The Best Stephen Cone Film?
27 April 2022
Probably my favorite Stephen Cone film, although I like The Wise Kids a lot. I think this one is the lightest/sweetest of the bunch. The aunt/niece dynamic feels so fresh and original, and some of their discussions are so frank and rich. It's just a great character study.

The Awkward Christian Pool Party
27 April 2022
This isn't my favorite Stephen Cone film (try The Wise Kids or Princess Cyd), but I appreciate the vibe it's capturing. The repressed setting definitely brought me back. Like Dramarama, it's filled with awkward teen pool moments. If you didn't grow up in a repressed Christian atmosphere, I'm not sure you'll get it.

Real, Complex Christian Kids

It's a very artsy movie, which is a style I actually like, about Christian kids in a small town putting on a play. I'm from a small town, I grew up Christian, I liked plays...so I GET it. Dramarama (2020) brought me here, then I fell down a Stephen Cone hole. Give it a shot.

It Me.
27 April 2022
Okay so this movie is super specific (Christian drama nerds) but OMG did it hit me! Sooooo good. Uggggh. All the in-fighting and secret crushes and pretending to be adults but still clearly totally naive...Yeah. It me.

The whole cast slays, but extra shout out to Danielle Kay and Nick Pugliese. I expect we'll see great things from them.
