The Village (2004)
Excellent
i don't really know where to start with this film, i wanted to see it, but at the same time didn't. i wasn't really bothered either way, but as it happens went last night to see it, and i adored it. it had me laughing, crying, and biting my nails. the film itself is set funnily enough in a village. its about a small town of simple people, that just happen to have something evil living in the woods next to them. For me this film wasn't about the monsters, it was about the love, and emotion one person can have for another person. i can not go into to much detail about this film as i would not want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it yet. yet what i will say is, go see it, even if you don't think you will like it give it the chance. its a fantastic film with a awesome cast. i only had a few complaints about the movie, many things were left unexplained, for example the beginning we are not told what happened. also a lot of things are left without a conclusion to them, this could be seen as either a good or bad thing. we are left to use our imaginations and decide for ourselves what comes of The Village.
9 out of 10.

Cry-Baby (1990)
musical with a twist
this is a random film. it has a bit of everything in it. things that will make you cringe cos of the silliness of them then things that will you laugh and of course things that will make you shred that one tear!!! it has johnny depp in it singing his heart out and this is really why i watched it! it a a typical cheesy film that unfortnalty just missed out on bein an 80s moive!! its set in 1954 and its about how different types of ppl can live and sing and steal each others girls. it will keep you entertained for a good wee while and it will hae you singing along with all the songs as soon as you see it for a second time.

Gleaming the Cube (1989)
classic!
this movie is great, if you like skating you will love it. if you like mad effects from an 80s movie you will love it. if you like Slater you will indeed love it!!!
it is a good movie with a very bizarre story but it works well and is a great feel good movie. the story is about Slaters brother getting killed when he finds out some imformation about his work that he shouldnt know. Slater takes it in to his own hands to find out why his bro was killed and in the process finds out serous stuff.
Must see, one of slaters classics!!!!

Mean Girls (2004)
a funny, different kinda film.
i didn't know much about this film before i saw it, all i knew was that Lohans character had never been to high school before and she was now starting it at 16. i only wanted to see it as i love Lohan she is a great actress and i think she is one of the up and coming stars or the next few years.
anyway this movie is great. it has a bit of everything and there's parts where you will cringe along with the stars, and parts where you will laugh so hard it hurts. it isn't your typical American high school movie it has some aspects of it sure but it has more of a twist and turn kinda feel to it. i loved the animal scenes, as Lohans Character grow up in Africa, she see's the wild animal in the students and this is a great way to describe what high school is. The film follows the life of Lohan as she starts high school, she gets involved with a group of girls called the plastics. these are the top class girls in the school, Lohan decides she will give them a chance as she doesn't have any friends. things are fun for a while, but then they all turn for the worst!!
it is a great movie and it will cheer ya up and make ya laugh at the madness of American high schools.

The Company (2003)
detailed, long.
This film, seemed like a good idea at the time. yet after i sat watchin it for 2hours i came to the conclusion that it really wasn't a good plan. the film itself is a good idea, yet the way it was produced is awful. as Campbells first writing project i feel for her as it is not the success she hoped for.
the film follows a group of young dancers out there trying to make it big, Campbell being the centre character we see her and a mysteries guy become close and turn into a much in love couple. yet we aren't shown the two of them meeting or anything about how they became to be.
there is no real connection between scenes, the story jumps around from person to person, place to place without tieing them together. there is no real story at all, seems to me like a bunch of random events all happening at the same time. we also get random characters such as "justin" who just seem to be there for no reason at all.
overall i did not like this film not for any acting reason as the acting from all the characters was fine. Campbell who was trained as a ballet dancer as a child, really shows off her skills in the film. saying that the actual dancing isn't really what you would expect from a ballet film its kind of arty and out there, def not ABC. the main reason i didn't like the film was the simple fact that it didn't have a story or plot or drive of any kind it was just random events.
Taking Lives (2004)
fair, no spoilers, detailed.
this is a film that has a bit of everything. taking lives will not only take that from you but about every other part of you to. it has funny moments, shockin moments, stupid moment, amazing moments and most of all SCARY moments. the film itself is based around a killer who after killin his victims he takes their identity and leads their life and then when is bored moves on by killin again. by doing this the killer has been hidding for more than 20 years. it is only until FBI agent (jolie) appears to investigate a nasty death that she starts to put each bit of the story together.
the characters tend not to go into to much depth about each other, for instant Angelina Jolies character wears a weddin ring yet says she is not married this isnt explained. saying this we do see a great deal of emotion for her character, she plays the role well and has a stunning performance throughout the film. the only character that we get some real insight into is that of the killer, we dont really learn why he does what he does but it is said to be in some relationship problem he had with his mother (isnt that always the case?)
in any case it is a great film i enjoyed it and if you are a angelina jolie fan like me you will love it!
