Champions (2018)
Writing needs work
First show was very good. I like the cast. But the second show was not as good. I can't imagine a smart kid like that leaving the water running full blast while he reads a magazine, box of cereal emptied on the table. Not believable that that his mom would allow such behavior as well. And the writers are making this kid look way too ungrateful. It made me sympathize with the dad and hate the ungrateful kid. I hope the kid learns gratitude. If I can't root for the kid I think it defeats the purpose of the show. So far he is very unlikable and I would ban him from my apt and not feel a bit guilty. The writing needs more subtly to make if more believable. I think this show has potential but for now.It lacks "heart"..
Columbo: Death Hits the Jackpot (1991)
Plot Makes No Sense
I'm a huge fan of Columbo. I bought the entire series. This episode follows the formula and would deserve a vote of 10 except for the flaw in the plot. Freddy wins the lottery and agrees to give the ticket to his uncle to hide his fortune from his estranged wife. Then Uncle murders his nephew. That part is believable. The twist makes absolutely no sense. (Spoiler alert) Then we find out that the uncle includes the estranged wife of his nephew in on the murder. 1)Why would the Uncle tell his nephew's wife about the money Jeffrey won. Without her, there would be no way that the wife could mess up the deal and he could keep all the money. 2)Why would the estranged wife even go along with the murder. All she would have to do is immediately call the police, report the uncle and the courts would hand her all the money. As I said, it just doesn't make sense. Rip Torn was great though.
Columbo: Murder in Malibu (1990)
Wrong Formula/Acting was horrible
I'm a huge Columbo fan. I even bought the entire series recently. I don't like the formula to change at all. I like to see who killed the victim first and then find out how Columbo will prove it. This episode was hard to watch. Wayne Jennings tries hard and I give credit for persistence but he just cannot act; and when came on to the victim's sister I thought that was totally unbelievable and too transparent for Jess McCurdy to fall for it. I like Brenda Vaccaro but even she was off in this show. Peter Falk is great but I have to say that in this episode he seemed like he wasn't feeling well. This was really a waste of film and time and is a weak link in the total of the series. The original formula is excellent so I always say, "If the car ain't broke, don't fix it."
