help me! Im a plot less movie :S
16 November 2008
Where to begin with this debacle? The cast were poor, not a single mediocre performance if you combined all their talents.

Melanie Brown (of former spice girls fame) does her best to be annoying northerner. Her thick gormless accent ripping through any notion of script or character. Why couldn't someone have paid her to sing her lines? Trust me it would have been better than listening to her speak.

The main plot is strictly B movie fare, and there is no real idea of what this movie is. Is it a horror? (if so shouldn't it be scary?) is it a thriller? (then shouldn't it be exciting or have some surprise?) Is it sci-fi? (then shouldn't there be more mention of this concept - instead of slapping it on at the end) The writer Mr De Selva should be ashamed of profiting from such a bland, pointless story. But alas there is no more shame in collecting a paycheck for which one does not deserve.

Strange, disjointed movie
26 September 2008
Well I was mightily impressed by the trailer, as I love a good horror movie. But this was such a disappointment.

Scott Speedman was obnoxious and Liv Tyler whiny - so it was all a pleasant relief they both suffered. As I assure you my pain was greater.

The lack of plot was original, but there's a reason it doesn't happen in movies - it doesn't work. Especially with such weak characters. And an extremely weak premise.

The people in masks were a bit strange, why do we never see their faces? Rarely hear them yet they get a credit??? Then their mysterious superpowers (ie ability to appear and disappear at will) but this is contradicted by their slow slumping walks and almost complete lack of strength when it comes to stabbing the victims. It was like watching a polio sufferer trying to cut through sheet steel. Pathetic.

The writer and director produced a very shoddy piece of work, lacking characters, plot, plot devices and twists. Admittedly there was tension - but waiting for a blood test to come back is also tense (and cheaper).

Pointless sequel to 2nd rate movie
26 September 2008
There really was no point in trying to milk the cash from this cow. It dried up with the desperate attempts of Stiller to create a movie with a few memorable scenes. His career may depend on 3 scenes per movie, but do I have to wade through the effluent to get to them? Are they ever worth it? The humor was bland, so Stiller was at his finest. Being the 'likeable' guy what an amazing twist for one of his characters. Nobody came out of this movie with even a mediocre performance. I wish somebody benefited from this movie, I really do. Spiritually or intellectually - because it failed so dismally in the creative stakes - somebody had to have been possessed by some force other than greed to make this 2nd rate baby snot.

Save us from the Golden Compass!
14 September 2008
Everyone in this movie, everyone who produced this movie and anyone who supported the idea should be flogged. Words fail me on how pointless an exercise this movie was. Where was the entertainment value? Credible storyline? Interesting characters?

The idea that people just tag along for the ride to fight the bad guys, yes that was very successful in 80's cartoons. Why would it still work on anyone beyond a 7 year old?

If only they had one interesting character, but alas no. f all the characters were molded into one - it would still not equate to one likable/credible person. I understand it was based on a book, and had to summarise quickly the characters. But still it doesn't explain why the pace of the movie moves from a snails crawl at the beginning to lightening speed near the end where all sorts of lucky coincidences and bizarre events happen. With no rhyme or reason.

I hope this is a case of where the book was a lot better than the film.

Brilliant - but too obscene for prissy yanks.
14 September 2008
This is a brilliant show, Louis C.K is a genius for unleashing a very genuine show that gets under your fingernails and gets them dirty.

The show captures real life as experienced by an average Joe, living in a crappy apartment with a crappy job. Maybe this was a bit too real for Americans? Or perhaps the liberal use of bad language appalled them. Either way, Only one season was mad - alas.

Pamela Adlon is brilliant, for a short woman she demands the presence of a heavyweight boxer (and probably more dangerous?). Excellent actress.

Louis - if your bored of America - come to Europe Im sure we would find a place for you :)

Cliché, lame acting and cardboard characters abound!
14 September 2008
Rachel Nichols is a joke, she thinks acting is getting teary eyed when emotional is enough to convince us she cares. And getting openly annoyed at people is believable for someone who is a great psychologist. Well knock me sideways with with a ton of haddock. Its far from consistent.

