The Summit (II) (2012)
Details were changed for no apparent reason.
24 November 2014
Confusing and untrue at times. I had to read about what actually happened to find out the facts after 2 hours of poorly put together interviews. Also the Serbian climber was quite selfless and died because he unclipped to let other people pass him, not to pass Skog. I don't know why they would make such a strange mistake on this detail, but it's either deliberate lying to make the story better or poor research.

At 8 a.m. climbers were finally advancing through the Bottleneck. Dren Mandić, from the Serbian team, decided to attend to his oxygen system and so unclipped from the rope to let other climbers pass. Mandić lost his balance and fell, bumping into Cecilie Skog of the Norwegian team. She was still clipped to the rope and was only knocked over. Mandić fell over 100 m down the bottleneck.

Duplicity (2009)
9/10
Witty and entertaining (if you have an IQ around 100...)
5 September 2009
I'm going to write this review in an informal fashion.

I liked it... I though it was funny and witty. The script was good and the chemistry between Owen and Roberts was great. However, some may find the story convoluted and because of their lack of comprehension they will say that the plot was thin... but these are the people that will give District 9 ten stars and they're also the people that make me fear for the future of the human race. When I read "flashbacks are too complicated" and "the strength of the story ends up being it's weakness as it becomes to complex to follow" or something along those lines, I secretly wish eugenics were not taboo....

If you're intelligent enough to understand a movie like Memento, without being confused, you will enjoy Duplicity. If not, go watch Terminator Salvation and giggle at the bright lights and loud noises...

Good story, terrible cinematography
3 July 2009
It's really a shame that the action sequences and scenes were filmed in the way that they were because it really killed what could have been a perfect movie. The story was engrossing and the acting was well executed, but... the way this movie was filmed was god awful. During action sequences, shot angles were strange and poorly done. At times I felt like I was watching someone's home video. There were no emotionally highlighted scenes. No pause for dramatic effect in any way. Don't get me wrong, I don't like cheesy music and drawn out pauses, but this movie had so many characters and so many chopped up shaky action sequences (thank you Bourne series for starting this trend...) that you often couldn't tell who had died and why this was an important event. The story, however, is great and I would still recommend this movie, but would not recommend Michael Mann direct anything ever again.

Jacob's Ladder (I) (1990)

Really weak plot
16 June 2009
This movie was much more annoying than scary. Watching it I was confused at all the things that were going on. The events had no link to each other and were really pointless. Just scary filler that was meaningless. The problem with this movie is that, in my humble opinion, the plot device used totally ruins the movie. The bulk of the movie itself is entertaining, but the ending is just a massive let down. I remember I was so mad after seeing the ending, because it was so simple and made all the movie's events and character development totally meaningless. Insufferably stupid ending ruined the movie. Much better movies out there. The Machinist is a much, much better, comparable, if not similar movie.

A very different kind of movie (no spoilers)
30 August 2008
There Will Be Blood is a movie unlike any other I have seen before. There are a lot of very important instances that are implicit and that can be confusing for those who can not follow a movie with a fast plot. Having said that, the action is very, very slow but the movie is still quite entertaining.

The musical score is very well done and it does not portray the mood of the scene, but almost exclusively the mood of the main character. The cinematography is very well done and although it was a rather awkwardly delivered story, due to the fact that it is not based on dialog but rather implicit events, I found that it still somehow fit together.

Solid performances by all the actors.

However... a rather disappointed ending.

The Strangers (2008)
3/10
Not even close to good...
8 June 2008
Warning: Spoilers
This poor excuse for a horror flick wasn't worth posting about, but after seeing all these 9/10 and 10/10 ratings and reviews I had to say something.

This movie insults your intelligence every step of the way. Cliché scenes and a plot as thin and inspired as a blank piece of paper.

Synopsis: -Couple is in a isolated home. -"Creepy" girl knocks on the door at 4am to ask is Tamara home. Man leaves to get smokes for girl. -3 masked strangers freak out the girl. -Man returns, trio trashes car. Man gets gun. Decides to leave girl alone to get to a ham radio. Somehow gets overwhelmed by a bright light and then knocked unconscious... Remember, man has a shotgun... -Girl runs around and hides, gets caught. Both are tied down to chairs and stabbed "because you (the couple) were home". -One of the trio says to the other "it'll be easier next time". -Roll credits.

Pathetic. I and my friends were laughing and yawning. Waste of money.
