Another terrible remake of a previously well dome original.
13 November 2022
I have nothing against the actors. What my low rating is about the idea of doing such a poor copy of something done well about a decade ago by Poppy Montgomery. I never saw this actress before. Perhaps she's better than she is in this crap movie. Some dialogue is identical, others bits are different and far worse. Oh, and by the way...Marilyn (Norma Jean) Monroe was never tan. That was not the sign of beauty in the 1940-1950s. That's just one stupid thing about this crap remake. Plus they even used the same damn photo of the guy supposed to be her father from the first movie! Find a copy of the original with Poppy Montgomery and do yourself a favor.

If this is what passes for entertainment, what a huge waste of money.
24 August 2022
I'm watching the last part of this episode. I understand it's tough to begin any series and some stumble before they rise. However, everything from cinematography to what they chose to show is appealing. The costumes were okay except for the Gold Cloak Targaryen whose jousting costume was horrible. He had bat wings on his head, not dragon. Plus everything looked plastic. All the hype and waiting for this? I'll give it a few episodes to figure itself out. However, if it stays like this, I'm gone. I'll go back to watching the first few seasons of Game of Thrones again which was great until they had to figure out the ending fat boy Martin was too lazy to write and lied for years about it. Think about what the money spent on this compared to how that same money could have been used to feed the hungry legitimate citizens of America. But that's another story that also has no ending. Why others gave it such high ratings? They must be the same who took over Minneapolis, San Francisco, and Seattle to name but a few.

Usually love the work of Del Toro, but how are these ordinary people indestructible???

Warning: Spoilers
All positives about the cinematography, costumes, sets, and special effects. It's the story that I have a really hard time disbelieving long enough to enjoy this film. Especially at the end when everyone is being stabbed or falling of a very high balcony. An already very sickly, frail woman is pushed off the top story balcony, falls over twenty feet after bouncing on her back (breaking the arm rail in the process) and falls flat on her face onto a small pile of snow in the middle of the hallway. Guess what? She has a broken shin! Nope! No broken back or anything that might resemble what would/could happen in such a fall....and that's just one of the crazy bits. Knives going through bone as if they were butter, and on and on. Such potential wasted by everyone making decisions. What a waste and it's still decent enough to watch more than once. Go figure?

Amazing movie on every level, but one.....
24 March 2022
Honestly, I truly do love this movie and all the performers in it. Everything is exceptionally well done from cinematography to the acting and everything in between. However, put aside all the wonderfulness about this movie and cut right into the heart of the subject. It's a spoiled rich boy never told no. Obsessing about revenge for his wife's death by his competitor's arrogance. And especially refusing to accept the simple answer everyone was telling him. These key bits are crafted into an engaging story about obsession, revenge, competition, and the level of sacrifices only the best are willing to make to be the best.

One of the worst episodes in large pile. As a season finale? Horrible!
2 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Nothing gets me more riled up than when a show with rules and continuity chooses to ignore everything it spent two seasons building and enforcing. Why couldn't they bring Nathan back with Clair's blood? How can someone unaffected by death, be brainwashed? Mrs. Petrelli's character is great when not just being ruthless, heartless, and conniving. Why did they always say the 'Company' began with Petrelli and Linderman? Wouldn't it have begun with Kensai? He had the ability of healing and immortality beginning in 1671, right? Linderman has the power of healing. Only one person was healed by him.... Nathan's wife. Didn't anyone think Sylar's brain would return to its 'normal' state? I could go on picking this show apart, but I'll end here.

Could Zack Snyder fix this, too?
17 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Wrong universe, I know, but perhaps as long as it is, there story filmed was much longer and got butchered in editing like Justice a league did? Otherwise, it's a wasteland of those who were in Hollywood, to those who want to be, to those who never will. Sad to say, but it seems like Kit Harrington was cursed by the end of GoT. Also, since I'm not a Marvel or DC comic reader. Are the Eternals supposed to be the forerunners of all the Marvel superheroes? From Prof. X to Quicksilver to Dr. Strange and on and on. It was nice to see Salma Hayek again in a big budget film even if it is not well done. Angelina Jolie as corrupted is a bit of type casting isn't it? She was much better in Wanted and many other action films. And why Greek Mythology of ALL the Mythos in the world? If from the comics, that was still pretty short-sighted and very limited. And how about all that Bollywood in this movie? How pathetic.

