Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2013)
I'm at a lost for words
3 seasons, more than 50 episodes and they still manage to outdo themselves. Every episode is better than the last one. Every time they manage to surprise, get their characters that much more development and leave you with a craving for more. I was liking this show a lot by the end of season 1. I liked it best among the superhero shows at season 2. That honor was shortly transferred to DearDevil, but by the half point of season 3 Agents of Shield not only surpassed any other superhero show, but most television in my eyes. Maybe only The Wire and Game of Thrones are keeping ahead, but I'm not sure how long. Is it perfect? No. The action isn't AAA Hollywood quality, the acting is only above average most of the time (although sometimes it's brilliant) and there are some silly stuff going on, but even then it's pretty amazing compared to anything I ever seen. The only thing I really really hate is that the differences in the budget between the show and the movies make them two very separate entities, which is a real shame because the show presents better development of the world that is MCU than any of the movies.
Hard Breakers (2010)
Awesome
First of all, let me get something clear. I'm not rating this film based on the quality a film should have. I'm rating this film base on what it's trying to be. And it's stupid, tasteless and shameless fun. And it does beautifully. There is nothing subtle or puzzling about it. There is nothing even cool. It's weird, it's clumsy. It's what it should be. It's just about a lot of people making fool of themselves. And not in the "oh, what did I just did!?!?" way. More like "Mr Officer, what's wrong with running on the street naked wearing a pirate hat. Is it the pirate hat?" The script is none existent, the character's have little to none development. There isn't any sense in the most that is happening on the screen. But that doesn't matter. Just go watch the trailer and if u laugh, there is a big chance u'll find other things to laugh in the movie
Cannibal Holocaust (1980)
This film? Really?
This film was recommended to me for being brutal and really shocking. I don't know how much experience with horror movies you have to lack for thinking that, but believe me, if you do, you better check some other movies like Saw and Final Destination. Of course, in therms of plot depth, this movie is far better than them, but I wasn't expecting a warning sign for the cruelty of the civilized men, I just wanted some gore, and this movie was a joke. I nearly fell asleep. But what can you expect, it's a film made in 1980th.
There was something about how cruel and reckless the "white" man can get in this situation, but I really wasn't paying attention, so I won't argue about the plot.
I'm just warning you - it's not a shocking movie, Happy Three Friends is more shocking. Tokio Hotel is more shocking. It's the freaking 2010 and we have a lot more brutal footage in video games than this movie has to offer.
Baramui paiteo (2004)
Epic "Manga Style" Karate Showdown.
First and foremost - don't judge this film before it ends. It starts slow and dirty, but before you know it, you're staring at the screen with your jaw dropped.
I don't know how the filmmakers succeeded with this, but they actually developed a full character. And I mean full. The protagonist starts from the bottom - both physically and mentally, goes trough some devastating crisis, only to get out stronger every time.
Not only the main character goes trough changes, the movie itself moves from one state to other. At first it appears to be a typical "back street mêlée" flick, than it moves on to the typical Japanese manga story with the "I-am-weak-now-but-I-'ll-train-and-will-be-back-stronger" plot and every time you think you know what to expect it turns to 180 degree. And I don't mean just "A-new-enemy-arises" surprises, it puts the protagonist in a whole new situation where you're able to see his reaction, and how they change over time. It's like watching a kid grow and mature, but only in two hours.
The film is great on everything it does, but you have to be at least a bit familiar with the japan culture to grasp the full power of the story and the main character. So, if you're not, maybe you won't like the movie as much as I did, but even then you'll find a lot of things to like and it's a must watch!
