Any single episode of the TV series is better than that
22 November 2020
What is wrong with film producers? I love the show Sponge Bob, so I am basically an easy customer here. Yet, it seems they cannot add live action and money to make Sponge Bob even better. Quite the opposite actually. Story is lame, poor character development, ending is pathetic, 3D animation is unremarkable. On top of that, they changed the back stories of how Sponge Bob met the other guys. High treason!

Desappointing
21 November 2020
Early space conquest is surely an exciting period but here producers decided to make it look boring. If you are into senseless drama, gossip and gender issues, you might find an interest in this. I did not because I am only interested in astronauts training, rockets design and launches. Those occupy a very tiny time in the entire series which is more about how much sleeping and drinking the Mercury crew is into. Lame. Not a single character is likable in the show, they all are annoying or invisible.

Spectacular
15 November 2020
Well, I am not frequently giving high scores, you can check by clicking my user name, confirming this is a real review as well. The movie is definitely underrated (barely above 6 at the time of this review on November the 15th). I am giving a 10 for several reasons. Most of all, as I said, it is underrated and I hope to raise the final score a bit. This movie is not perfect, but it is very good. It is a disaster movie but it is not a mere copy of existing ones, it has its own flavor. I found that certain periods, although not all of them, are very detailed and highly realistic, especially when it comes to military management. Social psychology has an important place in the movie, not only intra family relations, but general human interactions when confronted to threats to life. Butler has a more developed role than usual, less muscular, more next door guy and this is better. Maybe he can become a more subtle actor ans gain bigger roles à la Bruce Willis, yet I find it hard to relate to, and he is barely likable, same goes for the rest of the cadt actually. I found the kid annoying, to be honest, way too fragile and whiny even for his age. I suppose this is plausible if he was overprotected, etc. Even though I did not bond with the characters, it was worth following them, quite a thrill. There are spectacular pictures that do not always entail explosions and destructions. I will not spoil, and I will simply say that it builds a frightening atmosphere. Situations can be disturbing to very young viewers. In conclusion, this is a hollywood grade movie, and its two hours are never boring. Try it and make your own opinion. I think the movie deserves at least 7 or even 8.

Unequal
11 November 2020
I hesitated between giving this 6 or 7 stars. I still do. The first 5 episodes are okay. Not impressive, not bad, good enough to keep watching. I watched not because the story is great but because once you start watching, you need closure. But then episode 6 till the end is a bit too long and stretched, I started getting bored and even irritated. The ending looks very artificial, too much actually. It could have been better. Not sure if this is because of the book the show is based on or the series writing. In the end those 8 rather short (under 25 minutes each) episodes look like a single romcom feature film with a lousy ending. Especially the guy, he looks artificially too soft in the last episodes and I did not find him credible anymore, unlike at the beginning. He even looks like he is high in the finale. Bizarre. I am giving 7, because it made me watched the entire season. But as I said, it is short (few episodes, and short ones). I wish I could give 6.5 stars, 7 is for the first 5 episodes only.

Bad storytelling.
7 November 2020
Very bad storytelling. I had to watch ONE HOUR before I was granted an explanation of what the story was about. Actors are okay, some girls are cute, CGI is okay even though it lacks any style. Music is heavily plagiarized from US movies and video games (Lucasarts). As a whole, this is obviously a try at making in-house Hollywood action sci-fi. Could be worse, but could be better than this cheesy story. A better director would help.

Not bad
1 November 2020
At first I found this show ridiculous, especially the two main characters. But things become more interesting after one episodes or two. The plot is richer than I expected. Psychology discussions are rather good for a TV show. There is action, mystery. It is not about social justice or social commentary (at last!), it is about what a TV show is supposed to be: a story. Then cinematography, wardrobe, locations are interesting. Good production design. The female lead is a bit too much at times but can also be interesting at different periods. As a whole, this is a better than average show, dark, sometimes innovative.