And???
15 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This show ended like a jet plane trying to land without wings. It crashed. So much skipped over just to have an ending could be worse than getting cancelled without an ending. Loved Sissy Spacek's acting, but if there was a storyline other than we're screwed and everything is gone. Oh, and by the way...Kevin, his wife, and their baby boy Rocky have been caught and heading back to the USA for trial. Who would dumb enough to even take a cellphone, let alone have one with a tracker app turned on running from the Feds?? The episode stank especially as a series conclusion. Seems like the show was planning on at least another season was intended, but those geniuses at Netflix, allowed this one of their few good shows drop.

Warning: Spoilers
John has had the mental and emotional baggage of his twisted family on his shoulders for about 35 years. His (John) killing of his own brother who felt he (Danny) had nothing left to lose but to blackmail his own family, especially his mother into being held accountable for something serious since they blamed Danny for everything. Danny has a son he wanted to care for as we learned. His kid was told nothing but terrible stories and learned several things on his own about his dad (Danny). Danny gave up his succeeding restaurant in favor of his son because papa Rayburn made him choose. Was papa right in forcing this choice? I guess that depends on who you are and how you were brought up, right? Ronny then thinks by burning down the restaurant, dad would get insurance money. Now THAT was stupid. Only in Florida could a teenager not know that any sign of arson would not get a pay out. Did Danny even have insurance on the physical property? These are just a tiny few things screwed up with the Rayburn clan who should have never been a family in the first place. John finally cracked and they did a piss poor job of trying to show how the past and the present collide by making this pointless episode. Spend the money and make this into two episodes one from the past and one from the present to show what it's all about and how John got to where he is. What follows is the series finale, and other than great acting by Sissy Spacek, that episode would have been more pointless than it already was.

You can leave your hat on.
28 December 2021
I've played that song by Joe Cocker for decades, but never imagined it with Kim Basinger dancing sexily. All reviews have been written and even though I'm an old fart. I never watched this u til today 12/27/2021. Go figure? What was so hot about the refrigerator scene? All I ever heard was about that scene. What a let down. It was fun, funny, and sexy, but not at all like the hype. What bothers me most about the whole thing? The fact that actress Laura San Giacomo was in this movie as one of the workers/friends with Basinger and even has a photo on here, but NO SCREEN CREDIT! WTF? It was a bit part, but it's through the entire movie, not much more minor than Margaret Whitton. Loved her in Secret of My Success. It stinks when any actor speaks and is seen multiple times, then gets no credit at the end with everyone else as if she didn't matter enough for a screen credit. Even in 1986 Hollywood film makers were lame.

More proof the younger generations from every background have no originality or creativity.
28 December 2021
The kids in this seem to be typical of the youngest generations. They are clueless and always afraid. Everything makes them angry no matter what the source. Death of a parent is not a cause for being an a-hole kid. Why did Uma decide to do this film? Why the fake French accent in Ohio as the cars license plate said in red letters? I hope these young ladies are not what Hollywood is banking on for future revenue. Plenty of B lost talent here, but everyone has forgotten how to make a truly scary film because the kids and adults have been so desensitized by real life violence and murder. I agree with another review that said a cast like in the movie The Craft would possibly have worked here, but those former young ladies are in or approaching middle age now. It's astounding how we can't get products off cargo ships, but there is always enough money to make new movies. Anyone wonder why?

This movie IS the truth about our government!
6 November 2021
I find it interesting how this movie has been hidden since the whole, insane, 'woke' crap happened and the corruption in the US government has been in existence almost as long as the system was created. Put all the names we've been told about since 2019 or back in 1992 when this came out and see how many fit the descriptions shown in this film. Many more movies about the corruption of top political officials have already been made before and after the release of this movie. Bottom line... the movie points out how most of our elected and unelected officials work. It's all about self interest and generating as much personal income as possible. One scene in particular is timeless and 100% correct. Lobbyist to congressman. 'I don't care which side of any issue, I've got money from both sides. If all this is going on, how does anything ever get done? It doesn't.' Doesn't this seem familiar? And how the person with the highest level of corruption is the person trying to become Speaker of the House.

