I think I've seen this movie before

If you're having trouble sleeping this is a perfect movie to choose. I have always liked Kenny Rogers, so I really wanted to like this film. It turned out to be a movie filled with cliches predictable plotlines and mediocre acting. There are several very talented actors in this film but the story prevents them from reaching their potential.

More than a gangster film!

There are good reasons that this film was nominated for a best picture academy award! It is one of Humphrey Bogart's best early performances and includes a standout performance by Claire Trevor. The film is filled with solid performances including very sympathetic and moving performances by the dead end kids. It is however much more than a gangster film, it raises important social issues and is a film that will move you emotionally and make you think while it is entertaining you.

It delivers exactly what it promises.

This movie is exactly what it claims to be, an enjoyable Christmas romance. You know they are going to get together, but there is a lot of suspense around how and when. It has interesting and enjoyable characters along with all the expected Christmas romance movie elements. I highly recommend it for a quiet evening's enjoyment.

An Excellent Film Overlooked By Too Many
15 April 2014
High production values and convincing acting make this film one of the best of the faith based films to date. Based on a true story one cannot help but be moved by the horrors of the Holocaust. Yet at the same time we are inspired by its compelling presentation of the power of faith and the will to survive. The bond of love between the two sisters is especially moving. Julie Harris and Jeannette Clift both provide nuanced and convincing portrayals of the ten Boom sisters. Jeannette Clift received a Golden Globe nomination for her portrayal of the older sister Corrie ten Boom. Unfortunately this film has long been overlooked by the mainstream critics and movie goers. There seems to be a cultural bias against faith based films that has prevented this film from receiving it's due credit. I highly recommend this film!
