Red Riding Hood (2011)
I loved it!
Okay, I watched this movie with a Clearplay filter, so I don't know what was filtered out of it. However, I absolutely loved this movie. Many of the characters were noble, honorable, and self-sacrificing. It kept my attention throughout the entire movie largely because it kept me guessing. If you like movies where you are trying to figure out,"who done it," I think you will really enjoy this movie. I also found the acting to be well done, especially Gary Oldman's. If you are an Oldman fan, you'll like him in this. The scenery was also quite beautiful. I wonder if I even watched the same movie as the people on here who gave it bad reviews. Alas, to each his own I guess.
Tombstone (1993)
Good but I couldn't get past something
I am quite disturbed that not one person has mentioned the fact that the writers wanted us to hope that a married man would dump his wife and go for another woman. I was not happy to see Wyatt end up with the other woman at the end, the way they obviously thought we should be. I would have been much happier if his wife had gotten her act together, and Wyatt respected his marriage, and his wife much more. Rather than going for someone who planted seeds of discontent. That's really all the other woman did.I had a hard time getting past all of that. Other than that though, I thought the movie was good. Val Kilmer did a particularly good job in it.
Bed of Roses (1996)
It had its ups and downs
I thought some of it was good, and there were some original lines that I will likely take with me and use in appropriate situations. Both Slater and Masterson are wonderful actors, but there just wasn't any chemistry between them.I was also bothered by the fact that the little girl in the play was adorable. Wasn't the whole purpose of the play supposed to be for the ugly duckling? She was not believable as a hard case. I realize that was just a detail in the story, but it's an example of the lack of follow through that the movie had in many areas. It was very sweet and romantic however, with some lines I will remember.
Penelope (2006)
Wonderfully Refreshing
Awesome! This movie is very beautiful and touching. It is definitely one of my top 5 favorites. The story mixed fantasy with reality in a uniquely refreshing way. While one would think the lightness of the basic plot does not allow for much character development, this story does an amazing job of adding depth to it's fantasy like characters. Each actor played his or her part perfectly. Peter Dinklage's character was surprisingly insightful. Catherine Ohara did an excellent job of playing the overprotective mother. I haven't left a movie feeling so good in a long time. I don't want to list any spoilers so I will simply say that if you like heartwarming stories, this one is for you.
