The Little Things (2021)
Wanted it to be better
All the Oscars and all the king's men, couldn't put The Little Things back together again.
More atmospheric than story. Denzel played a similar beleaguered character in Taking of the Pelham, 123.
Nothing scary about Jarod Leto.
Never liked Rami Malek and he was just plain wooden here.
The Sound of Music (1965)
A classic that makes me cry every time I watch it!
I'm watching as we speak. I remember watching the live version on TV several years ago and hated it. The next year, all I had to see was the opening scene of the hills and I knew exactly what movie it was. Chills! I didn't know it was on tonight, a happy surprise.
In 5th grade, just 1 year after it came out we learned the all the songs. You just never forget. My father had passed away that year and this movie and these songs are so heartfelt that it gave me hope.
A true story that is as charming as it is thrilling. It breaks my heart that the incomparable Julie Andrews can no longer sing. So you relish every song she performs with gusto and joy.
Christopher Plummer is divine. The whole cast of children are a delight.
Rogers and Hammerstein's Oscar-winning masterpiece!
Punishment Park (1971)
Picture 2121 if #45 gets another 4 years!
People are remarking in 2001, 2008 and 2012 how timely this "mockumentary" is. Try 57 days to an already threatened Election, BLM and a pandemic and you have the lawlessness you see.
1971 was Vietnam, post hippie culture but today the anarchists is the Administration who have hijacked and denigrated our Constitution led by a Russian asset "president" who incites racism and violence.
City Homicide (2006)
This is the best crime drama most Americans haven't seen!
I have been watching for several months on Hulu. Out of 84 episodes, I have 16 left; I'm stretching them out because I don't want to lose my 'friends.' I haven't loved the new characters but that is what shows with longevity do and so the writing keeps me loving it. So smart, witty, gritty (yay, not rated) and just an all around excellent police procedural.
I told Hulu they needed to advertise it because there are very few comments that are a year old. With so little original television it's nice to find something new.
10 lines of text...OK: if you still find yourself lacking in quality TV do find Little Mosque on the Prairie. Filmed in the Canadian prairie will make you will laugh, cry and be totally moved by these characters and how much you love them regardless of how they worship.
