chosen actor Honglei, a long and unnecessary ending killing the story with nonsense. Other than the ending, many satirical moments which could have been great in the movie ended up being very shallowly plotted. This is a failure of a fast money-grab feature, lives barely on the inertia of the success of the first "If You are the One" film.

One of the best animated films ever! in IMAX 3D
15 October 2010
At first, I wasn't convinced that this is going to be a worthwhile feature. But I'm glad I was wrong. For someone with some expertise in the field of animation, I have to say I am amazed at some of the technology that is presented in this IMAX 3D film. Astonishing, I have to say. I'm not too fond of tales and owls, but the story in this film was actually quite enjoyable. Some parents might argue with the teachings of the storyline, but I don't think that should hinder this amazing feature in any way. I believe this film to be enjoyable by both kids and adults of any age. It's simply a visual feast. This film foresees some of the once unthinkable difficulties in computer rendering technology, which has a lot of great potential in future animated films.

Truly wonderful story, humorously narrated
2 April 2008
For someone like me, born and raised in China in a poor family, Chow's work was absolutely fantastic! CJ-7 constantly reminds me of those poorly happy times I have spent with my friends and family during my childhood, flashing to my mind those very basic and simplistic values of living to an average Chinese boy like myself. Nostalgic with a touch of humor, to me this movie is simply a 10 star hit! But, viewing it from a more literal perspective, people will see this work as "the same old stuff"... over and over again... that is true, from the use of mo lei tau comedy to computer CG, Chow has not made any improvements not to mention innovation ever since his "Shaolin Soccer" world class movie debut. This generally deducted the 2 stars from the rating.

But compared with a lot of the 3rd rated movies released in 2008 out there, this is sure worth the time!

Absolutely awful!
30 March 2008
I felt like watching a 1969 Sci-fi movie through out the whole time... The computer generated portion of this movie is absurd and out-dated.

The actors and actress mostly seemed like they are unprofessionally trained especially their voice acting. It felt like they are trying to act like they are acting, which is the most disastrous phenomena you can have in a movie.

I couldn't stand finishing the movie after seeing the laboratory and the scientists that totally disgusted me with their fake acting. Compared with Independence Day, Matrix or any other Sci-Fi movies, this is the absolutely WORST! Do not waste your time and money on this!

Wonderfully animated!
29 March 2008
This 10 million dollar project paid off with the most advanced 3D anime rendering technologies with many features not presented in animes ever. A worthwhile experience even though the storyline was not as exciting as that of Matrix or Star Wars. The texturing of the characters moved on to real-time 3D instead od classic animation of anime. This feature was presented in Final Fantasy movies, but that's a different level of High Dynamic Rendering as well as post filtration of texils. The most amazing part might be the rendering of the metal worms used in the movie, which is real-time particalized with physics processors. This might not be an astonishing feature to those who own 8800 Ultra graphics cards in Sli for gaming, but as for a movie and the dust particles, it's beyond your reach.
