Outside the Wire (2021)
A Mediocre Action Flick Marred by Uneven Pacing and War Glorification
Outside the Wire" is a middling sci-fi action movie with an unremarkable IMDb rating of 5.4. Although it boasts outstanding robot design and the captivating backdrop of Budapest, the film is let down by its uneven pacing and superfluous scenes. The lead actors, Anthony Mackie and Damson Idris, put forth commendable performances, but the film's focus on glorifying war detracts from any insightful examination of drone warfare and AI ethics. An unexpected romantic scene feels particularly out of place. While it may provide a watchable action experience, "Outside the Wire" fails to make a lasting impact or offer thought-provoking substance to truly engage viewers in a meaningful way.
Kung Fury (2015)
Beautiful
If you are dying today, and you have survived 80's, this is what would be flashing in front of you in the moment of your death. The moment when VCR start syncing your tape is precious and it pushed me back to the past. Idiotic plot is well written, I was laughing sincerely. This movie is fun, entertaining and most of all, awesome. After watching it I went to the street and start fighting with everyone. I think I know karate now. It seams that there is going to be Kung Fury II, and I'm anxiously waiting for it from this moment on. It doesn't have any erotic scene, that is why I only gave it 9. But hopefully, sequel will be filled with 80's eroticism. Thank you Thor.
Skinwalker Ranch (2013)
Amalgam of all things paranormal
First, I must say that i'm fan of this "fake documentary" genre, and I didn't know what to expect of this film. It starts like a rip off of The Dark Skies movie, but after that, everything goes south. Every minute it becomes more and more naive. It feels like there was no scenario, everything happens chaotically. Evidences are coming one by one and in large quantities, explaining that what is happening, can be just anything. You will try to came up with assumption of what is going on, trough entire movie. And then it ends, leaving you there siting without any question answered. Camera that flicks before something odd is going to happen just spoils everything. The acting is not the good, but it is bearable, and I liked that X-files tribute cameo.
Dark Skies (2013)
Reviewd by an alien abduction expert
I was waiting this movie for so long, and now when I finally saw it, it was kind of disappointing experience.
Must say that I'm not easily impressed when it comes to the theme of abduction phenomenon. There is an abduction/UFO expert in the movie that knows all about the subject... well that is somebody like me. Thing is, this guy know basics. For example, there is only one alleged alien abduction in history in which abducted was not returned... but lets stay on the subject, still this is a movie review. Writer probably didn't asked experts in the field when he was creating this. Stephen Spielberg did, when he was crating "Close Encounter of the Third Kind".
From the first frames, movie looks like "Desperate Housewives". This scenes supposed to look mundane, but they don't. Those look superficial an colorful.
I must say I loved owl on the wall in the kids room. That was nice touch. Everyone who knows something about alien abductions know that owl is most commonly reported by abducted. People first see owl in the room before they get abducted. That is just how it goes. Spooky moments in the movie are totally lost by predicable American horror movie routine. I'm easy to scare, and I wasn't scared ones, because all scary scenes are in the trailer for the film, and those that are not, are scenes of the people standing with their backs turned to the camera. So lets say that this is not horror movie at all.
Is it an alien flick? Lets say that fans of alien genre will find time to watch this, but it will only stay in their minds because they are going to think about how they can change it.
Only real out-wordy place in the movie is the ending, when aliens play tricks on the boys mind. Entire movie should look like that. Like Alice tumbling down the rabbit hole. People experiencing abductions live in the world that play tricks on them, the world that is distorted. Abductees know that their world is distorted, but they find a way to overcome this feeling and they just live their lives the best the could. This should have been more emphasized through entire film. There are people around the world that are experiencing things like those shown in the movie on daily basis. By my standards, this film is just making fun of them.
This movie pure summer fun flick, to watch with a girlfriend by your side, with out any worries that you are going to jump and make a chicken out of yourself when scary scene turns from tense, to just nothing.
Dark Shadows (2012)
A Pilot Movie
I have a rule of thumb, do not watch movies that have less than 7 on IMDb. Because of I admire Tim Burtons work, I made an exception. Only thing I learned after watching this is that my "Above 7 on IMDb" rule, prove right ones again.
Movie starts nicely, but after some time, there are too much different stories, and each one is dragging you in different path, and none of them is leading us anywhere.
After the one of the most boring showdowns in history of cinematography John August (story) is leading us to the quick ending.
All the time you will have that filling that this is just a pilot of the some serial with thousands of episodes, and that it is made just to introduce us to the set of characters and their ability's.
Mutant Chronicles (2008)
This movie is everything what is wrong with SF movies today!
Wow! This movie is everything what is wrong with SF movies today. It went wrong from the beginning, this style of narrative picturing will not work in games few years ago, needless to say that whole story is wrong and not even suitable for kids. It's 2008, you just can't make movies like this now. Audience expect more! I gave my best to see it trough whole movie and I just can do it, there was just too many stupid lines and I don't understand how they got Ron Perlman and John Malkovich to do their part. I even registered here on IMDb to say this. Bottom line is: Don't ever in your life waste time to see this, it is not even funny.
