A Tribute to the Showa Era
5 April 2024
First off understand this movie shouldn't be compared to Godzilla Minus One and is a movie based on the Legendary Monsterverse movies. Fans who are going to see this movie are going to see this movie usually because of the Showa era influence that the director Adam Wingard was going for with the flavor, and he did just that with this film in a more modern way.

I knew what I was in for when I saw the preview and having seen Godzilla vs. Kong I had a good idea the direction that this movie was going. The preview built up a lot of anticipation and I learned nothing was exactly as perceived from seeing the great looking interesting and action packed previews.

This movie is the movie I've been the most excited about seeing this year being a major Godzilla fan and I am pretty easy to please when it comes to these movies, and not the most critical of these kind of films. I am going to mainly focus on what I loved about it with out giving anything away that the previews didn't.

First off is how colorful the movie is and the theme of it being similar to 80's movies which there will be times where the great songs reflect that aspect of it. I really loved what they did with the music I had to go ahead and say. The hollow earth truly is a breathe taking world that reminds me of Pandora from Avatar and also similar to Indiana Jones with in it.

The movie is far more about the monsters than it is the humans compared to the previous movies and the human characters are more so used to speak for the monsters story where about midway through I enjoyed one of their roles the most in telling the monsters backstory, but I will have to say if this movie even was just the monsters I'd probably still be happy. The human characters however prove to have their place eventually to set the plot into motion, such as Gia who ends up playing a really important role.

The monsters truly are characters and have much personality who come with some humorous moments. Kong is like a Cowboy in a way and almost feels like Clint Eastwood to me. Skar King who is the orangutan villain you see in the preview really comes across as kind of an western villain with his attitude and mannerisms. Adam Wingard even said in the commentary from the previous movie that he saw Kong similar to a western character like Clint Eastwood that I thought was great inspiration to incorporate with Kong and Skar King in this movie.

The battles are what most people will be raving about and are a blast to watch go down in this movie and we're talking battles that have never been seen in a Godzilla movie before with much inspiration from wrestling and will please those kids at heart who enjoyed their Saturday morning cartoons. Again, we're talking Showa era inspired here.

I felt by the end the movie had much heart and I actually found it surprisingly, moving enough. It truly is a epic blockbuster to me, but one common complaint is how viewers would have liked to see more action and I for one wouldn't have minded that. I mean a good movie will have you asking for more and maybe that being the case is valid.

This movie is more Kong's story than anyone else with his human counterpart Gia mirroring his journey. Another common complaint is how people would have liked to see more of Godzilla, but with what you get to see with Godzilla left me satisfied enough, and room for what could come in another movie more focused on Godzilla, and potentially one last one from Adam Wingard that I would love to see from him.

I was real happy that I saw the movie in IMAX and would highly recommend it for families, as the kids will absolutely love this movie more than likely. It was what was so great about the Showa era movies. It's a great popcorn and soda movie that brings non-stop action with amusement and does have purpose one should understand by the end who gives it some more thought.

Primal (2019– )

A Must Watch for Fans of Animation or Not!
7 March 2024
Warning: Spoilers
First off I bought the complete Samurai Jack series on Blu-ray last year and by season 5 I experienced what Genndy Tartakovsky was capable of producing in the future and well, eventually I learned about this marvelous creation of animation.

I just bought season 1 and 2 of Primal on Blu-ray and if there was a option for 4K you best believe that I would have bought it, but after just witnessing it on Blu-ray I can say that wasn't necessary as well made and current it is.

I didn't quite know what I was in for, but I was warned that it was graphic, and mature audiences, not being called Primal for nothing! I get that it was the perfect name for this show and it goes beyond in how barbaric a cartoon can get, but it all makes sense, even though you may not like what you are seeing. It keeps your attention and you feel the raw emotion when it gets down and dirty.

If you ever aw a Quentin Tarantino movie or watched John Wick, well this is for you too. From the opening credits, especially of season 2, it reminded me of Kill Bill with how the credits came across the screen. I feel like Genndy probably is a fan of those movies and of course we got a taste of that from Samurai Jack really by season 5.

