Wallander: Innan frosten (2005)
Not bad, but nothing special either
I went to see this movie mainly because my father paid. I haven't read the book, so I didn't know the plot line before seeing it.
The beginning creates interest right away and after that it just rolls on. In into the story comes all the characters and the subplot (Linda's relation to her father) is quite cliché, but it becomes apparent that it is needed to help the story.
The story has a lot of loose ends, and a while in I didn't understand how some parts were connected to the others. In the end, most of these ends are tied together, but some are still strange and never gets a real explanation. Most of the parts that were meant to be scary, or at least raise the pulse of the audience wasn't that scary, as most things were quite predictable.
Anyway, I enjoyed this, they managed to tie most of the loose ends together, and it was a quite interesting story, but nothing I'd pay to see at the cinema.
5/10
The Triangle (2001)
Interesting and scaring
This tv-movie has a lot that most real movies don´t have. A great directing. The director of this movie spends a lot of time showing it from different angles, which makes it more creeping than it really is. Sure, it has some flaws, since not every part of the storyline is explained, but it´s still has a great setting. Even though it has a wonderful cast and great plot, you can´t go away from 1 thing: Who/What is the real villain? In the movie, we´re never told. Is it the ghosts or their "friend"?
I´d say, go and rent this movie, even with flaws it´s great and entertaining.
Thumbelina (1994)
Better than most Disney movies
Don Bluth does not only make a great movie with "Thumbelina", it is better than most Disney movies by far. It has a great mix of voices, a great plot and some interesting and beautifully drawn characters.
If Disney would´ve made this movie, the characters would not look human, they´d look abrupt and ugly.
The greatness of Don Bluth animations, is that there are so many different songs, or nearly no songs at all. In Disney movies, the main character sings at least 3 songs of her/his own, and the little "love duet" together with her/his love and the villain sings 1 , the highest 2 songs, or there are no songs at all.
In Bluth´s movies, the main character may have at the highest 2 songs, a duet and at least 2 villainous songs, or nearly no songs at all.
That is why Don Bluth´s movies are better than Disney´s, there is a such big mix.
"Thumbelina" does not ONLY have this, it has sweet characters that you learn to love, villainous villains, and interesting drawn other characters.
Treasure Planet (2002)
Best animation from Disney in many years
I went to see this movie with some expectations, but I thought that I´d be let down. I was wrong. I haven´t seen this kind of great animation since Disney released "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" while back in 1996. The adaption was great, the voices and character-design wonderful and a fitting score throughout the movie. Though I wouldn´t take small children to this, since the pirates look a bit "scary" with their 6 eyes, and weird looks.
This is by far one of the best animated movies Disney has made in several years, I felt like they´ve gone back to the "golden era" ("The Little Mermaid and "Beauty and the Beast").
Though this might be a pretty violent film, the whole story was wonderful and definitely a movie to watch.
Overboard (1987)
Great movie, but....
This is a great movie, which gives you lots of laughter and joy. Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn are perfect in their roles. But the ending is predictable, it´s just one of those prince-gets-his-princess-endings. The movie could´ve stopped right after we see Joanna goes away in her yacht, looking after Dean.
But, even if the ending is predictable, it´s still a great movie, that can be watched over and over again. 9/10 stars.
Robin Hood (1973)
Great movie
I´ve seen nearly all the Disney movies and I have to say that this one is the best so far. It does not only have good voices, but great animation and interesting characters as well. Even though it has some errors it´s still a good movie and can be watched over and over again.
