Old School (2003)
Laughter is a Great Thing
2 March 2003
Old School is a tremendously funny movie. Yeah there is a plot in the background, but you don't need to worry about it too much. Just watch Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell and let the fun begin. Will is the star of the show and takes center stage, but Vince is not far behind, in his best performance since the classic Swingers. This is a classic as well.

Seann William Scott has a great cameo, by the way.

9 out of 10 for pure comedic virtuosity.

A Guy Thing (2003)
They Tried Awfully Hard, But to no Avail

I didn't enjoy this movie. I like Lee a lot, and Blair and Stiles are easy on the eyes, but this movie was just not good. There was no chemistry between Lee and Stiles, and yet we're supposed to believe they are falling for each other? I only laughed maybe once, and this was a movie that tried desperately to make you laugh nearly every 10 seconds, but it just wasn't happening.

Save your money. 3/10.

Worth Seeing Again
30 August 2002
This is an excellent film. Tremendous performances throughout and great cinematography. The chemistry between Newman and Hanks, and Hanks and Hoechlin (Tom's son in the movie) were right on. Jude Law was great as well, playing a character that we don't usually see him in. This is one of the movies where right off the bat you are pulled in, and you know you are witnessing something special. Highly recommended. 9 stars out of 10.

Disappointing

Warning: Spoilers
What a bad movie. I'm really surprised that DeNiro and even Snipes would be associated with something like this. If you're going to make a movie that involves baseball, and shows scenes of baseball, at least make the action look somewhat realistic. Why was the crowd always standing up for no particular reason during games? ***POSSIBLE SPOILER*** And the last scene in the movie....what was that? We are somehow led to believe that DeNiro has found his way onto the field in an umpire's uniform, and that the game is even being played in a torrential downpour....one of the worst ever scenes in a sports movie. 3 stars out of 10.
