Pride and Glory (2008)
Incredible Movie
What a great film. The combination of both Colin Farrell and Edward Norton was always going to be a good one, especially the effort of Norton, I seriously can't remember when he didn't just own any movie in which he stared. The director, Gavin O'Connor, has really portrayed the story in a bleak, dark and yet exciting way, well for the viewer anyway.
The story was grand and the other actors played all the roles perfectly. John Voight and Noah Emmerich also played stellar roles of which you find it difficult throughout the entire movie to decide if they are good guys or bad guys. I finally concluded that they are both just guys. The dark and destitute world of police corruption and what is often portrayed in movies such as this and Training Day where money which is always around them becomes too tempting and criminals soon find its worth for allowing them to function in their activities.
Finally if you like dark movies with a great story and a little bit bad ass, especially a scene concerning Farrell and a baby then you will definitely like this one.
Hell Ride (2008)
Hell Ride or Porn Ride
That's what I kept asking myself while watching this film. I mean the amount of nudity and sex was one thing but another part of the movie which gave its genre to the adult industry was its lack of storyline. Really I just wanted to get up and leave during the whole movie, but I persisted. I persisted in the hope that maybe the storyline would get better, that there might be a good twist at the end. However I couldn't have been more wrong. In the end I persisted because I figured I could write a bad review for it if anything after watching it.
I mean don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with beautiful, sexy and vibrant women, but when the director only shows that along with a shitty story thinking it's what the viewer wants to see, it insults us all. To think we are all so shallow to only want to see burlesque from rep ratable, big movie industry players is preposterous. My advice: hire a different movie.
