Dead Like Me: Life After Death (2009)
It's a fine production
It seems most of the reviewers had George's bad attitude when writing their reviews. The Movie was very worth watching, although I almost didn't bother watching the whole thing. I was appalled by them keeping the Daisy Character while replacing the Actress. Delicate Laura Harris has a unique look that defines the dead Southern Actress character. To replace her with a not-so-delicate Actress, with bad "bee-sting" lip surgery, was hard to watch. Later it's easy to see why Laura Harris didn't play the part. Daisy went from being a suggested slut to being an actual slut, and, a failure of an actress. Reading the script, I'm sure Laura said "NO WAY!". It did however allow me to understand that the part was written and had to be played, so killing off Daisy at that point would have required a major re-write. Other than that, the movie was fine, a nice continuation. Rube is gone, we've seen Reapers get their light, why not Rube? The new guy played by different rules, how uncommon is that? The movie could have gone on for hours and become a mini-series, but they chose to limit the focus to a Reggie & George relationship to make a movie. I think most of us would like to see the TV series back, but for a movie, it fit the series fine. 9 out of 10, I stand by it!!!
Mister Ed: Wilbur Sells Ed (1961)
The description is off a little bit
Wilbur didn't give Ed away to secure a contract, Ed asked Wilbur to give him away to the potential Client, so Ed could with the Clients Horse.
While the description would fit in a modern show, before the 90's, people wouldn't have given up a loved horse, just to secure a contract.
Mr. Ed is another fine example of how great a world we had, when money was NOT the key focus of life.
Definitely a feel good series to anyone over 55, that was there, did that, and longs for the day we become human again.
I highly recommend this series to everyone, and wonder what the children of today think of it. I know I never forgot "Hello, Willllburrr"
Star Trek: New Voyages: Blood and Fire: Part One (2008)
True Trek
I don't think Gene would have approved having soooo much emphasis on gayness. The last time Gene wrote about gayety, the moral was "live within the rules of your society". Since that time "the rules" have changed regarding gayety in our society. I don't think he would have eliminated the characters, but he would have simply made them a non-issue, much like he did with Ohura. Gene believed in the American concept of everyone being equal regardless of anything, and wrote that concept into every episode in various ways.
Today, gayety is being shoved down our throats by all the forms of media. It's sad, but inevitable, that Star Trek had to become another promoter.
All us real trekkers know that Star Trek died with Gene, and are glad that his wife kept it on life support as long as she could... This series appears to be a zombie that needs to either gain a real Roddenberry life, or be re-buried