Could have been so much better, but...
17 October 2021
Hard to believe most of the same people who did such an amazing job on the first WW movie, did such a mediocre job on this movie. The plot elements were there although far more boring in a time of more global unrest than WWI. What I thought was the poor casting, not the actors, but the roles they were asked to play. Seriously, compare Oberon Martell to the Wish guy in this film? Not even close to the actors ability. Wiig is a terrific comedian and was perfect as the nerd, but then into Cheetah? Huh? Zach Snyder re-edited the terrible Justice League movie into a much better work of art and kept the character's identities. If this can be re-edited and saved, great. However, I truly hate when overdone storylines like hero loses power to villain, then has to overcome by other means to win, blah, blah, blah. And for those familiar with the Atlas Shrugged movies. The man who Steve Trevor was in the body of was the same actor who played John Galt in the final movie. At least he got one more movie role.

Warning: Spoilers
Bringing back characters that had been gone for at least one season to have so much to say about the children and Highway 65. Maddie was emancipated and is beholding to no one. Dampness gets the short straw and legally should go with Teddy the corrupt ex-con. Tandy should have nothing to say. She brings up putting in 2 million dollars to start Highway 65. The truth is her money was illegally obtained during her time as her fathers bagman and manipulater. That was only kept quiet so it wouldn't affect Rayna's label. And as the current, legal married husband, Deacon should be the inheritor of the house and business. So why all this BS with the lawyer?? Making the payment for Wheelin Dealin is under the perfume of Bucky as head of A&R for Highway 65. Forcing all this drama was stupid then and watching it again, is still just as stupid. The character Tandy is one of the biggest living scumbags in the show and I'm pretty sure only Teddy knows it. What a team those two would make, huh?

The rating is for Milla and the SFX....
15 March 2021
What always makes me cringe is when any character who has been lost and living alone is filthy everywhere except for their perfect, bright white teeth. This movie has all the originality of most game to movie conversions. I have no idea about the game this was taken from. However, it's Dune, Tremors, Shelob from LOTR, Jackie Chan, Warcraft, Final Fantasy, Jurassic Park, and let me not forget the special/time travel elements. There is no plot, except monsters who want to eat me...run away! And it's also got a weird vibe about how Americans can easily get along with Asians as long as there is a joined purpose. Otherwise, it's all about fighting and perhaps a some level of symbology with the American being female and the Asian being male, but I'm just guessing something possible. I'm sure glad I didn't have to pay to watch this.

Who knew this movie would have predicted 2020????
26 December 2020
It is free on Amazon Prime as I conclude my 2020 Christmas Day. Although how the world was supposed to end in 2020 because of incorrect interpretations of the Mayan Great Calendar and it's Great Cycle. The date of the world ending was 12-21-2012. The day after my birthday. When nothing happened, I was the only one who was upset the world didn't die. I have been looking forward to a world ending disaster. In this movie the global population, in part, is saved by China as the location where the arks have been built. However, this specific location is somewhere in Tibet which China has been trying to forcibly takeover in today's world. Plus, in today's world, it is China, specifically the CCP government, has purposely let loose a highly contagious virus known as COVID-19 (Coronavirus). This act was biological warfare which in the original creation the UN, this type of war act is a war crime and all involved with its release are supposed to be held accountable and put on trial. The irony is incredible. As far as the end/begin date of the Mayan Great Cycle is about the movement of the Earth and its orbit around the Sun as well as it's tilt. This is what the Mayans had seen/predicted is to happen, and it has. Check the weather patterns around the world and how it has drastically changed since 2012 to present day. I'm posting this on Christmas Day 2020. This is just the beginning of the new Great Cycle as we are only 8 years into a new 5,000+ year cycle to reach the next Great Cycle. To think how many clueless people think these weather events are due to Global Warming and mass carbon emissions.