Watchable but she is not American
1 November 2020
I don't see why they could not pick a real American girl for the job. British Lily Collins is not American enough in her attitude, and the show is a bit pointless because of that since the plot is about an American girl bringing an American perspective on French workers. Yet this is watchable, even midly entertaining. I am French and the French clichés are rather acceptable. I have known real life people similar to each French character in the show so this is plausible. Less plausible is the depiction of perfume or fashion industry, let alone marketing operations. So this looks a bit like an old French TV series, romantic, with no real action other than that. I must say the entire thing looks very amateurish, actors hesitate a lot, cinematography is mediocre, same with music. So if you are bored and have nothing better to do, you can watch this, it will be ok but do not expect anything remarkable.

Excellence
1 November 2020
Amazing. Best animal documentary I ever watched. Very innovative way of shooting animals. This must have been highly technical to get such close pictures from different angles, whether they truly shot the same animal or several looking the same. With this level of quality, I do not care if the story is made up (if they choose an animal raising its head and edit so as to make it look like it was watching a bird, I am fine with it because the end result is fun). Very entertaining. Paul Rudd does a perfect job as a narrator, keeping calm instead of the typical overexcited American speaker, yet he has no British accent (another annoyance) and knows how to distillate enough emotion at the right time. Perfect balance between educational and entertaining. I am a big fan. Please make more episodes, tiny or not, animals or not.

Thanks for depicting a girl that is not a stereotype

This is a good show. It is not perfect, it could have been made better, for example adding visual aids to chess moves to make it more comprehensible to non players. I still give it a ten, because here we get an unusual hero. Not loud, not even smiling, rather solitary with her inner universe made of chess moves and pieces. I find her agreeable. Intelligent instead of arrogant and mostly quiet, using her brain instead of talking. Exploring life her own way. I have had girlfriends, mostly artists, that are similarly interesting because they do not limit life to social and mundane things only. I do not like chess, (not chess specifically, rather games in general). So I am more interested in the passion and dedication as well as substance use / abuse and their effects on cognitive performance. The main actress is weird looking with her eyes farther away than usual. She is cute but she looks strange. She does a very good job at moving pieces on the board, so she had to learn moves instead of dialogue lines I suppose and she looks very realistic although I wonder what real chess players would say. Anyway, this is refreshing.

Very good, but...
12 September 2020
Ok, pictures are splendid, aquatic life is stunning and the story is an emotional rollercoaster. However after I watched this, and also during the viewing I had concerns about several things and this is why I am not giving this a 10. I will not spoil so I will not detail everything but I cannot help but wondering how much of this story is true. First if it is true, then this guy has serious psychological issues. He needed to find a purpose and meaning in his life so he became obsessed with an octopus. The fact the octopus touches him might have nothing to do with an imaginary friendship but rather with the guy's skin being warm. I believe the octopus was simply attracted to the warmth and did not care or even know about the guy at all. Then when the octopus gets in trouble I cannot help but wondering why the guy keeps filming and does nothing to help the animal. Hr could have but he did not, simply staring with his camera. So this is like he wants only to make pictures. This documentary looks insincere in the end, if you think about it and do not rely on the editing job to tell you what really happened. I think the guy is a good actor too. Feel free to believe what you want. Anyhow, this is worth watching, this is quite extraordinary to see an octopus in his natural habitat.

Likable characters

This is one of my favorite shows. Acting is great, just as the rest, production, story, music and all. Do not expect a lot of action, explosions or car chases. This is detective work. The relationship between the two main characters occupies an important place in the show as well. This show is like a good book.

Space Soap
5 September 2020
You know you are watching a bad show when you get 2 minutes shot on the moon, most part about a pseudo-psychological assessment and then writers think you are ready for a flashback 15 days earlier that lends you to a female soccer practice. I am bored already. Space is about leaving problems at home and discovering new territories. If this is going to be about drama and everyone's little feelings, please never leave ground and do not attempt to reproduce. Of course this applies to this moronic and parasitic show in the first place. Strangely it would seem writers cannot imagine a female astronaut without making her weak and boring. She is not even pretty.

