If only more movies can live up to the hype like this
17 August 2008
I finally had the chance to see TDK yesterday and it was well worth the wait and the price of admission. If only there were more movies like this that live up to the hype. This and "Batman Begins" far exceed the other Batman movies that have been made. It's very unfortunate to think what could've been for Heath Ledger after this performance, he was just brilliant. Christian Bale has cemented his legacy as Batman, Gary Oldman is great as Commissioner Gordon, and I thought I'd never say this but Eric Roberts and Anthony Michael Hall did well in their roles. Is the door open for Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Two Face to continue? I hope Christopher Nolan has at least one more installment for us.

One of Stallone's very few good movies
23 March 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I first saw this when it first came out on video and liked it a lot. Stallone played his part well, Billy Dee Williams was good as his partner, and of course Rutger Hauer was great as the ultimate bad guy. With the movie made long before 9/11 it definitely had scary visions of New York under attack.

Who had it figured that Stallone was dressed as his wife at the end? At first I really didn't think it was him, then again I was much younger when I first saw it.

This has been mentioned as a "French Connection" of the 80's and I agree with that. A very underrated movie in my opinion, they certainly don't make them like that anymore. Too bad Stallone made one bomb after another following this.

A wild ride!
31 January 2004
You know the feeling after seeing a Quentin Tarantino movie - That was hardcore! And "Kill Bill" is certainly that. A little departure for him this time around, as the focus is on violence, violence and more violence. I missed the stories behind the characters like in "Reservoir Dogs" and "Pulp Fiction", but he pulls it off here. Uma Thurman was great, one of the most intense roles any actor can take on. Looking forward to Volume 2.

Solid Scorsese Film
13 July 2003
Overall this was a good, solid film and an interesting look at the origin of street gangs. There were a few slow parts here and there but nothing that made me lose my interest. Daniel Day-Lewis was outstanding as Bill "The Butcher", it's unfortunate he doesn't do many films anymore. Leo DiCaprio and Cameron Diaz were good as well. I would hardly call this a bad Scorsese film as several here have remarked, it was certainly better than "Bringing Out The Dead", "The Last Temptation Of Christ" and "Cape Fear".

Good, not great sequel to the series
5 July 2003
Let me start off by saying the first two Terminators are among my all time favorites. I left the theaters amazed and thought the ticket was well worth it. I'll always own copies on tape (and now need to purchase the DVD's with the extra features).

I can't really say that for "T3". While there was good action and Kristiana Loken was very good as the T-X, I thought there could've been more new ground to cover. How about a more extended look at the future, after the nuclear bombs have dropped and the humans have to fight the machines? How about seeing John Conner as the great military leader he supposedly is? Or seeing how the terminators were first created? Maybe we'll see those concepts in "T4" assuming there will be one. There can only be so many times these machines can go back to track down John Conner and whoever he's associated with. Overall this wasn't bad, but after 12 years of waiting and hoping for another sequel I expected a little more.
