Extraterrestrial (2014)
Could be more intelligent
The basis was sound and I enjoyed most of the action, but it would have been factual (as it tried to be) if the aliens were not physically malicious. It is a well known premise amongst the knowledgeable that alien abductions have the backing of the US government in exchange for advanced technology (as stated in the movie) although in the all cases of alien abduction no one has been physically harmed. In the movie the aliens had no weapons and ran around waiting to be shot, which seemed a little unusual and slightly imbecilic, I presume there was a tight budget. It would be nice to see a truly intelligent movie based on facts. The ending was true to life - the real bad boys are the US government.
Out on a Limb (1987)
Speaking as a medium for 40 years I can identify with this movie
This true story is an excellent movie that took a lot of guts by Shirley Maclaine to admit to, for her career and possible sanity were questionable after its release. I have been a physic for 40 years and can testify that in my experience the content is accurate. I know there are two types of entity with whom I can communicate. In this movie it only explores the possibility of Alien interaction with our lives and the benefits that can have. The early part of the story concentrates more on her relationship with a British Government official and the love affair that results. This is a good, rather bland "ordinary life" contrast to the almost surreal action that follows.
