Very interesting
27 November 2023
While I enjoy the satirical version of Catherine the Great (aka The Great) this one is more accurate and interesting. Helen Mirren is also a brilliant actress with a Shakespeare background and Russian ancestry. (One person said she was trying to act Russian. She is literally half Russian mate). Someone else on here complained that the real Catherine was much younger, and she was playing a character in her 30s. Welp Catherine the Great was 67 when she died and while she was in her 30s when the emperor died this allows her to age. Many actors play older characters why not the other way around or are we only allowed to enjoy female characters under the age of 35? If you look at the history of theatre men play women, women sometimes play men, old play young and vice versa especially character actors so this is nothing someone who actually cares for the art of acting would fret over. Another person complained that it's vulgar. If it's vulgar for you because it depicts some very real parts of history (and human nature) then go watch Maid in Manhattan and leave this show alone with your shallow critiques. The costumes, cinematography and writing are all well done but the best of it for me is seeing a brilliant actress play the role of a remarkably sharp and shrewd historical figure.

First two seasons are the best

This was better when they were in Scotland and France. America sucks (I say that as an American). Sure they followed the books and I haven't finished it so maybe they leave, but probably not. Another quality thing Americanized into a mediocre oblivion.

Season 3 ruined it
7 February 2021
They should have just stopped this show after season 2. I used to watch it with my daughter it was so fun. A girl turns into a fairy, switching from real like to an imaginary cartoon world. It was interesting and smart. But the main actress left after season 2, fine, she had other gigs. They just should have stopped Liz instead they got new writers, and a whole new cast, and voila, a piece of crap. Bad acting, poor writing. I was almost as annoyed as seeing The Originals canceled for the crappy Legacies, but that's another show and story altogether.

Favorite Disney movie
6 February 2021
This is one of my favorite movies I loved as a kid and still love watching with my little kid. The music, illustrations, story, the little details and humor. The new remake sucks.

Yikes
17 January 2021
I watched it first and for that reason I quite enjoyed it. Yes the CGI sucked and it was quite cheesy but it was entertaining enough. Then I watched the originals and damn, compared to the originals this is just sad. I wish legacies was its own stand alone show because it's doing the originals (and VD which I'm watching now bc I like to do things backwards I guess) a great disservice. The acting, the story lines, everything is just so poor in comparison. I much preferred Hope as a baby. No wonder Klaus wants nothing to do with it.

Bad ending damn't
9 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Am I the only one who hates this? I know it's a hallmark movie and then bootlegger ghost looks like a Portland hipster so I shouldn't expect an Oscar-worthy film here but (SPOILER ALERT STOP NOW IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN IT AND WANT TO FOR SOME REASON) the ending is absolutely insane. I don't care if you prefer modern emotionally unavailable brunette lawyer ladies over a conventional 1920's housewife. If hipster ghost was so damn in love with his woman and found out she had stood up for him, had a baby and BOTH had tragically died after the childbirth, just after he was MURDERED and she NAMED THE BABY AFTER HIM then wtf is he choosing the modern feminist over his one true love after all these damn years apart- ONE HUNDRED YEARS- only to reunite and dismiss her? Why would he do that?? He would not. This is not a harlequin romance at least it shouldn't be, it had all the elements of something good including a very good looking man. So this ending alone is why I give this otherwise mediocre but not bad movie starring a hot hipster ghost just one star.
