The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent (2022)
Weirdly emotional bro flick
This title mostly falls into action + comedy genre, but for some reason I found that it had very deep characteristic drama built inside of these main genres.
As title mentions, this movie gave me very emotional brotherly emotions. The synergy between Cage and Pascal was exquisite and I personally related to them both numerous times.
I was hoping that Haddish would be more on the screen since I personally like her skills as an actress.
The plot line that this movie is built on is quite basic, old school action movie script and if this movie wasn't made with Cage acting as his meta, the result would have been much worse and should I say banal.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
As a die hard MCU fan, this was a struggle
There's much, I mean... so much comedy within dialogue and scenes that it got overwhelming and the movie started to loose the excitement and the grip early causing me to loose focus on the big picture. Ultimately I was in this point that I did not get any emotional feelings of the story and outcome.
Thor, Foster and Valkyrie has evolved as a characters since their first appearance and personally I don't like the direction where they are heading with these characters. Most delightful character was Korg with is truthful and humorist dialogue.
Finally Bale's Gorr was shining because it felt that Christian was the only actor doing his job as any job should be done; do it well.
This movie might be entertaining for those who aren't interested in the depths of MCU lore, timelines and entwining stories, but for me as a die hard fan since the first movie this was tough watch.
Being a parody of itself isn't something that fits into MCU, let Wayans' bros do that for you if want to go overboard.
The Batman (2022)
Great acting, but thats not enough
This movie is trying to be serious and non-gadget version of Batman and this is the demise of the entertainment value of this flick.
Wallowing in the anxiety, mental problems and vengeance is basically the foundation which this seems to be built on and this causes boredom and fatigue, for me.
The acting shines through the whole movie, cast is great, for my taste atleast, but that is basically only thing that gets the stars from me.
I cannot recommend this for those who want to sit back and enjoy.
For those who doesn't want to take a break from real life and enjoy pondering great mysteries of mental health, this one is for you.
Boss Level (2020)
Entertaining and witty
This title drops to the best action/comedy movies that I've watched. Is there deep and thoughtful plot, well, not really, but it has all that it needs to be entertaining flick.
The cast isn't really from the top tier, but everyone is doing their part so well that the result is nearly excellent.
I personally love Sasso's approach for his character and his ability to blend comic career into this one, great pick from production/casting side.
If you want to watch something meaningful and emotional this might not be your thing, but if you have good drinks and food available with possibility to watch this with your like-minded spouse/friend/family - it will be a blast.
Soul (2020)
Animation aimed for teens/adults
Movie has quite good plot, but little bit too complex for smaller audience to comprehend that what's actually going on.
This said, teen/adult viewer has ability to understand metaphoric and referential things the movie offers.
Animations are Pixar quality as is the sound effects and instrumental parts, but this movie lacks pure eye candy that Pixar usually does.
The movie mainly rolls around scenes that are not that exciting to watch.
As I do enjoy various genres of music, even jazz, the musical scenes and jazzy content was getting bit overwhelming for me and fellow viewers.
This is not the best Pixar I've seen and since they are reaching out to mature audience, this ain't "that" kids movie that the children will talk about together.
The Rental (2020)
Was hoping for smart one
Movie had it's advantages, but they didn't really extract all the possibilities they could have done.
The plot isn't really anything new and unseen.
The basic trip/vacation stuff and relationship content with thrillering suspense of twists, or atleast this is what they tried to achieve.
If you have nothing else to watch and want to watch something to waste your time, then try this one.
I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020)
What waste of life
Long and dreadful dialogues with a lack of visual content was gruelling as the scenes went on and on.
The content of topics might be trembling so it might be hard to keep up with the "plot".
Some might say this movie goes to intellectual side, but even if viewer is managing to handle whats been seen and organize experience along the movie or afterwards the result might be; why?
I cannot even pinpoint a genre for this title, but cerebral hermorrhage drama might describe this one at the best.
Watch this when you are high, I dare you.
Gemini Man (2019)
Not far from Asylum
This movie has a plot that has no intellectual tip.
The scenes and dialogue is similar to the ideas and own games I used to play as a child. This said, the movie seems like it's from 8-12-years-old boys script.
There is no good idea for the cloning and basically why bother cloning a guy to replace the previous guy. This kind of idea has been shown way too many times in entertainment.
And the CGI, I won't get into details but for most of the fast paced scenes it is visible to the naked eye that motion and detailing of CGI is very unappealing.
Overall is very close to Asylum productions, but bigger budget and good cast (whom cannot save the movie, but deserves the 2 stars for their involvement).
