Young Sheldon: Hobbitses, Physicses and a Ball With Zip (2019)
It's not all about Sheldon
The show does a good job giving all the characters a good amount of screen time, despite its name. My personal favorites are the ones where George Sr. And Missy are involved because I'm a sucker for daddy/daughter storylines (they can be so complex, heartfelt and just adorable). George is also a very good character in this. From the way he was described in TBBT I thought he was an alcoholic jackass and he is anything but. I like how different it is from TBBT. The stories are more serious, there is no laugh track and I have found myself more invested in these characters and where they are headed. I'm looking forward to the upcoming seasons, storylines and emotional turmoil I know is going to hurt like a mother$_@ker.
Haul Out the Holly (2022)
Lacey wasn't enough to save this trainwreck
The only reason I gave this a 2* is because Lacey (she has done some enjoyable Holiday movies!) was in it. Unfortunately, she wasn't enough to save it on her own. I find it difficult to watch anything where there are no redeeming characters (they were pushy, selfish, overbearing and just plain annoying!! Melissa Peterson was an overbearingwhack job in Baby Daddy. She needs to branch out a little) and the one character that makes it worth the watch ends up being like the rest of them anyway!! Christmas should never be a "duty", "rule" or "requirement " that could end up in a citation!!! Don't waste your time with this one!!!
The Wonder Years: Kodachrome (1992)
TWYs takes on DPS
It's Dead Poet's Society shortened and almost just as sad. Teachers like Miss Shaw don't come around very often (heck the only one's I know of I've only seen in movies and T. V.) but when this particular topic is done, it has a way of making you think. Why is the method these teachers use so frowned upon? Why is EVERY Board of Education full of, well uptight idiots? It's teachers like Miss Shaw and Mr. Keating who make life more interesting and worth it.
The Orville: From Unknown Graves (2022)
An episide like no other!!
What a beautiful episode!! Claire and Isaac's emotional moment, however short lived it was, was absolutely beautiful. The lessons we can all learn from this episode about relationships, acceptance, admitting something painful and seeing things from the other person's view, well, they are all just beautiful reminders of how amazing this world could be if we all just opened our eyes. A beautiful episode with beautiful moments and messages all around!!!
Undone (2019)
A triumph in every way!!
I have been unknowingly watching rotoscoping animation (All Dogs Go To Heaven, Mary Poppins) since I can remember and even tho I've never seen it I knew about the movie A Scanner Darkly. This show is incredibly visually appealing with the moments that go from "real life" suddenly jumping into another realm and the story line just sucks you in with it's concept almost right off the bat. I love the main character too!! She's funny, spunky and not afraid to be herself even tho she is sometimes considered the black sheep of the family. I love this show and I hope to see more of it!!
Under the Tuscan Sun (2003)
Read the signs
A funny, heart warming and even at times a relatable movie that makes you want to take risks and look for signs that send you off to find where you belong. One of my go to pick me up movies!!
Ridiculousness (2011)
Annoying as F_@&
My dad watches it and so I hear it in my room. Chanel West Coasts laugh is so freaking annoying!! Not only that, she laughs at things that aren't even funny!! It really is utter ridiculousness and not in the "I'm so excited to watch it" good way!! If I could have, I would have given this show a big fat ZERO!!
Speak (2004)
If not for this movie...
And her performance, I would completely and totally despise Kristen Stewart as an actress(I have found everything else she does totally and completely flat and unispired). She was AMAZING!! Her performance made me cry, laugh and cheer. It was pretty close to everything I need in a perfect movie (I'm a huge Horror movie fan but the only horror here was dramatic and not bloody/gory) and she brought it. This is just my opinion and I mean no offense to those who do like Kristen Stewart or her work.
SparkShorts: Out (2020)
Absolutely Incredible SF
This is, without a doubt one of the best (not just Pixar) Short Films I have ever seen. Not only is it funny and heartwarming it can teach even adults about accepting the ones they love for who they are. A must watch for people of all ages!!!
Lady and the Tramp (2019)
Look for the silver lining
POSSIBLE SPOILERS!!
I'll admit, races, genders and some iconic scenes have been changed or completely taken out. This is a Disney, re-imagined live action movie. It wasn't going to be a shot for shot carbon copy of the original but I believe the main themes of love, loyalty, the importance of a dogs love and the high demand of adopting over breeding are all very clear. Aren't those the most important things to take from a movie? I thought it was cute and worth a watch.
