Better than Crystal Skulls... if you're patient
4 January 2024
Good to see Jones back in the saddle. Pacing was a tad drawn out, making the sequences feel a unnecessarily tedious. The writers obviously didn't know how to write a building historical interest into the show, so it fell back to overly long 'action' scenes without meaningful ties to the point of it all along the way. The new female co-star is not very appealing to either look at or listen to. They tried to hard to make her 'edgy' and she wound up just a straight-up, plain b*tch. Worth a watch on your platform of choice despite it all because the show winda out to a pretty good ending, for which a grudging nod can be given.

Invasion (2021–2024)

Pointless, drawn-out drama that is not quite as interesting as watching paint dry.
16 February 2023
Invasion is flat out not worth the time to watch. The brutally slow pace and senseless drama-for-drama-sake just makes this an excruciating experience. It isn't even interesting! Just pointless conflict dragged out over interminable episodes. This is more like a slice-of-awful-life series with a cameo by an alien... i think it was an alien. It was on screen for so little time, i wasn't sure. For a series about, you know, AN ALIEN INVASION, it has virtually no aliens, and so many winding senseless plots you WILL forget what this show is about.

Save yourself a dozen hours and just watch something else. Like a financial audit or bad dentistry.

Fantastic Nerd/Corporate Humour
9 March 2022
This series is the best world mix of nerd science goofiness and bald corporate slapstick. That it's all delivered deadpan makes it even better. This is, IMO, a perfect comedy that i would never tire of. Such a shame it's only 2 seasons. It's bloody brilliant.

What is this festering pile of nonsense??
12 February 2022
This has more in common with Paschendale or Dunkirk than with the Kingsman movies. The movie is all over the place and there's very little of what made the original Kingsman movies interesting: no gadgets, no humour, no interesting villains, no fantastic fight scenes. All in all: a total flop in the context of what it was advertised as. I didn't come to a Kingsman movie to wade through maudlin Great War recreations and godawful British poetry.

As a movie, it was barely interesting, which seemed a terrible waste of talent, time, and resources. The cinematography was fantastic, the acting was excellent, but even that did nothing to make this a movie worth the watch because the script was just flat out BAD.

If you don't give a hoot about any of that, it's at least worth putting on while you do housework.

About as brain-dead as you can get

Wow... this 'Origin Story' is just awful. starting with tossing the established Lara Croft backstory aside, this film makes so many cringingly bad decisions, it's almost too much to watch. the horrible thing was, i kept hoping it would get better... but it didn't! this film makes Lara Croft look like a bargain basement idiot. hard pass.

you had me until the environmental whining
27 April 2018
I was in. i was liking the show. but then the whining about the bad humans taking all their food, commercial fishing bad, environment, environment... ffffuuu.... why not eat a sperm whale? how about a giant squid? if they're muching on Archer fish, those species are much closer to their depth of existence that anything coming out of the Bering Sea. how could we possibly impact that biosphere? i hate shows that have to drive some SJW agenda and fire up the ignorant... too bad too, it was really fun up until then.

absolutely great
28 April 2009
oh my sweet heaven! these guys are just too frickin' funny! the characters from Sex is Zero really make this shine. and the humour is utterly hilarious. i laughed so hard sometimes, i nearly wet myself.

if you get Korean comedies, with their seemingly weird ultra-serious subplot, and can handle the juxtaposition, then you'll just love this film. the humour in the midst of the serious moments can seem like a real weird mix, but, again, if you can dig it, it's great.

the action sequences are really well done and are really very satisfying. for all its humour, the film has some great fights! the pacing is just right and you're never bored watching the film.

lost two points because i thought the serious bits went just a bit too long. but then, that's the Korean taste in film: disparate unions.

WR!

Great movie. Pretty true to the comic
8 January 2009
i enjoyed this film very much. i hadn't known a film had been made of the comic series and i'm glad i found out.

the only thing i found disappointing was the fact that they dubbed Tcheky Karyo's voice over with Ron Perlman's. i don't know why they did that, it kind of ruined that character for me, as i'm a bug Tcheky fan... he's got a great voice and a lot of nuance is lost from the dub-over.

both main characters look like they were plucked right out of the comic book. i was pleasantly startled to see the faces of the comic come alive like that.

great movie. great entertainment. you'll spend a very satisfying couple hours watching this one. :)