Frozen II (2019)
Not approved
The new installment seems to add more and more color effects and sparkling light shows to stimulate the audio experience, which was amazed by the small folks in the crowded theater.
The plot seemed to be off the rails multiple times and the consistency or sharp dialog guiding the main plot was clustered with nonsense gibberish and off topic scenes. These gibberish scenes and small talks had the attention of the aimed crowd.
For adult the movie isn't worth the time;
few one liners which sparked semi laughter cause of their innuendo,
ambitious light shows and remarkably similar songs one after another started to give me nausea and end-me-now feeling.
There isn't well built catharsis or climax.
4 stars belong to Olaf.
Doom: Annihilation (2019)
Too bad to be even funny
When the first information was revealed that there will be new "DOOM" movie in the makes, I was thinking "Oh man, surely it will be better than the one with Dwayne in it!"
Bird Box (2018)
Long and stagnant
The start of the film was mysteriously nice, but it didn't take long that the film/plot started to get stagnant and limping. This kept going till the very shallow and pointless end.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Great piece of CGI entertainment
This movie is packing many aspects into its backpack and amazingly it succeeds delivering all of it.
How is it possible to fit massive load of heroes on screen?
Is the directing and cutting hasty, editing messy?
The answers are; Very possible and no, there isn't anything wrong with the linearity of plot and scenes.
Russo bros have obviously been workshopping the content for years and it has paid off.
Presentation works, no side jumping plot, fitting many top actors with enough dialog to keep everyone on the board with his/her favourite superhero along the ride.
Movie actually is best of superhero movies that have been made till this day.
Black Panther (2018)
Cannot recommend
Movie seems to fail at every step from the start. It tries to be witty, smart, elegant at the same time, but lacks everything.
It seems that there is way too much conflict within Wakanda and among its ruler (family). This messes up the result of everyone deciding to support whatever cause or line of action they choose.
I didn't have any high hopes for this one, so I didn't get much downers for this, but most of all I didn't get any upper either. I get it that this relates to origin story of the new "superhero", but all I experienced was some weird version of Lion King.
Flaked (2016)
Light to watch drama/comedy
When I watched pilot first time few months ago. I couldn't watch it till end, don't know why, but it just didn't get interesting for my taste. And my taste, that is wide.
After few months I decided "Ok, lets give it a another shot." And I started from pilot and after a while didn't notice I was at 3rd episode already.
So the series is actually quite good to watch, its loose and relaxed with daily drama and some dramatic twists. There some comedy aspects too, but they mainly are drawn to medium black comedy.
Only thing I don't care much is the intro/theme song, it's annoying and gives me jitters.
Rings (2017)
Do not waste your time
I rarely review movies, but this version of cult horror movie is most definitely the worst and banal.
The pure horror elements have been disbanded and replaced with more thriller-like twists. This is where the issues begin and end, the actual intensity of horror is gone and the movie wallows with the historical "flash-scenes" immersing "why, who, what and where" dialogue.
I'm personally into unnatural scene and mostly I seem to find movies that give me anything but few scared moments here and there. This movie failed to deliver a single moment of adrenaline or anxiety.
3 points for Galecki because he kept making some weird duckface quite often during the movie.
Deadpool (2016)
Works like a charm
Ryan takes and piles Deadpools comic characters wit and sarcasm into a real-life version so well that wait for the sequel is going to be agonizing pain. Visually there isn't gigantic scenarios of destruction like other Marvel movies commonly have, but this movie goes deeply with violence and humour with a twist of black. Movie does NOT suit for serious people, since the humour is so big part of the violence that most serious people just grunts unpleasantly. The biggest separation from other Marvel titles is that this one goes overboard with the possibilities "hero"movie can offer. If you want to enjoy and have good time alone or better, with friends (booze), this one is top notch.
Edge of Tomorrow (2014)
Success of movie
Cruise does one of his best performances. I really haven't been noticing before how he can take lot of more than the "Top Gun" gestures. The selection for the female main role is a shame. This actress, Blunt, is unknown to me and didn't convince her skills of acting. Paxtons lightweight side role is a nice tune-up (better than the one in The Colony).
Movie contains lot of humor which is intellect and works very well as situational comedy. As a matter of fact the movie offers much better content of comedy than most of the todays comedies that get the to see the daylight even in theaters.
Very nice movie, if you love sci-fi, action, comedy and little bit drama, this will surely be enjoyable film. Remember; these are movies and not to be taken seriously, you're missing the joy of the entertainment then.