She ruined the polished turd of a show with her ridiculous hamming up cliché lines that I said before she did (probably with more presence too). How is it that she as a woman (of what seems like 22) is a genius at knowing EXACTLY what the killer thought. I mean she knew what colour underwear they wore on the day they killed somebody. Seriously - get real - nobody is that good.

This is a watered-down version of Criminal minds (not that Criminal minds is anything to write home about).

Comedy lacking laughs
14 September 2008
This poor movie was some kind of 'joke-telling' platform for Lawrence. Thats the only way I can interpret the way his jokes seemed to crowbar themselves into the movie. Having seen Lawrence perform on stage - I can tell you neither episodes will be repeated.

Lawrence is not believable as this smooth-talking Lothario, with the ability to lead a film. Maybe thats why he hasn't been able to ever do it. I saw a lot of 'getting back to basics' with Lawrence trying to appeal to black people - that was so very pathetic and shameful. He was banging that drum so loud I couldn't hear anything else.

Hopefully with the money he got from this movie he can get a funny bone inserted. I hear they are quite cheap operations these days.

Good Movie in spite of Demi Moore
14 September 2008
I really enjoyed this Movie, William Hurt and Kevin Costner had me believing them the whole way. Even as the killing force, I felt a great connection and sympathy for their characters. There was clever argumentative dialog between them and they really had a great chemistry.

The only reason I gave this movie 6 points was Demi Moore. She came along as this supercop - who seemed to know everything before it happened. If she was psychic it should have made clear - no detective in real life or imagined has been that good. If you put Columbo with Sherlock Holmes with a Nancy Drew and Angela Lansbury thrown in they wouldn't have been half as insightful as Moore's character. Her know-it-all arrogance and her super tough behavior was laughable. Yes you do Yoga, but you cant fight a prison hardened criminal with your arms tied behind your back. Well at least I cant.

It would have been a great movie... oh well...

Please let me be cool!
14 September 2008
Tarantino was the kid at school nobody liked and he desperately wanted to be cool. His movies reek of this desperation.

Some parts are cool and some parts are very contrived, this movie was mainly contrived. I thought the visual effects were decent but they lacked credibility. Its hard to believe a skinny Uma Thurman is going to chop up all those people with one sword. Or that she can defy the laws of physics and escape being buried alive.

The acting was nonchalant, nobody seemed to care that much - but I understood that that was the point. But then I didn't really like anybody, they were all so two dimensional who cared if they died? Nice try Tarantino - haven't seen a movie out of you for a while. Hope your sabbatical is indefinite.

Jack Black plays Jack Black - again!
14 September 2008
Woohoo! I cant believe my luck! I get to see Jack Black play the same annoying humorless limpet as he always does. Maybe this time he will actually 'act' or maybe tell a 'joke' or set up a humorous 'scene'. But no. It was not forthcoming. I was patient, I waited through the whole movie and still nothing.

Did middle America make this movie? It was conservative, stuffy and lacked creativity. I didn't see a single unexpected twist or clever line or even a decent performance (most of the actors were children - so Jack had the advantage of experience).

Please stop Jack Black from making anymore movies about his rock and roll exploits, if he wants to be a funny musician then he can team up with Jankovich or stick with Tenacious D - the movie format doesn't work with the lameness of Jack's humour. He needs a radio spot I reckon - just keep him away from a camera. Please.

Revenge of the CGI software!
14 September 2008
Take a beautiful idea, add tons of CGI with a little dry acting and forced melodrama and sell it like a cheap bicycle at a flea market. Thats Revenge of the Sith.

If you like CGI then you will not be disappointed, but I've played computer games - I know what CGI looks like - FAKE. So it doesn't belong in movies to the extent that 80% is CGI. Why bother making a movie with people if so much is CGI? Make an animation and be done with it.

The acting was below par, I expected more but the shoddy storyline didn't demand too much (battle over evil etc. etc.) I was very disappointed with everything in this movie. George Lucas needs to take a look at himself as a human being.