Arty scifi. They inhabit a mango sliced and exposed the inside out.
4 September 2020
Well, for sure, this is not your typical broadcast. Experimental but not in terms of scifi content, more in terms of acting. The lead actress playing an android exagerates her moves like a hysterical modern ballet dancer, including the meager breasts The show looks like drama on a stage and I find it too distracting because the main story looks secondary. This is weird. Half-interesting, but I am not sure I will have the patience to attend more of this. To be fair, the production is great. Great scenery, lightning, visual effects are good, but the actors... And then Ragnar Lothbrok actor from Vikings arrives in the show with his typical weirdness, as well as a new android that looks like Joan of Arc and all of this strange design choices adds to the confusion. The story is not bad on paper, discussing faith, reproduction, civilization. But why so much weirdness?

Ted Lasso (2020–2023)
4/10
It loses momentum after the first 5 episodes
3 September 2020
I am including my initial reviews below.

From 8, to 6, to barely 4. Less and less effort is done to make this show realistic. Characters in the end are ridiculous. Story is cheesy at best. Once again, an apple show disappointment. Those who pretend critics did not watch apple shows are clearly paid by apple to discredit those who say the truth. Five first episodes were great. But if you are not a 4 year old child, be prepared for something lame after that.

Archive 2: I originally gave a 8. But the show loses momentum after 5 episodes, centering too much on the team's owner who seeks sympathy while she is an A hole since day one. Ted Lasso becomes boring too. I won't spoil and just say he becomes more sad than happy and the show loses its energy. So after 7 episodes I am wondering if I am still interested in this show or just nostalgic of the first episodes.

Archive: Apple shows can be deceiving, and I will have to wait till the end of the season to ensure I do not overrate Ted Lasso. I watched 3 episodes, and it keeps me entertained. The main character is quite lovable, and there is a "feel good" side to the show. Yet it is not melodramatic nor cheesy, it is uplifting and I enjoy it. It seems appropriate to name the show with the name of the character as he is the story. He is like a method applied to a problem, here a soccer team but that could be a company or any other team. I am a bit afraid it could easily get childish or utopian, as there is too much happiness happening too fast though and this could ruin the show. But let's see what the other episodes bring, maybe it will be smarter than this. Definitely worth a try.

Hard Kill (2020)
5/10
Lazy Willis
27 August 2020
Yet another movie with Bruce Willis only present to cash a check. He does not care about anything in this movie. It is as if he read the lines tem seconds before shooting (and this might be the actual case as he must be paid by the number of seconds he spends on the set). Film makers just wanted to have him to make money as well, that's why even if his role is insignificant he gets the largest picture on the poster. And every fan of Willis goes to watch this. So for real, this movie is not about Willis, forget any expectation. It is about a group of younger actors trying to defend a project or whatever. There is some action, but it is not consistent. The only good thing in my opinion is the soundtrack. But the rest, acting, direxting, editing, production, location... I give Hard Kill a score of 5. It is watchable, but it is a mess. I would give a higher score if Willis was not in it.

Disappointing
22 August 2020
Badly written, edited, directed. Nonsensical diversity in this period. Main actress Eve Hewson is bad, she has only one facial expression, e.g. she plays a prostitute that have experience and still looks like she is innocent and melancholic. By the time, a real prostitute would not care and keep eyes on the prize (money), trying to expedite things rather than making them slower and longer. This is more like a fantasy from the brain of someone having no real life experience and probably prone to depression. So we are left with the only interesting characters being the villains. At least they are slightly more lively. And since we do not see them most of the time, well, the show is painfully dull most of the time. Yes the production is good, cinematography is without reproach, but... see above. I give the show the minimum number of stars because I am tired of these numerous recent shows that are a waste of money and actors like Eva Green or Martin Csokas that deserve better scripts. This is disappointing.

Radical left propaganda
19 August 2020
Interesting to re-watch after recent riots and removal of confederate symbols. Without spoiling what is already a rotten script, I will just say that this film literally says it is okay to kill a criminal's grandparents if that helps getting rid of the former. Questionable morals, to say the least.

Grand show
18 August 2020
I enjoyed season 1. Seasons 2 and 3 less so. Season 4 brings the cold back, which is what I like the most in Cardinal. It is one of the rare shows actually shot in the cold, night and snow, which gives a very chilling atmosphere to a thriller. Characters are interesting, they don't talk all the time, which I appreciate, and when they do, they tend to say meaningful things which I also appreciate. I cannot say the same about all cop shows. There is some action, but the series is definitely not about action, more about detective work. Apparently the show was not renewed, this is a loss.