10 for both the mini series and the fans who made it possible.
4 November 2020
Great that the fans were able, along with the people involved directly with the production of the show refused to take yet another idiotic move by SyFy. I even think it was still spelled Sci-Fi Channel back when this was new. Now that I've given my rating reasons. The mini series had to compact the already written Season 5 promised by SyFy then rescinded AFTER the conclusion of season 4. Like any other show that ends, the sets were dismantled, costumes gone or stored, and so much else needed to make each episode. After a few years and tons of cracker boxes and calls, emails, letters to all those at SyFy. Permission was given to produce an miniseries so the show to have a final ending. Many forget that season 4 ended on the usual cliffhanger. The series resolves that then moves with insane quickness through what I'm guessing the producers felt would have been the best and most prevalent parts of season 5 and condensed into this abridged version. Despite its rapid pace, I felt the show still had most of its character chemistry as well as a ton of well done special FX giving the show a conclusion. As much as I love this show, I hope no one ever tries to do some type of reboot. No way could the chemistry of this cast of characters, just like Babylon 5, just like all the Star Trek shows old and new, and the only better than original BSG. None of these would have much chance to equal or surpass the originals. Perfect example...Star Trek: Discovery. Good on its own, but it's losing out by trying to remain with the StarTrek Universe and yet be its own standalone show. The show Picard is handling this much better in my opinion because it's moving much slower and digging deeper into everything from characters to the storyline. We need more shows like Black Sails, Outlander, and Game of Thrones. Even SyFy shows that are well done and most cancelled. Killjoys, Dark Matter, and the still going The Expanse. The Expanse is based on incredible novels by S. A. Corey, so if the show sticks as close as possible as it's done so far. It should have a few more seasons to go before it ends as the novels did...or have they?

I'm old enough to remember the movie Papillon and this is a very pale reflection
25 October 2020
I tried to watch this all the way through because I've like most of the works done by Daniel Radcliffe. He really did wonderful acting performances in Horns, Lady in Black, and even Guns Akimbo. But I just could not get into what felt more like a propaganda film filled with Hollywood values, instead of a Great Escape movie. I won't say bad things about it. I'm just giving my opinion and how it made me feel.

Farscape (1999–2003)

Hard to believe it's been 20+ years and it still holds up as one of the best Sci-Fi series ever.
24 October 2020
So sad the shows producers were told they would definitely have both a season 4 AND a season 5. Yet, in typical SyFy fashion, they either lied or changed their minds. They put in this shows time slot was a second hour of a BS supposed psychic. All the awards nominated and won in the four years it was in TV, and obviously it meant nothing to SyFy as all other shows they had over the years. Yet, every show starring Amanda Tapping had many, many seasons. Why? Then, because of all the fan uproar sending in box tops of cracker boxes. Added to numerous phone calls all demanding the show to be returned. The best that could happen since all sets and most props were dismantled or destroyed. We got an entire season stuffed into a 2-part series called The Peacekeeper Wars. It picked up resolving the cliff hanger ending of season 4. Then went almost as if it was running in fast forward to give the show an ending. All of us true fans were easily able to see what a full season could have been with the same ending. We just had to find as much solace that at least the cliffhanger was resolved and an ending. I see many people want this show back. I would love that as well, but it's been nearly 20 years since the cast minus Virginia Hey who left after season 3. Hollywood treated her horribly and she had to move one or more times with her only sources of income was from conventions and her all natural herbal soaps, bath products, etc. Hard to believe she is in her late 60s and still so beautiful and elegant. Ben Browder is still working, Anthony Simcoe seems to have given up show biz, Gigi Edgley is still working but it seems it's exclusively in Australia and New Zealand, Claudia Black is and has for a very long time nearly exclusively in voiceover work for games or animations. Henson Dreamworks has seemed to have fallen by the wayside, perhaps because of the rise of CGI. They did such an amazing job creating the characters such as Pilot, Rigel, and numerous creatures. With all this written, I would hate to see this show brought back. It couldn't return with the original main characters and I don't think some animated version would be nearly as good. This is one of those rare Sci-Fi shows that is truly character driven. In the company of some other shows of the same genre have been. Other great shows such as Babylon 5 almost didn't have a season 5 as well, but was saved by another network. Star Trek: TNG, DS9, And to a lesser extent Voyager. And my personal #1 series BSG came out with the right people in front of the camera as well as behind it. Mostly wonderful scripts, and terrific acting by all the regular and guest actors. However, the last season was almost as poor and disappointing as the final two seasons of A Game Of Thrones. Lastly, I would definitely watch any show or movie with both Claudia Black and Ben Browder as the lead characters. They had such an amazing chemistry on Farscape and when they were both on the last few seasons of Stargate: SG1.