Deadly Virtues: Love.Honour.Obey. (2014)
An unexpected one
I started watching this with the expectation of being creeped out and disgusted by one character and by the end of it my whole perception had changed. Definitely some very sexually and emotionally intense moments. Overall a really good watch.
Green Book (2018)
Will become a classic
Years from now, when I'm old and feeble this will be one movie that I will recall with fond memories. It will go down in history with classic movies like Forest Gump, The Shawshank Redemption and It's A Wonderful Life. Not only is the movie funny and heart warming, it teaches you a valuable lesson about very different people coming together in very different and unexpected ways despite their differences. Not only that, but it has lovely and incredible music. IT IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST SEE!!!
The Devil's Advocate (1997)
A MUST SEE!!
What an AMAZING movie. The concept it simple and still so full of layers and twists. Al Pacino is at his best!! He's funny, intense, serious and his presence in the movie just gives you chills. Keanu and Charlize are wonderful together. Their chemistry is undeniably magical and they are just so incredible. This movie is INCREDIBLE!! I LOVE IT!!!
Sucker Punch (2011)
I LOVED IT!!
I couldn't believe the reviews were so bad. The fight scenes and music were intense, the girls and the Wise Man are AWESOME and the message is cool. I loved it!!
A Gift Wrapped Christmas (2015)
An 8 off the bat!!
I was almost 15 minutes into this movie and gave it an 8 before the 15 minute mark because Gwen's character was such a breath of fresh air!! She was funny, happy, stylish, pretty, honest but kind, smart and so very sweet!!! She was one of the BEST Christmas movie main characters I have ever watched!! I highly reccomend!!
Parks and Recreation (2009)
Too me completely by surprise!!!
I started watching because I knew Adam Scott would eventually join the cast in the second season. Before I started I thought, "God I'm going to have to watch almost two full seasons just to get to see him. Well, I started to love the characters, the story lines and the humor. I wasn't sure if I was even going to like it once A.S. came on any way but by gosh the show took hold of me and now I think it's hilarious!! Maybe it is like The Office in that it's filmed in the same style but this show holds it's own!! I'm totally hooked!!!
Serenity (2019)
I expected MUCH better!!!
I thought this was going to go in a completely different direction!!! I was very disappointed and was not happy at all with where this ended up. But, obviously, just my opinion.
Barry: ronny/lily (2019)
Writer, director, actor extraordinaire!!
Bill Hader does it all for this very unexpected but very enjoyable episode!!! The fight scenes are brutal and somehow funny!!
Get Out (2017)
Wasted my time
I...don't...get it. I had high hope's to find out what was going on with these rich white folks. When it was finally revealed what was going, all I could think was, HUH??!! I thought it was just downright moronic. I did think the racial barriers the movie tried to overcome (interracial relationships, treating others with respect no matter what race they are, etc.) was commendable but it wasn't enough to save the film. That was a big let down for a horror fan who was looking forward to this movie.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: Caretaker (2018)
Didn't like that!!!
What a ridiculous episode!! The fact that any parent could convince themself that their child is better off dead because their life might not be perfect is ridiculous!! The episode based its entire premise around what possible reason a sane, successful woman would have to kill her entire family but guess what, THERE IS NO REASON!!!
This Is Us (2016)
The only problem is...
Kate. She's whiney, rude and self absorbed. She is so rude to her mother, who tried her best to raise three teenagers by her self, for no good reason. Honestly, I would drop her and keep Toby if it were up to me. That is my only problem with the show. Other than that, it's a 10 in my book.
A Star Is Born (2018)
Rated all for the acting.
Bradley Cooper, Lady Gaga and Sam Elliot were PHENOMENAL in the roles!! The story, not so much. It felt so erratic and jumbled. I am happy to have seen it for the sake of the actors because I LOVE them, but they deserved a better story line.
The Skeleton Twins (2014)
Out of their element, and...
Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader are incredibly talented comedic actors. This is such a different path for both of them to take and they have exceeded expectations. This story is about the difficulties we face with people we love and how our screw-ups in life help us to lean on those we love and trust the most. It's an honest, funny and heartwarming movie that is a must see.
