Stacy (2001)
"sick" is the word for today
Don't really like the whole hopeless sorrow thing, too black. Marrying an emotionless zombie girl as solution?! Evolution? This is just plain sick. Besides the zombie thing, it's somewhat similar to a manga I read: by the end of 21th century, mysterious illness spreads out, teenage girls suddenly becoming more and more beautiful day by day, and so as weaker and weaker, then eventually die off. End of humanity... Come on, horror film should leave some space for hope (not a twisted one).
Dracula II: Ascension (2003)
The first one is much better
It's like what other Dracula movies always do, the minions of Dracula always on Dracula's side, which is what disappointed me at the ending. Regardless the person wants to stay a vampire or not, I would like to see something like in the first movie that the minion fights against her master. It is much interesting (since you can almost predict how the story goes) than just either the priest or D. win the game (we need some surprising plots!).
Huo zhe (1994)
A simple Chinese life story of the old days can give you lots of feelings and tears...
It is a touching story about how a man had tried his best to survive for himself and his family when China was in convulsions. This is one of those Chinese stories in the old days. And the protagonist is already one of the lucky ones (he had a time of enjoying wealthy life; without any physical/mental damage). It is unimaginabale to today's people. Those days (especially in cultural revolution) were even darker than any other country's dark period.
Frankly saying, I rarely get touched by a movie. But this one is the one that moves my tears every time I watch it.
The Ring (2002)
Is it really that scary? Nah~
I watched the original Japanese film. The ideas are intriguing. But I still don't understand why it became so popular in Asia as the scariest film. Maybe the atmosphere and sound effect (mostly silent) in the film were too much for people to take. Personally I don't get the fear it supposedly presents, and surely it was not that memorizing. So, maybe you watch this film in midnight; and then suddenly the phone rings... so what?! Afraid of someone climb out your TV set and take your life?! Then the ring series came out, still the same, paid more attention to the story than the fear. And now there is a remake version of it? with similar story? Come on, I don't see how it will get any better (maybe to the first-timers. But that is.)
Hellraiser: Bloodline (1996)
This story really follows sequence...
From the first movie on, the story really follows sequence (except V). From some reasons which I can't explain, I expected more from this one, but it doesn't... But it is still good for entertainment.
Kakashi (2001)
boring and horribly wasting time
It's a story about villagers bring back the souls of their love ones who passed away into scarecrow bodies. It's based on the horror manga story of Junji Ito. This is the 4th horror movie I watched based on Junji Ito's horror stories. Don't know if it's made by the same director... maybe not, but they seem to mess up every story and make them boring (long time till get to the point, fail to create the horror atmosphere). I was prepared to enjoy the movie when I first got my hands on it. But instead I was bored to anger. The only thing I haven't done is to get the cursing out of my mouth, which it would be pretty meaningless for cursing at the screen.
Sums up: it's a movie to waste time and money.