The show starts off barbaric enough and sets the tone that in this world its wild and dangerous. Right away the emotions set off Spear who almost takes his rage out on Fang and her babies mistaking her at first for the Dinosaur that his family met their demise by, but not when that Dinosaur comes quickly into the picture and they end up working together to fight together. Just when the babies show Spear some love after taking down the big bad dino's the really big bad comes out of no where and Fang like Spear's babies are its prey where Spear and Fang make sure to end him.

Then I found myself caring for both characters as they began to bond after the horrific incident. You see how they face the grief and Fang feels she needs Spear pushing herself on Spear and oh by the end of the first episode its bad to the bone with that last scene setting the series up!

The second episode shows how their relationship forms, but not very well at first as they get into a hunting competition that lightens things up, but all at the same time its so amusing that Genndy knows how to do with those classic cartoon moments. They work together better and better each episode and you genuinely feel the love for such a duo as their relationship strengthens.

The first season is one hell of a ride and kept me on the edge of my seat. They are all pretty insane, like Plague of Madness with a rampaging zombie Dinosaur that I never seen before, but oh The Night Feeder episode really was a thriller that genuinely was scary!

The last episode sets up things into motion going into season 2 where they will discover a whole new world and for me there is nothing like seeing the first episode of season 2 with some of my favorite scenes out in the ocean that were some of the most peaceful and beautiful, but only for so long...

The show really has so much heart behind the barbaric battles and wars the party eventually gets forced into and I will have to say the one episode that throws you for a loop, but was awesome is The Primal Theory that is inspired by classic horror which Genndy stated his influence for the series was also horror and that one episode is a testament to what he said especially, and gives us a taste of what could come in the future. Episodes like that is what Genndy is known for I can say from experiencing Samurai Jack.

Season 2 ends bitter sweetly and is satisfying for me making the point about the circle of life and through thick and thin it is what makes it shine. The animation, minor dialogue, raw emotion, sound effects and music is what makes this show stand out and I get why it has such high rating that it rightfully deserves that not even movies get as high of.

I can say that I didn't regret buying both seasons on Blu-ray that was well worth the purchase, and I am proud to own in my collection. After all, learning about the show and seeing the high rating here I knew that it likely would be worth it and besides I love the time period and whole idea of the caveman and T-Rex relationship appealing to my inner child.

This is for Marley Fans
29 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
First off, I'm already a fan of Bob Marley so I had extra excitement to see this movie. I heard some of the complaints about it beforehand, such as it not completely being factual, but I never completely base my decision to see a movie that I really want to see when it comes to some minor complaints with the movie that ain't that big of a deal when it comes to a biopic.

I'll go ahead and say what's best about the movie is the incorporation of the music and how they came up with the songs. One of my favorite moments was when Bob and some of the crew were talking to the record execs about the Exodus album cover that I got some laughs out of.

The moment when they went on tour after with the hit Exodus couldn't have been done more beautifully. I was getting emotional hearing the music and how it went orchestral. That moment for me was done so well. I really got the sense of success and felt the glory of that song among the fans worldwide.

For me Kingsley Ben-Adir did the job well being Bob Marley. I mean I really felt like I was going back in time seeing him as Bob giving me the vibe of Bob and oh his interactions with Lashana Lynch as Rita Marley really had me emotionally invested. Their love for each other through thick and thin was so beautiful. The chemistry definitely was stellar!

Who myself and others that enjoyed the movie, but had some complaints probably can agree about largely is wishing that the movie was longer because the performances were so good, and really left you wanting more. I would of enjoyed more moments highlighted of Bobs life, but I'm happy at all that us Marley fans got a movie at all.

I loved how Ziggy Marley introduced you to the movie that gave me a sense of more satisfaction knowing he was behind it before watching it and when the credits come on at the end you see many more members of the family were behind it, like Ziggy and Rita herself, but more surprisingly Brad Pitt!

For the record I have seen the 2012 documentary Marley and would highly recommend watching it before or after seeing this movie. It completely highlights his life and you can't beat it, but this movie is such a great addition and I can't believe that it actually didn't happen sooner.

Ever since seeing the preview at the theater last year I was amazed to see a movie about Bob Marley's life was coming to the big screen and I'm so thankful for what we got!

