They (2002)
This movie sucked terribly.It's trash!
this movie really sucks! don't waste your money on this trash! i'm 11 years old and i just watched it with my dad, i was not scared at all! anyone who tells you that this movie is scary they're wrong!!!! and also people who say this movie is like "Darkness Falls" are wrong..."Darkness Falls" at least had scary parts in it. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS CRAP! IT'S TRASH! IF YOU WANT TO WATCH A SCARY MOVIE WATCH "THE RING" [THE TRUE Japanese VERSION]. "The Ring" was truly terrifying and scary. "They" was just plain stupid and truly had no scary parts at all. Someone renting or buying this movie expecting to be scared will be really disappointed, trust me (and my Dad!)
Gin gwai (2002)
Nothing special, but tolerable
I watched "The Eye" last night. The plot is nothing that hasn't been done before. It's the old tried and true someone gets a transplant of something on their body and immediately begins to have problems or suffer due to the transplant. In this case, a young woman gets a cornea transplant so she can see again. Almost immediately after having the bandages removed, she starts seeing things and starts getting scared. As the movie goes on, she learns that she is seeing things from the 1st person perspective of the deceased donor where her corneas came from. The acting is average at best. Some of the cinematography shows some signs of originality but never seems to consistently go anywhere with it. This film is like a Taiwanese 6th Sense to a point. I must say that the finale explosion was done very well. I was impressed with that. Overall, you could do worse than this, but don't look for any lasting effects after you've watched it.
Bits and Pieces (1985)
Pretty goreless for a slasher/gore flik
This was pretty pathetic. A loser nutcase abused by his mom goes nuts and kidnaps women and kills them. There is virtually no gore in this so-called slasher film. There is no on screen violence at all. There are some close ups of womens breasts while they're tied up before he kills them, that's about the only worthwhile thing I can say about this waste of time.
The Killing Kind (1973)
Tolerable
I watched this early 70's flik last night expecting a decent film. While it wasn't too bad, I was disappointed by it. After being forced to participate unwillingly in a rape by his friends one day at the beach, our unfortunate son gets sent to prison for 2 years. Upon his release at first things seem somewhat normal as he adjusts to life on the outside once again. But after calling the girl him and his friends raped 2 years before and vaguely threatening her, he starts reliving the rape in his mind and starts thinking that revenge is a good thing. A few murders later, which by the way, are basically bloodless and not at all violent despite other reviews, his mother whom he lives with, starts putting the pieces together that her son may not be a very good boy. With an ending that is meant to draw sympathy from the audience, I found it completely unbeleivable and very down played. The acting by the mother and son was strangely accurate, yet something about the film left me disappointed.
