Excellent entry in P.O.V. terror!
16 March 2024
I will give full disclosure I'm a massive fan of the series which has had it's ups and downs. This entry gets it mostly right. As a portmenteau collection it gets its through line. The first episode is an intriguing wtf. Which suddenly switched to a new section that plays like the movie Aftershock. Good. Then it gets experimental and weird in a good way. The third ones pretty trippy in a VR Tron gone bad as performance art. I know that's a lot to take in. Hard to explain that one but its fun. Then the film nicely dovetails into the the last two episodes.

It's really gory with some excellent effects. The sick murder sequences in the penultimate footage episode gets really weird. With cool trippy music and visuals. Then the finisher. Not bad. Weird and gross.

This is an excellent entry. I loved the first movie and the later movies rock. Even with the odd duff sequence. This one's all good. Didn't miss a beat.

Came to see Nate Bargatze
3 November 2023
UK viewer here. I've watched the show on and off since the early nineties. Took me a while to get used to the putting on a show long sketch format. In the UK they try and make the sketch shows as fast as possible (mainly down to shorter running times). Cool episode with some great sketches.

The Hallmark Halloween one was cool and it's always great to see Christopher Walken. Nate Bargatze who I only just heard about (on the Spade/Carvey podcast) is pretty funny in a naturalistic style. Shows great promise.

Another reviewer was annoyed at the metric measurements sketch. That was funny stuff. We have exactly the same issues here and wait to you get the European variables on all sorts of measurements. I'm getting brain fuddled just thinking of Km and miles. Anyhow funny show and I'm glad it's still pushin through.

Fast paced informative documentary.
13 August 2023
Wasn't really sure what this was going to be. Having watched it. It charts the history of YouTube from its formation to global money making behemoth. It points out a lot of the problems created by free speech/click chasing content. Some good, some bad. I'm a fan of YouTube and my algorithms are mainly game and film. I've even had to go to a YouTube content creator gig with my kid. Fever pitch! Saying that I know from my friend group some would enjoy this while others would be have trouble accepting what is an on the level documentary. It is a good show for teenagers who would benefit from getting a handle on the ideas presented in an entertaining way. It also packs a lot in. I remember the Momo stuff. The local primary school had to email parents to tell them of the dangers! I hate the word triggering but some will instantly shut off what is a decent documentary on a timely subject.

Amityville: An Origin Story: The Haunting (2023)
Season 1, Episode 1
8/10
Enjoyable crime/horror documentary.
28 April 2023
Seen the movies. Well the first 6 or 7. Even the one with a possessed lamp. Read the original book which is pretty cool. I am a sceptic. But love this sort of thing. Well made with plenty of footage and Interviews with key people associated with the history of the story. There's plenty of new details which have been brought up recently. I know the actors from the first movie definitely had their scepticism (but played along for the publicity of the movie) which probably won't come up. Maybe in later episodes. The haunting of the house is the hook but the reality is what I'm interested in and this documentary covers all the bases. Will definitely watch the rest. As an extra note on the street view of the Amityville house in real life you cannot see it as it has been blurred out. The rest of the street can be seen.

Fun lightweight retrospective.
20 March 2023
Cool retrospective on a movie that's nearly 40 years old. I used to watch the movie on VHS a lot as a kid so this documentary has some cool info on this comedy gem (I'd taped it off the telly with Louis Malle's Crackers on the same 3 hour tape way back in the late eighties). Most of the cast and crew get to reminse and offer some geek trivia. I'll admit the movie is flawed from the fact that you can't guess the killer as there were 3 endings. But as a comedy it works. This documentary digs deep into the production and is a cool addition for fans of the movie. Definitely a passion project and that comes through in the feature. Lots of clips and cool film connections from the cast and crew. A nice companion to the movie.

Entertaining show. Lots of cool archive footage. Well made.
6 December 2022
I've tuned in for the Chris Farley episode as I was a fan way back. So there is some behind the scenes stuff at SNL during Farley's run that's really interesting. There's a lot of cool talking heads who paint a good picture of the past. I watched the fall of Andrew Dice Clay. I was a fan of his movie. But I had never seen his stand up. Like jeez. So it was cool too see behind the scenes footage and the hidden stress of the production. Over in the UK I had no idea of the events around the release. But yeah he's a bit of a weird one. The Rosanne episode. Wow I vaguely remember some items in the news. Didn't know how far down the rabbit hole that she went. The later episodes I'm going to watch. I'll have to admit I only know Richard Pryor and Dustin Diamond! (Bit scared of that one) of the later episodes. Dave Foley provides a cool narration and the show is well produced. But yeah there is a car crash element which does make some parts of the show fastinating.

Clerks III (2022)

Is this for the Hallmark channel
17 October 2022
I'm a big fan of Kevin Smith and love Mallrats & Clerks and a few others. But this starts out on a downer and well it doesn't change gears too much. Obviously the shop stuff is fun . Cast as always excellent even the newbies, the cameos, err, gross geek bait with no jokes. Like the Jay and Silent Bob reboot it sucked. I know the guy has had some misfortune and probably wanted to air his demons, but Christ not like this.

I will say on the plus points the retro nods to the other 2 flicks sometimes works, other times not and there are a couple of descent tunes. Hope this next one will pick up the pace.

Funny word play with dark humour
26 June 2022
Just re-watched this episode with friends. Remembered the hilarious build up to the cast getting hypnotised. By the second half I was in stitches. Dated but excellent sitcom. The cast (top notch acting all round) nail it. Forgot some of the white knuckle jokes that set it up the psychiatrist visit. Best episode in the series 🤗

An interesting take on food history.
6 September 2021
I used to dig in my grandfathers larder under the stairs and dig out old food stuffs such as 20 year old peaches. They were ok. These guys go above and beyond in a fun way. The chemistry between the host works and the element of discovery brings a new angle to the show. Loved series 1 over here in the UK and hope the commission a second series.

