Blue Eye Samurai: The Great Fire of 1657 (2023)
What the... ?
What? How? Why?! Show was going amazing before this season finale. I love everything about this show, the characters, theirs story arc, the setting, the animation, the music, everything looked like it fit's, but then we have this finale, and i must say, it felt rushed. Like VERY rushed. I didn't like how the main villain just walk trough the city with barely any fight back, looked like the shogun really just had an army of 50 samurais and thats it. The other thing is why did the writers buff Mizu? She is an amazing samurai, extremely skilled with any kind of weapon, she can beat armies of 50 in some very creative moves, but when she had the moment to kill the main villian she doesn't do anything of that, she looked weaker, and can't handle a sword fight, doesn't make sense.its weird.
1899: The Key (2022)
Can't believe this show was cancelled
Honestly i don't know why and how Netflix shut down this project after delivering a rich and complex story filled with powerful characters well delivered.
I do understand that the first episodes may be hard to follow because a lot is happening at the time and we don't have a clue of what is going on, but that changes later and it's very fun trip, you go from an historical set to a horror mood and end up in a sci-fi genre. It's mind blowing how the story change.
I was watching episode 5 when i heard the show was canceled, and at the time i was already engaged and full fan of the serie, it was so upsetting but either way i was settled to watched the remains episodes and i'm glad i did. It's a masterpiece in many terms: The production, the photography, the character's arc, the story, the art... Netflix just deprived us one of the best original shows going now.
Congratulations to the team behind and the creators.
Encanto (2021)
Don't know what to watch? Here is a movie to relax and pass time
Its a movie with fantastic animations, great music and great voice acting
It's a fun movie to watch with your kids and family. It's definitely enjoyable.
It has some cons... The plot is very weak and very predictable, nothing you haven't seen it before in other movies.
Still worth watching it.
Narcos: México: Life in Wartime (2021)
Not the right way
A different season than what they had been doing throughout the series.
They have "try" to do it different, but you can see how those changes loses strength with each chapter, showing us characters that with the time on the screen they had, one could even know who's grandfather of whom, but it is not like that. They are very flat characters, boring at times, i can't remember someone yelling or someone smiling and laughing, they just stand at places and speak slow without any charism.. And all characters are like this, the antagonists, the protagonists, even the daughter of Benjamin, that we are aware of that she is sick, but we never had a chance to witness her ill, the girl just stands there and barely had a line.
They also present us parallel stories pretty interesting, but are meaningless to the plot of the series or just bad develop (I can't tell), for example we have the story of Victor Tapia trying to redeem himself for being a terrible cop, but it ends nowhere, and i could't care, i mean i never saw him really caring for redeem himself, i never saw him an emotion, a tear drop, even when he died, he just stood there with a poker face (Even knowing there is another psycho killer out, and his life's purpose is to find em', but he just go for: "It's not what you think", "if you are gonna do it, just do it"; and that's it, he died for no reason), so if he didn't care, why should we?.
Another thing, i don't have problem with slow pace movies and series, but previous Narcos seasons hve never been slow pace, they are actually fast, with action pack, thriller moments well made, here the show is slow, with few action moments, few gunshots, there's no really thriller moments. By the end it leaves us a flat emotional void, asking questions like: "Was this season worth watching?" "Will I watch another season?".
But the worst was how they destroyed good characters like Walt and James (DEA), and Amado who was a cool narco character in other seasons, in this one he is shown as an emo boy without charisma.
They leave a lot of content for Chapo for a next season, hopefully they work that one well.
Sex/Life (2021)
Bad
Yeah... its bad. Has good cinematography tho.
Its cringy 100%, i wouldnt waste time here.
And yeah the end its very bad.
Friends: The Reunion (2021)
i was hoping more.
It was good, I think they missed an opportunity to show more and internalize more relevant characters, especially the secondary characters of the series who also gave life to the show, i mean they show us more Justin Bieber than Maggie Wheeler (Janice) who for me is a key character in the series, like Mike, Carol, Emily, Pete Becker and David come on! ... The scientist! ... None of them comes out, and they preferred to show Lady Gaga and Beckham.
They really lost the opportunity because I don't think they will do something like this again, as Jennifer also points out, not in maybe 15 more years (most likely it won't happen). And having that info clearly one thinks why did I watch testimonies from people around the world that I don't care about and testimonies from celebrities that I don't care about and that they don't even appear in the series? An if so... they should hve gone with testimonials from celebrities that were invited to Friends like Brad Pit, Helen Hunt, DeVito, Sean Penn, etc... there are a lot of.
Also the host James Corden was definitely a poor choice, his questions were very superficial, and well below expectations. Forgive me if I am being harsh, but this series is one of my favorites, I have repeated it more than 10 times.
But anyway leaving aside James Corden and the nonsensical content, seeing the actors reunited is exciting and touches you nostalgically, you feel how they lived that together and how they had to move on with their lives. To all this Mathew Perry needs help and work, definitely just by looking at him one knows that he is having a bad time.
The Arrival (1996)
Enjoyable.
The thing is that from the very beginning you can tell that it is a 90s movie. That is not necessarily a bad thing, but its style, direction, editing, acting, music and special effects have aged badly. Even so, if you manage to accept those popular conditions of its time, you can enjoy it since it is an original movie and it keeps you entertained until the end. Its plot is quite entertaining and original, and it maintains the tension all the time. I'm not fan of remakes, but it would be interesting to see one of this title since its narrative elements and plot points are super remarkable. I rate it 6.8.
Army of the Dead (2021)
Dont waste time
I'm having a terrible hangover right now, the hangover kind that u cant eat or drink water, that doesnt let you get up from bed, and if so its only to use the bathroom to vomit.
Between this hangover and this movie i prefer de hangover.
Unorthodox (2020)
Meh
Nothing special, its very simple in all meanings (Script, acting skills, dialogues, actions, cinematography, production design, etc).
Sometimes its feels its gonna get really good but those feelins go away very quickly, cause nothing really happens ever. I cant agree with the possitives imdb reviews, sure u can learn something about the Ortodhox religion itself, but thats it, thats all.
Mass Effect 2 (2010)
Amazed
Mass Effect must be the most perfect Sci-fi series ever made in history, i dare to said that's even greater than Star Wars. The history it's brilliant, it's a bit complicated but once you get it, you are in the Mass Effect galaxy and you probably want come out of there till you finish the trilogy.
I wasn't sure what to expect about Mass Effect at first. But all i heard about was that it's a great game. I didn't buy the game until last year, i bought the trilogy pack. The first of the three, Mass Effect 1, was incredibly, besides the old graphics and the 10000 bugs the game have, the story, the music, the characters, makes a really good game.
The genius behind this game, make perfectly done at first, they knew it was gonna be a trilogy, so when you finish the first game you could export your character to Mass Effect 2, and when you finish Mass Effect 2 you do the same for Mass Effect 3. This is perfect, cause every action you make, makes repercussions in the other games as well. So if you make a decision in the first Mass Effect, it will affect Mass Effect 2 and 3, this make you doubt at every moment while you play.
Mass Effect 2 (My favorite), it's more powerful than Mass Effect 1 in every aspect, the graphics are better, the story, the characters, the Normandy, it's definitely a "Must have" in your collection. I don't want to say anything more of, just, you are gonna be surprise. Play this game, you want regret at all.
