A Fitting End to a Masterpiece
18 August 2022
THIS is how you end a show. BCS is a heavily character driven show, and to end it by giving its characters the comeuppance THEY actually deserve, is refreshing.

I hope the team never makes another show on the BB universe. Because BCS is a masterpiece and we could all let go knowing that we were already given the best with BCS.

WENT BACK TO BASICS but LACKING IN OOMPH
6 June 2021
I enjoyed this better than the 2nd. Expectations ran high on the 2nd movie and it allowed itself to be so overdone it became comical at some point. The Devil Made Me Do It attempts to rein in the camp and boost relatable scares. I wish it went further in its own exploration of Satanism, that's where I feel the story could have weaved the psychological discomfort the 1st movie really mastered (on top of the jump scares).

Still worth a watch!!

Solid Sequel. But with UNNECESSARY FLAW
12 June 2016
I am a HUGE fan of this franchise and James Wan has absolutely done a magnificent job in sticking to the basics of a good scare but with a twist. The first movie absolutely blew us away and I really enjoyed the second one... you cannot help but cheer for the Warrens and their love story.

SPOILER AHEAD: My only beef with this movie is the "animated" Tim Burton-esque creature that appeared twice. It was unnecessary and spoiled the scene. The nun was enough to freak everyone out every time it made an appearance.

I cannot wait for the 3rd Movie... if ever there will be another ;)

The Second Season is Formidable
24 June 2015
I wish this show had more publicity. I admit that the only reason why I stuck with the show (even with the absurdly shaky story development in the first season) is because of Eva Green, Josh Hartnet and Timothy Dalton. This show was carried by its acting. The first season was trying to be so many things at the same time, to the point where you ask yourself "What the hell am I watching, who the hell is the adversary... what the hell is happening... why in gods name is Dorian Gray in this show"... but you just can't keep your darn eyes off Eva Green.

The second season is a million times better. More streamlined storytelling and perfect timing of shock, awe, and empathy. Eva Green is still unbelievable, best acting I've seen in a long time, and Hartnet is giving the performance of his otherwise mediocre career. The villain is formidable, the visuals are impeccable... but still, what the hell is Dorian Gray's purpose in this show XD.

Please give this show a chance to blossom to its full potential. Very happy that it got a 3rd season.

Intelligent & Magical
22 June 2015
It's very seldom we get shows that have a body of beauty and intelligence in them. Most of TV today is quick gratification, recycled imagery, and predictable turn of events. Strange & Norrel is like reading a Dickens novel... slow romantic build-up with thorough insight to its characters. It's not a show for everyone but for people who enjoy investing time on a good universe, this is it. I read the book a decade ago probably... and loved it. It's a joy to see it on screen, portrayed by the right actors. If you're looking for Harry Potter-esque or LOTR-esque magic, then this is NOT a show for you. But please do try watching Strange & Norrel, it will broaden your magical imagination to a more mature perspective ;)

Exciting movie with Cliché Roles
21 March 2015
We all have this level of expectation of Liam Neeson movies. And this is exactly like any of his movies in the past 5 years. Here's my 2 cents:

1) To Joel Kinnaman, just in case you're reading or whoever knows you is reading... please tell your agent to stop typecasting you into cat&mouse roles that require you to wear a hoodie. You look so good in suit. I would love to see you take on a role that is outside of The Killing.

2) Why is everyone in Hollywood after Liam Neeson's family? XD

Overall, cliché roles delivered well by a solid badass cast. Good old fashion action packed fun. But forgettable...

Old Fashioned Brutal Fun
10 March 2015
OK OK, let's just all take away the ridiculous plot holes or weak script, sometimes we all just need to watch an entertaining action movie without over thinking it. It's all fun, and it really doesn't hurt that Dan Stevens (whoa, cousin Matthew from Downton Abbey) shines in this role and carries this mediocre story to something memorable. The OST is also noteworthy, it really provides the icing to the cake. The directing style much reminiscent of Drive with an 80's vibe. No doubt Stevens will catch the attention of many Hollywood producers for future action movies. A really nice, 360 degree break out from Downton Abbey.