How far Daniel Radcliffe has come since Harry Potter.
15 October 2020
The reviews already posted honestly describe how I felt about this movie. I thought it was silly, but in a fun good B movie way. I enjoyed it, but not as much as I had hoped. I was hoping this might have had a similar gut impact as the story and his character had in the movie of Zoe Hill's novel Horns. With that said, I'm glad Danielle is trying other styles and new things. I look forward to his next project and where it might take this talented young actor.

Very disappointing. Why have Hollywood people all lost their imaginations?
15 September 2020
Perhaps this could have been made into a good movie if Hollywood and all their minions from Key Grip to Big Time Stars stopped thinking about politics and focused on being creative, or at the very least...finding some creative people who seem to still be writing graphic novels, comic books, and other fantasy works of fiction? The actors have done good work previously. I'm not going to blame them for wanting a paycheck for actually working. I'm not a writer, but I definitely can come up with ideas, outlines for a movie plot because I've not lost my imagination or how to dip into different topics and give ideas on character motivations and plot lines. Those in America needs to stop being shamed to feel bad for being Americans and grow our spines and balls back and stop being propaganda puppets of The CCP!

In what current day world would America team up with China, Russia, Middle East, and an African from Britain?
7 September 2020
I can't think of a combination of astronauts from countries (China, Russia, the Middle East) that hate the USA except Britain all stuck together in a spaceship making the first manned trip to land on Mars and then come back home. And have these writers chose to be so ignorant of physics allowing cellphone calls happen in real time with no ever increasing time delay for even laser transmissions to travel from the ship to earth and back again??? Geez, that's incredibly stupid! I'm on episode 3 as I write this and can only hope the story and the acting will overcome all the terrible mistakes anyone who knows anything about space travel, or has relatives working for NASA who hate this show. I'm hoping Million Dollar Baby wasn't Swank's only top notch performance since she did B movies prior, and hasn't done anything truly good since.

Away: Negative Return (2020)
Season 1, Episode 2
6/10
This review is only about this episode and what made no sense. SPOILERS
7 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I've never been i outer space or even worked for NASA, but I do know physics quite well. I also know the mental fitness ALL astronauts are required to have before even being considered for the title of astronaut. With that said, what made the 'suspense' part of this episode was when Hillary Swank went EVA to try and fix a partially deployed solar panel. She finds that one of the guide wires jumped it slot and has to pull it out where it's stuck to try and get it back to correct position. First she sees it from the inside and says she has no leverage and can't do it. Then she chooses to ask the Russian who has the most space experience of the entire crew and has said he doesn't trust her as commander. But he chooses to trust her to untether herself and swing around to the other side because her husband recovering from brain surgery in the hospital built the craft and knows she has connection points on the other side. She gets there and only then pulls out a pick-like tool and tries pulling the stuck cable out of where it's stuck, but slips. The tool goes flying off and she travels backwards about 4 feet and she lying there as if she's been knocked out. How does a person with above average intelligence not know the simple principle of using leverage to move an object? She could have simply put the pick between the hinge where the cable was stuck and lever the cable out instead of being stupid and trying to pull it out. And then why does such a short flight with a sudden stop cause her to be knocked out briefly? None of these things make any sense. Of course, the solar panel gets fixed and everyone is happy and now the Russian has a better opinion of her. Ugh! I agree with others who talk bout much better space travel shows set in a near present day situation, but I'll hope the story and acting will overcome the poor physical details and inaccuracies.

Such an underrated movie with a very substantial statement about humanity
15 August 2020
If I got into any details I'd be giving the movie away. For those who have never heard of it, please take the time to rent it and watch it without distractions. Tom Hanks it not the focus of the movie, but plays a very significant role. This movie had everything a truly well written story always has. Great characters, a very horrible and wonderful situation for the central characters. The ending can be confusing, only if you aren't able to think on multiple levels. Rarely does a movie ever ask its viewers to read between the lines or connect the dots and find both truths this story contains.