Godzilla Back The Roots
14 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This Godzilla went back to the original formula but with a new take and changed it up some while still honoring what made the very first original TOHO production so appealing.

This Godzilla is thee Godzilla for me when it comes to appearance seeing the Kaiju for the first time. We see the monster in a smaller form before the larger version in the rest of the movie that is satisfactory for me which I loved how we saw that unfold.

The story of the human characters affected by Godzilla starting with Koichi is what this movie is solely about and his journey to battle his regret as the story progresses with new challenges mentally to overcome and you feel his pain along with all the other great characters who make you feel seriously emotionally invested in all their roles.

The movie has its twist and turns and what I love about it is that it's not as predicable like so many American audiences have become use to. The human's story is so moving and let's put it this way Godzilla teaches everyone a lesson with all his fearsome might probably being not the biggest Godzilla, but to me like I said, the best version and it ain't like I didn't even like his appearance going back to the 1954 original.

By the end a lot will be left up to the imagination and make you wonder where it could all go afterwards which with as well as this movie has done world wide presents a possibility. My kudos to the director Takashi Yamazaki and the entire cast both on and behind the camera for going back to the roots paying homage and treating Godzilla and the characters among with the at most respect!

Don't Underestimate The Machine!
10 November 2023
So I finally have watched The Machine!

I knew about this movie from Bert on his podcast 2 Bears, 1 Cave and had got so stoked to learn about this movie, especially learning that Mark Hamill would be playing his father!

I meant to go see it in theater, but sadly it didn't last in theaters as long as I hoped and so I wasn't able to see it on the big screen. Now I can certainly say that after buying it on Blu-Ray I wish that I made a point to see it sooner in Theaters but then again I thought it would have a longer run in theaters and after watching it I say that it should have!

What matters is that I saw it and I'm so happy to own this movie on DVD which couldn't be more pleasing with the addition of the great special features. It's very well put together and looks great although if it was available on 4K I probably would have bought it on 4K but it looks really great on Blu-Ray.

The Machine has it all! It has the drama. It has the comedy. It has the action and at times violence that is in the horror category. It really blends it all so well together. It's such a well shot movie all around. I really love the looks of it. The lighting and at times how colorful it is.

I strongly feel that when it comes to modern comedies this is what we are missing more of! The writing was ingenious and it was all so well thought out. Bert really even amazed me in the action sequences and it was a pleasure to see how his relationship with Mark Hamill as his father grew amusingly and emotionally that at times made me actually tear up.

This is what a great action comedy does! It holds your attention and pulls out all the big guns! It is such a great time and was really so well done. I highly recommend it if you enjoyed a movie like The Immeasurable Weight of Massive Talent and definitely a fan of Bert Kreischer. Whatever you do. Don't underestimate The Machine!

Totally Worth Seeing on The Big Screen!
12 October 2023
This movie is thee one that I anticipated watching all year since I learned about it because of the subject matter and based off what I saw from the trailer I had a feeling there was more to this film than meets the eye.

I got to say that I got really excited when I heard the director of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was behind this movie who hasn't directed a movie since that one. I loved it so much and so had placed faith in his new film seeing it had been awhile since Gareth produced a movie. I wasn't disappointed but not left with the best feeling after seeing this film.

There's no doubt that it was a pleasure to see on the big screen. The audio just boomed and you felt immersed in this world although you might feel lost with the characters at times, but as the story progresses I found something that got my attention with some special moments that I even found somewhat amusing.

It's broke down into parts like chapters that I found different for a movie and my favorite part was when it got to "The Mother." The action picked up and you see the lead character meet up with his old comrades who are interconnected to the main plot of the movie advancing the story forward just fine.

By the end you may be thrown for a loop but I can't say it ends badly. It all depends on how you perceive it with this film and I say it's great to see a movie like this that can be thought provoking. There is other movies that come to mind before watching it, but with what's going on today with the subject of AI it was certainly entertaining to watch.

Thank God God's Children Are Served Justice
26 July 2023
First off, I am so glad that I learned about this movie and am glad that I follow some great independent media, lets just put it that way.

