Love Dolly but.....ehhhhh!!!!!!
6 December 2022
Couldn't wait to see this new Dolly tv program/show/movie. I think it was trying to be too many things at once. I usually love Dolly in everything but she missed the mark on this one. I'm a Catholic when it comes to religion and I just think there was too much religion injected into this. It could have been soooooooooooo much better. When Willie Nelson came on I swear he looked 110 years old. The poor guy should retire and go rest somewhere on a tropical island that allows.....marijuana. The little blonde kid that kept showing up everywhere was a little annoying too. I don't know why that kept happening. So....that's about it for this Dolly flop.

I don't get the high reviews
25 August 2019
I just watched this movie last night and found it confusing. Yes I know the story was about dopplegangers but they didn't explain that. They also talked about tunnels all over the earth at the beginning.....and this cellar like space under a fun house is where all these dopplegangers are coming from. What is creating them? All you see are rabbits running around....and empty cages. There are way too many things that go un-answered with this film. I truly think it would've been alot better if there was a straight out explanation of all the copies of these people. Oh well.......I guess everyone has their own opinions.

A remake of Suspiria (2018)
21 February 2019
When this movie was released to the theaters I kept saying.....I must make it to the cinema and see it. Well I waited too long and by the time I got around to it.....it was gone. I was able to rent it at Redbox....and here's what I think about it. First of all....it's a hard movie to hear.....and I have no hearing issues. Alot of the lines seem whispered or garbled when spoken. That's my first issue. My mom whose hearing loss is 70+% hardly heard any of this movie. I also think it was shot very drably. Unlike the original that used technicolor film (it was the last movie to use this process in history). And lastly is was just too damn long. When you kept thinking it was ending......NOPE....it's still going. I will say the acting is above par. Though the filming is drab.....and I think quite dark too. I really wanted to like this film......but I just didn't. Glad I didn't pay like $13 at the movie theaters. I plunked down $1.50.....which seems to be about right!!!!!!!!!

Slow and achingly deep...
5 February 2019
I rented this movie from the library and I had never heard of it. The filming / photography of this film is very good. The acting is AWESOME. It's the story....it starts out going one way then takes a crazy turn. I mean one character at one point I thought was a ghost....but she actually wasn't. There's one character that starts murdering people....and you don't know why. And lastly throw in a quickie exorcism. I was like....what the hell is going on here. Seriously....if you get this film....could you explain it to me?????

Ehhhh.....could've been alot better if.....
12 August 2018
I'm going to make this review short and sweet. The actors here did their best to tell the story and sing the story of PT Barnum. My problem with this production is they used music from our time now (the style) for times that were happening in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Why not use period music? Totally didn't get that. Even when Jenny Lind sang... she was supposed to sing opera music...she sang a pop flavored ditty. The music did not work...at all. Acting was good and above par...but whoever figured music styles from now would fit into a story back then...

Not as bad as it's made out to be......
30 August 2017
I just finished watching Alien Covenant and I don't think it's as bad as people are making it out to be. Firstly I think it's much much better than Prometheus. I hardly got through that movie. At least there's action in this one....and some horror. Of course there's CGI too. Special effects have changed since the first 2 Alien movies came out. I thought the effects were GREAT. As real as any other science fiction movie out there. Acting is fair. If you sit back and take it for what it is.....it's a decent flick. I rated it a 7. It's worth a view at least. ENJOY!!!!!!!!!

Take Shelter (2011)

Strong film concerning mental issues...
20 August 2015
I just finished watching "Take Shelter".....and I agree it was a sleeper hit of 2011. I rented it from our local library......and actually I almost didn't. I'm very glad I did. The movie deals with a hard working husband/father....who starts being effected by mental problems. For me.....this was a direct connection....cause I suffer with depression and anxiety....so when he was going through certain episodes......I was shaking my head.....yep....been there. Michael Shannon plays Curtis....and hits the nail squarely on the head...thinking he's dreaming of signs of a bad storm coming. He sets out to building a heavy duty storm shelter....which causes stress with his wife (played by Jessica Chastain) and special needs daughter whose deaf (played by Tova Stewart). I would have definitely nominated Michael Shannon for an Academy Award for his portrayal of this hurting stressed out character. I would have bet on him winning also. I won't tell anymore about this film......but it's a must see. Find it.....rent it......and watch it. Stick with it cause it's truly an AWESOME film!!!!!!!
