Bangkok Dangerous (2008)
Boring and Bad
Pretty bad film, with especially bad acting by Cage. Or was he acting at all?
This was a boring mess, and I completely lost any interest. It also made no sense that the blind girl would want to date Cage- this was a huge stretch. Was it supposed to show that Cage was after all sensitive person, someone capable of love? If so, his horrible acting lost the message.
No life in his performance, no explanation of things. Hated it. Wanted to leave, and was glad when it ended, though sad that I wasted money to see it.
Pineapple Express (2008)
Complete waste of time & money
Wow, was I disappointed in this movie! It missed on so many points that I really can't think of anything that was good about it. Maybe I'm just getting tired of Seth Rogen- his acting skills are very limited, usually him yelling and getting frantic- and that is supposed to make us laugh, I guess.
Actually, thinking back to it, the co-star pot dealer was good, I liked his efforts.
The misses now- where to begin? Movies can suspend reality to advance plot if they want, but that has to be known upfront- then you can accept the shootings that don't kill people, or the fact that the hottest girl in high school is in love with a much older pothead loser, and similar implausibilities. Hit men that can't catch, let alone kill, these guys?
Wasn't this billed as being funny? What was funny? Yelling and getting manic only works if used sparingly, but the entire movie was Seth flipping out and screaming, and other people doing the same thing. Lots of people running into trees or walls and lots of people getting hurt but not getting hurt- enough already, I need more to laugh.
It isn't worth the effort to think of anything more to say- but this was a piece of trash, not funny, and I would be embarrassed to be director of something this bad.
Numb (2007)
Awful, I want my money back!
This movie really stunk. Both my wife and I thought it was putrid. There was no chemistry and no logic to the plot- why would anyone be interested in Matthew Perry's character? Why would anyone find him interesting or attractive? I know to be a convincing psych case you wouldn't smile a lot, but his only facial expression was a look of befuddlement- and this is why the women find him attractive and go crazy over him? The psychiatrist too?
I didn't laugh even one time during the entire film, nor my wife- wasn't this supposed to be a romantic comedy? And where was any romance?
Piece of garbage- complete waste of time
The Dark Knight (2008)
Not that good
Saw the movie 7/20, not very good at all, quite disappointed given all the hype, but the theater was packed.
Plot was a mess, hard to follow- I couldn't tell what was going on much of the time, some of the characters such as joker and most criminals were nasty, but I kept getting confused with DA if he was good or bad guy, as well as others, and it really got muddled at end with who was insider etc. Frankly, I didn't care.
Can you believe I caught myself dozing a couple of times? It's that kind of movie- lots of action and things happening, but you could drift off and just more action would be happening, so what did I miss?
Too many things that defy logic- I mean, come on, so many criminals "afraid" of the Joker, they wouldn't dare touch him? When he blows up hospital, which police just evacuated, wouldn't some police be on scene and then they could shoot him?
I too didn't like the lead actress, Maggie Glyndehaal (spelling?)- she was very tepid, nothing that would excite me, no passion just boredom. Most of the characters were not very compelling- even Batman wasn't anyone that made me sympathetic or like him. Who the hell was Morgan Freeman- what function did he have? Did they just add his name to attract viewers as he's usually a good draw?
Not very good- I should have asked for my money back.