The first movie I saw this year was Indiana Jones and The Dial of Destiny which movies like that are what I go to the theater typically to see or even a good comedy but every now and then I like to see movies tackling serious issues that are also based off true stories or historical. This movie is definitely telling the miraculous story of a true hero in my eyes and the children who were rescued certainly.

I know this is a issue that is hard for people to bring themselves to see a movie about who do care about the this matter but it is PG-13 and you won't see anything graphic although at certain moments will get the idea. It was all so very well shot and even has some humorous moments that was well done with great music spanning genres.

The characters who end up fighting the good fight really grew on me and have their moments that get to you and make you respect them. The moments when the children do get recused are so beautifully done and will strike a cord with especially parents. It's what people want to see and again these children actually were saved!

I have the at most respect for Angel Studios for getting this movie in theaters and everyone behind and on screen who put their talents to good use to create a movie about a matter that does indeed need more awareness raised about it and I feel possibly lead to the United States government doing more to tackle the most disgusting heinous crimes who we know could make a difference leading to nearly ending it I would hope one day.

It doesn't matter if you are religious or not if you ask me which I'm not the most righteous person. This movie is a matter of justice being served and innocent children who went through some of the most horrific crimes that is unthinkable to everyday people and it's to be respected those who have went on dangerous missions to save the most innocent!

For What It Is.......
4 March 2012
For what it was this movie was good. Some may find their self's disappointed once they find out that this is no top notch horror slasher comedy which in my opinion, makes it all the more funny. It gets better as it goes on and there was some moments that I couldn't help but laugh. Its just hard to believe that this movie made it into a Blockbuster for the quality of movie it is. Usually home videos don't have the best quality but this really, "breaks the record!" It was surprising. Its just like a home made movie. For what it is I say it still may be worth a watch if you like movies like Friday. It also has some cool home made effects too that may impress you. It is pretty sexual explicit, there is plenty of cursing and smokin, Snoop Dogg style. So that pretty much sums it up I say.

Love Never Dies No (For real!)
20 April 2011
Well if you plan on watching this movie you are in for something else! The movie is based around this couple. The guy has a wealthy friend who lives in LA. His bud throws a birthday party for him at his pad, and he gets more than birthday presents. He gets an alien invasion because that is what it is, but this ain't your average alien take over movie, no.

I found myself holding on to the edge of my seat left and right. Its amazing the humanity in the movie. It shows just how strong the human spirit can be. You will find yourself loving the couple and just hoping they can make it through the chaos and cheer for them all the way. It may seem like they'll never make it, but like District 9 and Independence Day, you'll see what it takes. One thing you'll learn is how strong love can be for someone, that it never dies, no matter what.

I've never seen a movie quite like this before. You got a little bit of War Of The Worlds, Cloverfield, and District 9 in it. It also kind kind also reminds me of a video game called Resistance for the PS3. The creatures any way are a little bit like them.

I will warn you, if you don't want to be grossed out by what these alien creatures do in the movie, don't watch it, but it didn't bother me too much, it just grabs your attention all the more! I'd says its a really grotesquely wonderfully scary ride. If you have seen some of these modern horror movies it shouldn't bother you at all, and when you thinks its the end, it ain't. Don't turn the movie off until you see the credits roll.

Whats happens at the end is a must see. What was going on was pretty grotesque, but if you just watch it through, it will be worth it to see whats happens in the end in my opinion. Its just a movie after all. Its worth the watch! Not for everyone though, but for skeptics, give it a chance. You may or may not like it. ;-]Your bpoprocker review

Surprisingly Good for SyFy!
16 April 2011
I had no I idea if this movie would be worth watching or not, but me and my mom decided to get it. When she was reading to me what it was a bout at the Red Box I told her to get it.

The cast was amazing! Top notch acting I believe. They all had my attention and I found there characters all very likable, even the ones that I didn't think I would like eventually I found likable. Not to say there ain't ones you may not like.

You'll see the scenery in the movie is beautiful. It takes place about in mid South America, but was really shot in Louisiana. This creature you will see in the movie looks pretty amazing. This wasn't no typical SyFy movie. Give it a watch, its worth it!
