Sex 'n' Death (1999)
A Unique Look into TV in the not too distant future
Being a big Martin Clunes fan anyway, it was inevitable that I was going to enjoy this programme. The thing that amazed me was how much I enjoyed it! A TFI Friday/OTT Cable show. The host, insomniac Ben Black, the producer, hassled ex wife Stella, the stalker magician Fandango & the Jeremy Beadlesque character played by Martin Jarvis all come together & interact perfectly, making this one of the funniest & darkest comedies I have ever seen. Bens awful childhood (poor little orphan Ben) & his impending divorce, the fact that he hasn't slept properly for weeks due to the heat wave & his supermodel girlfriend Sophie has just dumped him (by telling the newspapers before him!) all spiral into events that could result in his suicide or get him more viewing figures than ever before. 5 years on this is still something I Watch at least every couple of months, it's still as fresh & as compelling as when first shown on TV & I would like to congratulate the writers on that. More shows like this please!
Diana (1984)
Diana - R H Delderfield adaptation
I remember watching this years ago as a youngteen & being blown away by the romance of the story - I became a big fan of Patsy Kensit because of this programme - Years later I am trying to get hold of a copy of this, I've already bought the book, can any one help? - I've tried the BBC & all other sources I can think of. This is a mini series that needs repeating & if you haven't seen it - buy the book it's excellent. 7/7/05 - Thanks to all those people who contacted me to say how much they too enjoyed this - the rights to the mini series were sold so unfortunately it won't be repeated on British TV, this is a shame. I did manage to watch it again about a year ago & it still stands strong & had lost non of its magic. I still say go out & buy the book & your imagination can fill in the pictures!
