Haunted Castle (2001)
Very Good!
Well, not the BEST movie I've ever seen, but it deffinetly is one of my favourites! It had just a few things I like about a movie; rock music, gothic, very hot guy, lots of horror. It was a fun roller coaster ride through a bone chilling gothic castle. I'm glad there was a plot line, as thin and flimsy as it was. It was still a potentially strong plot line, and I think if they had focused a bit more on strengthening the plot, and perhaps made it a longer movie, it would have been excellent. But after all, it was an Imax movie, so you can't expect box office masterpieces jumping out from those screens. Nonetheless, it was VERY enjoyable, and I intend to buy the DVD and if I can, the soundtrack. I LOVE that song he sings at the beginning and end.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
Beautiful Work
I fell in love with this movie from the beginning. I had never read the books before hand, except 'The Hobbit' and maybe two chapters in FOTR, but that was pretty much it. My boyfriend was very hyped up to see it, so I decided to go with him. I didn't want to at first, the trailers just showed to me a fighting, bloody, manish type movie, with maybe some pretty women off to the side. I didn't expect such a beautiful movie. The shire scene is what grabbed me first. The music, the landscape, the relationship between Gandalf and Frodo. I had never seen something so beautiful on the big screen. As the movie proceeded, and more characters were introduced, I got more and more intrested. I had cried when Gandalf died, and cried agian when Boromir died. And then cried once more at the end. I had such a connection with the characters, and such an understanding of the world of middle earth, that the story just plain moved me. It was so beautiful. The lighting, the music, the landscape, relationships between characters. It's hard for me to describe, how much I loved this movie. I can't explain it in words. But the movie encouraged me to read the books. I hope that they will do the next one as beautifuly as the first. I have faith in Mr.Jackson and his crew, that they will.
The Others (2001)
Great Movie
The movie scared me to death, and that's why I liked it so much. The shadows and coloring gave the spooky effect that the movie needed. The camera never went crazy, and it never did do those annoying close ups like so many other horror films, where it's as if the camera is eating the person or something. The music was very eerie and spooky. The only thing I didn't like was the way Nichole Kidman would whisper, than I would have to turn up the volume. The next thing you know, they would be screaming, or loud music would be playing and it would be way too loud. Finally I gave up, and just put it on captions. The sound quality might be a problem for people who buy the movie on VHS. Keep that in mind incase you want to buy the movie. Of course if you don't like loud startling sounds in horror movies, the DVD player would be the way to go. Other wise, it's a wonderfully scary movie, that proves you don't need blood in a horror movie just to make it scary.