Entertaining enough
18 August 2020
Face it, this is a mess. Story is stupid and unoriginal, episodes are too fast, great actors got terrible lines... Yet, it is watchable and after a few episodes, it gets entertaining. But the whole format is wrong. You cannot cut a thriller into less than 9 minutes pieces, this is anticlimactic. If each episode had received a longer run of 40 minutes and a deeper story, this could have been a great show. In the end, this is small at all levels. I don't think Quibi is the future of mobile content.

Pathetic
24 July 2020
This looks like someone had a dream about banking without actually having a clue what it is to be a banker, maybe someone has an agenda. The show is full of clichés and fantasies. The main character acts like a tourist, innocent, surprised workers around her (of course that's a her) would ask her to go to the point and work instead of chatting. I do not know any serious student that would be so disconnected from work environment. Other characters are completely random too. Episodes are actually very short, under 15 minutes each and yet they succeed in being a total bore, I had to press fast forward half the time. Complete failure.

Waste of time
21 July 2020
This is about lonely people joining a sort of lodge or club or whatever to get some excitement. Right from the start, after staring at the camera without saying a word, narrator promises to save 20 minutes of our time by shortening introductory sequence about the main character to a minimum 2 minutes. That would be a good initiative if there was some excitement waiting to happen. Yet after 50 minutes in the show, nothing interesting happened. By the amount of pedantism the show is full of, it would seem writers thought they were developing something intellectually stimulating and innovative, but the bar is so low, this show will look intelligent only to wanna be intelligent viewers. So cinematography is good, music is good, good locations and production. But directing, acting and writing are not. Maybe this show will appeal to people that have a low self-esteem or in need of a screensaver.

20 July 2020
I am not interested in coming of age drama so a part of this show is boring to me. I liked season 1 and my score is for season 1 only (season 2 is bad). The father of Hannah made the show rich and thrilling, and I was disappointed that season 2 revolved only around the girls.

Bad at so many levels, yet entertaining
18 July 2020
Directing, cinematography, editing, music, dialogues, acting, locations and story are all terrible. It does look like a parody but apparently it is not. The show is shot in NYC (the city never looked so bad in a show), most actors look like they never spent a day there before. Nothing is done properly, everything looks cheap or worse. Zero credibility. Yet, I am watching this out of curiosity because, one thing for sure, 'Big Dogs' is unpredictable. This is like watching a natural disaster. You know it makes a lot of damage, hurts a lot of people, yet you keep watching to know how this ends.

Warrior Nun (2020–2022)

Less than average show
14 July 2020
What is the point of this show? Even after watching 3 episodes I still cannot figure. The main character is a girl that was physically disabled and is now able to use her body thanks to a magic christian relic. It seems the series makers would like us to feel sorry for her past, present or whatever. But she has an attitude that makes her unlikeable. Be prepared to listen to non-stop sarcasms and shallow comments she makes all the time, as she is also a narrator voice on the show. If that was not sufficient, secondary characters are even worse. Nuns, even if one accepts to believe they could be warriors, are totally fake and one-dimensional. The same can be said of the rest of the cast, except maybe this female entrepreneur, yet her character is not developed seriously enough. Summarizing, this is a less than average show, poorly written, poorly acted and poorly filmed. It looks like a Euro show in some regards because of its low quality, but apparently it is not.

Good movie
5 July 2020
Okay the middle one hour of tge movie could have been shortened to half that time but I was in no hurry watching this so it did not matter. I give it a ten because this movie could sustain my attention during its entire length, there are several memorable jokes in it, and I like both main actors, Ferrell and McAdams who never disappoint. Regarding who sings what, I listened to Swedish singer Molly Sanden and I prefer McAdams voice (if you pay attention you can hear when she is the one singing). I had a good time, I got entertained, this is all I ask from a movie, thus a ten. I must add a sidenote regarding Eurovision. It is well known that countries do not send their best over there with the true intention to avoid having to pay for the cost of hosting the show. This is not something made up for the movie, unfortunately. Also, this is a good surprise from Netflix as I typically enjoy their series but not their movies that I usually find dull.
