Invaders from Mars (1986)
Really wanted to like this, but couldn't
The original was one of my favorites from the 50s. I couldn't even watch this, despite such well known movie makers and actors. Every action of those that are controlled by the aliens was way over stated. The dad, already acting weird and a huge scar on this neck, has to put 30 sacarine tabs in his coffee? I had to turn this off. The kid anoyyed me from the start. Sorry Tobe.
Hillbillys in a Haunted House (1967)
Drive-in junker
Very little worthwhile in this movie, The 3 big horror icons, Basil Rathbone, Lon Chaney Jr and John Carradine, even if they were just collecting a paycheck and Joi showing her assets is about it. The writer should have been made to watch Hillary speeches for eternity since the script is so unrealistic. The primary function of this movie seems to be to allow the viewers plenty of time in the backseat without worrying about missing anything. Almost so bad as to make Ed Wood look like a genius. The songs are all an equal shade of terrible with the comedy relief being so unfunny as to have his union card burned. Not a movie to own but to watch once and never again. I saw it on Turner who gladly has finally given love to the obscure trash films.
Gas! -Or- It Became Necessary to Destroy the World in Order to Save It. (1970)
Useless trash
First off, I'm a fan of Roger Corman and cheesy movies, but this was just plain horrible. If you want to see why the Hippie lifestyle went away then maybe this movie is for you. Otherwise it was a total waste of time. Seemed that everyone associated with this cinematic dreck must have been doing way too much LSD. Just about every line in this movie made no sense. The acting was sub-par even from those that have done fine work in other films. There was no plot in the acceptable use of the word and those involved should hang their heads any time this movie is mentioned. The only thing good I can say is that I managed to not see this junk as long as I have.