A fun Robert Hayes movie
15 June 2021
Finally watched this is 2021. I'm a fan of Hayes due to Airplane & Fifty Fifty. The movie is redneck heaven and thats what intially put me off. Now it's a cool time capsule of a era that has great cinematography and looks spiffing on Blu-ray. Cool supporting cast as well. Not laugh out loud funny but very good humoured. If you don't like Country and western songs it could be a problem. But hell I wanna visit Iowa. An undiscovered gem.

Dam can't even watch with my kid 😭
4 May 2020
Was looking forward to this one as some sort of tank girl fun factory. Instead I got boring cop show stuff, gang torture, no laughs. My daughter wanted to see this flick not me so I thought I better check it. No idea what the demographics for this is as it looks colourful but thinks it's deep like The Crow. Margot Robbie is cool and the cast interesting. Start again.

Total disintegration and chimney drops, wow.
3 May 2020
I'm not big into gang culture with people puffing up there chests and racing whippetts. But I am a big fan of The Raid and by God this is the coolest episode yet. I'm enjoying the series on an action level. Each episode had some tense scenes but this was excellent. Im into TV and movies for escapism, not living in a skip skag rubbish. Blew me away. Some amazing technical shots in this episode as well. Tense TV.

Good if you like wordplay and physical comedy
26 February 2020
Watched the first two episodes. Episode one is funny but takes some time to get a handle on the dynamics. The next one had plenty more laughs and had me in tears with an attempt to thwart the lie detector. Definitely watching the other ones. Good show.

Good flashy movie with rubbish music
16 December 2019
It's got a B-movie story with a flashy cast doing preposterous action in cool cars. Good. Michael Bay let's the editors pick up the slack and try and fix it in the edit. The music is below par as it's music for old people. The Fast franchise picks cool new tunes not boring rock, get with it Bay. Apart from that solid action movie.

Get going after hokey start
14 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
There plenty of dumb dialogue which is pretty funny and people get messed up real bad. The early attack is ok, bit silly and some night action is really put together with a hope it works. The last hour is sweet big noisy shoot outs in chic business buildings, nice. Some cool effects shots and some rubbish ones. Must of farmed the effects or some one got bored. But for a stoked action movie not bad better than that Heat rip-off he did.

Fun family cartoon
12 August 2019
I have a low tolerance for most youth shows and my daughter will put you tube on if it's boring. Luckily this one's cool for both of us. I will admit I like Gravity Falls and Over the Garden Wall and this fits snugly into that bracket. Watched 3 EPs and will watch rest.

Double damned idiots
19 June 2019
A near perfect end to a highly entertaining series. Quite emotional in parts, and me being a northerner, for a TV show to get to me that's impressive. He fought a system that was too busy too even notice, which is so sad. Watched in three days and has left an indelible impression on me. Cool show.

A tough but nessasary hurdle
18 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Your sympathies are really tested, especially with the moving of some string. Yet I personally still empathise with Yoyo and his stress. I would want out any way possible too. Really enjoying this series with its mix of humour in a horrible situation and a cast that make it very believable. Gonna finish this series soon as.

A slick opionated thrill
16 May 2019
Just finished episode eight and after a not so great start this series got addictive. All the hate must be from Tales from the Crypt fans or something I just don't get it. The stories are cool with a class cast, shiny production values and a nice score. I think the problem is that the stories are well written but not all the twists pay off as well as the build up. Bottom line is its entertaining and leaves you thinking, whether your on board or not. Thats gotta be a good thing.

What do these haters like to watch, NCIS?
16 May 2019
I've really enjoyed this series. The first episode was a tough start but after that it's flown. This one has a fun go at immigration. Yeah it's a bit Kafka but the story holds and made a tense 45 mins. It's a TV show that has an opinion whichever side of fence you stand that's gotta be a good thing.

Creepy, atmospheric and funny.
9 May 2019
Watched this a while back just after release and highly enjoyed it. It has a subtle build up that something's amiss and then piles it on. I've watched a heck of a lot of movies and this is one them that every so often I go back too. Got the dvd and hope maybe one day it will get a hd airing. You gotta dream. Anyhow sweet movie.

It's a fair cop
5 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Enjoyed the episode with the talky sections holding your interest mainly because of the cast. Not that twisty after a time and the previously on Line Of Duty foreshadowed one of the gags that sets up a Departed type scenario. But still lots of fun with some nice payoffs. Gripping telly.

Warning: Spoilers
Just watched this and thoughly enjoyed. Like what the hell, people wanted more cast to die. It's a bit double eddged that as that's what is expected. I loved the cinematography as with it being dark it made the fire and light really stand out and made many parts super intense. Also loved the creepy library section and felt some closure. Stoked for the finale.

Intense crime flick
25 April 2019
Went into this a little worried as many of the negative reviews say it's slow and the film had questionable views on its characters. The film is a cool crime story with pitch black noir morales that gets pretty intense early on and holds you in till the end. Some parts are offensive but adhere to the character traits of the story. A good throw back to the Italian crime flicks of the seventies. If you like this you'll love Brawl In Cell Block 99.

An informative watch
14 January 2019
I watched this in the UK and was keen to see the first two episodes as it's from a time I'm not that knowledgeable of. I will admit that a few weeks ago I watched the Peter Jackson World War doc and the colourisation process was amazing. On this show it ain't too bad and does add something to the footage. I would not have watched if it was in black and white and not in hd. Cool history, top narration will definitely watch the following episodes. Nice too see a documentary that gives you the facts with no agenda except to inform and educate. Thumbs up.
