The Stöned Age (1994)
A marketing mistake gone terribly wrong!
Man oh man, did the home video distributers of this movie mess up or what!? Clearly, right there on the front of the video box it says: Better Than Dazed And Confused. Mistake, big mistake. The fans of Dazed And Confused are very loyal to it, and rightly so. It's a great film. But, I believe when they rented or bought The Stoned Age alot of people expected it to be a clone of D.A.C., but they were very disappointed because the two films are nothing alike. The only thing they really have in common is the era in which they were supposed to have taken place. That being said, I think The Stoned Age stands alone on it's own just fine. I thought this movie was brilliant. I had alot of fun watching this one. The characters of Joe and Hubbs were great, I used to know many people just like these guys. But my favorite character was Tack, with him clearly having the best lines in the film. I was sad to see the credits roll at the end of this one. Don't compare this one to Dazed And Confused, judge it on it's own terms. If you still don't like it, fine. But for myself and many others, this movie is a classic! Can I see a show of hands for a sequel?

Bad Taste (1987)
In Bad Taste, and Good Fun!
Lord Of The Rings fans beware, if you are expecting a similar movie you will be sorely disappointed. But Dead Alive(Braindead) fans rejoice, if you haven't seen this one yet, you owe it to yourself to check it out! This flick predates Dead Alive, and is not quite the gem Dead Alive is. Although I said not quite, it is a fun, fun, fun viewing experience! I bought this one because I am such a fan of Dead Alive, and honestly I wasn't expecting much. To my surprise, it was brilliant in it's own cheesy,B movie sort of way! I won't go into plot details because it's already been covered by other reviews. But if you are a fan of B movies and gore flicks, you got to see it. I happen to be a fan of Lord Of The Rings,Dead Alive and Bad Taste, but I must say I prefer these independent type movies to the big budgeted ones. And my advice to Peter Jackson is, just because L.O.T.R. is very successful, don't give up on making these kind of movies as well. There is a big fan base for B movies like Bad Taste. Bring us the fun and gore, and thank you in advance!
Jennifer (1978)
Gimme some cheese-70's style
*****POSSIBLE SPOILERS***** I just have a fondness for cheesy horror movies, plain and simple. I saw this movie at a drive-in not long after it was released, and at the time not even being a teenager yet, it scared the heck out of me. Since the advent of vcr's I had been looking for this film to see if it was truly the frightening film I remembered it to be. I never could find it in any video store, but I finally found it on sale on the internet so I bought it. It's kind of typical for that era, a loner being picked on by the rich kids, etc. But it's a fun film and I'm glad I finally found a copy of it. It is very similar to the film Carrie as others have mentioned, but it doesn't quite have the punch of the Stephen King classic. Since I have studied Herpetology(the study of reptiles and amphibians) for many years, the films use of non-poisonous snakes and trying to pass them off as rattlesnakes was quite funny. The big snake at the end was indeed laughable, but if someone didn't have knowledge of these things it would be believable, I guess. Like I said earlier, cheesy but fun, just the way I like it!
Zombie Bloodbath 2 (1995)
Great gobs of gore gushing generously.
I bought Zombie Bloodbath 1 and 2 at the same time without seeing them beforehand, and I wasn't sure what to expect. Being a huge fan of the zombie genre and B movies in general, I figured I had nothing to lose. This movie was one of the most fun times I've ever had watching a horror film. Todd Sheets made a masterpiece here, gory to the max and funny as they come. I suppose many would be turned off by the graphic violence, gore and amateurish acting, but that's what makes a great B movie. The real star here is "actor" Jerry Angell (just remember he's the guy with the mullet). I haven't laughed that hard at any performance before. Jerry is the epitome of why these kind of movies are so great. If you are looking for a serious horror film, look elsewhere. But if your looking for a cheesy,B movie zombie gorefest, you've got to check this one out. The first one is great fun too, but part 2 will be hard to beat, as I hear they are making a part 3 as well. Personally, I can't wait!!!!!!!!
FleshEater (1988)
Where has this zombie flick been hiding?
As you can probably tell by my nickname, I love horror films, zombie films in particular. I have pride in my knowledge of horror films, as I own close to a thousand of them and have seen many more. But I have to admit, I had never heard of this flick before yesterday. Browsing through a video store in another town, I came across it,scratching my head wondering how good could this be if I've never heard of it before. I was pleasantly surprised by this film. I think it was just as good as The Dead Next Door(a B grade zombie flick that gets a lot of attention as being an unknown classic). This is a fun film to watch if you don't expect too much from it. Don't expect great acting, top quality production, and whatever else most people think it takes to make a good film. But if your a fan of B grade horror movies, or on a quest to see and own every zombie movie ever made(such as myself), give this one a chance. I was surprised to see one of the zombies in this movie was Bill Hinzman, the cemetery zombie who chases after Barbara in the original Night Of The Living Dead. I guess you could say he is reprising his role, so to speak. I think he also directed and produced this film. I must admit, this film does seem to borrow a little from the original Night Of The Living Dead, but I don't care. This movie was fun and entertaining to watch and that's all I ask for. I was surprised at the amount of gore as well. The version I got was an uncut one entitled Revenge Of The Living Zombies. Once again, a pleasant surprise. Well, I have to go now and find a copy of this movie to buy somewhere! Later.
Dawn of the Dead (1978)
When there's no more room in hell, the dead shall walk the earth!
This is easily one of the top 5 horror films of all time. This was the first zombie film I had seen, and probably the best as well. I thought everything in this movie was perfect. The storyline, acting, gore effects, dialogue and atmosphere all fell together nicely. If you like Romero's dead trilogy, I recommend you see some of Lucio Fulci's work as well(Zombie,City Of The Living Dead,The Beyond, etc,), all fun zombie viewing. But I must say, DawnOTD is the best! Night Of The Living Dead was good, but Dawn was great! It's the best of the trilogy, and a monumental horror film as well.
