The Beach Bum (2019)
I enjoyed it until the attacked a senior citizen in a wheelchair for money - satire
It's fun and I know it's satirical farce (with the true message of the film at the very end - spelled out - but yeah I really got turned off when they attacked a senior citizen in a wheelchair for money.
Fortune and Men's Eyes (1971)
Pretty good, and available on Youtube
I saw some friends talking about this film on the internet, and decided to see if I could find it anywhere. It's not available at all on DVD, but my state library system does have it on VHS tape. I have no VHS tape player, as I got rid of it years ago. BUT, someone mentioned that it's available online. free.. The resolution isn't very good, but it's watchable!
Only God Forgives (2013)
A Terrible Movie! Gosling must have been desperate for $$$....
This movie was one of the worst I have seen in years.. I feel the plot/directing/dialog (what dialog).. acting etc were below Ryan's standards and he surely must have been in hock to an underworld figure whom he had to pay off big time.. or he was just desperate for $$$ to make this heap of trash..
The garish colors of the set added what to the plot? The longing looks with very little dialog... I feel the foreign director/producer wanted Ryan to add credibility to their film.. I don't think so! It's a sad excuse for a movie..
Wow, what a waste of time!
Tenure (2008)
Well Written, Directed, Acted and Scored. A Gem!
This movie was not written for a mass market. It was and is a labor of love. It's narrow cast audience will know who they are. I say, Give this movie a chance, and you may end up laughing out loud a number times as I did, along with a good number of knowing chuckles.
I felt the movie overall, was very well done in many aspects of film making. In all, a joy for me. I'd say anyone remotely affiliated with University life, and an open mind, will have a lot of fun watching this movie, and an enjoyable experience.
I'm sorry I'm not as erudite describing the movie from a technical perspective, as some of the other reviewers, but I just had to write out my feelings about this Gem of a movie.
Thanks to the producers, to MIke Million, and the well cast actors for making this movie! Thanks to ALL who were involved in making it!! Thank You!
Transformers (2007)
It's a Decepticon Plot! This movie is a poor excuse for entertainment!
This movie is a Decepticon plot! It's so subversive with it's military violence, and extreme loud explosive sounds, and blurry action scenes that I had to leave the theater because of the intensity of the events shown on screen, and the way to loud volume of the explosions and gunfire.
The plot is simple, as are the main characters. Yes, the special effects are sometimes awesome, but they only occur in about 15 to 20 minutes of the total 2 hour and twenty minute movie! There are a few good laughs, and jokes. The usual battle between good and evil/ heaven and hell/ angels versus devils is depicted. The GM product placement in this film will not save GM! Little children don't buy cars! The theater was half filled with kids. I'd give this movie a 6, but because of the overly high ratings others have given it, I'll only give it a 3 to help to offset the overall ridiculous high average rating!
I fear for the entire populations hearing after suffering through this overly loud movie. The next time, I'll take ear plugs! geesh!
Heartbreak Hotel (2006)
Great film from Sweden!
I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this film. Great acting and writing and directing!
All of the characters were well fleshed out, and fun to 'live' with on screen. Moving and touching at times, and funny and good witted at others..
It's such a treat to see what's happening in other countries film wise! I tend to think Hollywood no longer has the last word on film anymore! Many other writers/directors/actors in many other countries are constantly coming out with engaging and fun movies! I so enjoy to see other parts of the world and their homes and culture...
Great film making!
Pikunikku (1996)
As Professional as a High School Film Study!
This was one of the worst films I have seen in a while.
I really think that I or any student could have written or filmed this movie, as long as you have some pretty faces to use as 'characters'. The movie attempts to portray the main actors as actually having mental visions of another human affecting their lives, ala A Beautiful Mind, in the first part of the film. Only toward the very end was this menacing vision revisited. In the rest of the movie, we see the main character happily and mindlessly drifting from neighborhood to neighborhood ending up at the ocean. An occasional reference to the meaning of life or the belief or even existence of GOD is supposed to lend this movie some credence.. a lame attempt.
This is the state of Japanese Film making and acting,(in 1996 I know), and you wonder why Chinese actors were used in Memoirs of a Geisha! LOL
