Panic (2021)
3/10
A convoluted story line; no sense at all
7 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
It was interesting at the beginning, but I ended watching it in fast forward out of my curiosity to check the end.

The story didn't make sense at all. The sheriff killed his son's girlfriend because was pregnant and then his own son to get money?

What was the secret of Bishop? What Dana has anything to do in that story? Who made her paralytic? What the other 4 or 5 deaths had anything to do with the story?

Who was the dead girl in the trunk of the stolen vehicle? There were characters completely irrelevant to the story, like the girl who dropped out because didn't want to take drugs, the other who was spying at Bishop's house and spent the whole day in the roof? The dialogs were cringey.

Holy Family (2022–2023)

Holy cr***!
20 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
At the beginning it was intriguing and interesting. Then the main character motivations turned out to be insane. The frequent plot twists make the episodes unbearable to watch. The extreme loyalty of Edu and the lack of character of Aitana towards her mother was insufferable. The "Thelma & Louise" ending didn't make any sense at all. The only character that was enjoyable was Alba Flores, that although was a cynical assassin, she was adamant to return the baby to its real mother. The other thing I noticed is this series at the end used a recurrent theme from the Dark series.

This was a convoluted ode to motherhood. If they would concentrate the story about the depressed woman who felt abandoned by her husband because they didn't know how to deal with their son, would be a better story, because it reenacts perfectly the lyrics from the song of the Spanish music band Mecano, "Hijo de la Luna" (Son of the moon). She literally sacrificed her son to get her husband's attention back; putting her womanhood first and her motherhood last.

A bad mix of old movies and cliché dialogs
2 March 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This movie looks like a bad mix of: -Casper (the attic and the ghost), -ET (the attachment of the kid to the ghost), -Ghostbusters, (the guns to neutralize the ghost), -Project X (the relationship between the agent and the captured ghost to make experiments with him and then release him),
  • The Frighteners (the silly interactions from the ghosts and the people)
-Back to the Future (come scene takes and camera angles)

The only good performances were from the Ghost, the Medium and the Kid. They did what they could with a terrible script.

It seems nowadays film productions are running out of good ideas and lack of a coherent storytelling.

A good psychological thriller
16 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
What I like about this thriller is it's subtle ambiguity. At the beginning you don't know the intentions from the writing assistant. The way the camera works and her acting sometimes suggest she is genuinely innocent, others that she exploits this quality to her favor to seduce the old man. She actually tried to introduce her little sister to the house, getting a a cold an distant silence from Pauli's mother. I really love the dialog between the reporter and the writer, where the latter one plays with his mind and this the audience when he paints a portrait of the former assistant as a deranged woman obsessed with him. I hated the end, because it doesn't add up after all this tragedy Valentina didn't believe her older's sister, but apart of this detail, I love the subtlety of how the film plays with the audience with the characters' point of view at different timelines. Highly recommended film.

Pieces of Her (2022)

Flat, dull, disappointing
7 March 2022
When I started to watch this series I felt enthusiastic because Tony Collette is one of my favorite actresses of all time. Whatever she is in, she is great, but unfortunately the script was flat, dull, and the overall result is a disappointing and boring show.

1. I did not like the younger version of Jane, they do not have any resemblance at all.

2. Some characters aging were extreme in comparison to others.

3. I don't know if I missed it, but the scar on her neck was never explained.

4. Most action sequences were ridiculous and unbelievable.

5. The story was quite confusing.

6. Andy and the US Marshall were really annoying characters.

1 because I'm unable to rate it as -10
20 February 2022
I wasted 1 hour 47 minutes of my life. I end watching the second half of this mess in fast forwarding just out of the curiosity to see how this would end. Worst movie I've ever saw after "Mother!"

The Quintessential B Movie
31 May 2021
Weird, absurd characters, absurd script and the worst decoration, and wardrobe choices. Nevertheless, entertaining. Audrey Plaza is perfect for this type of movie.

I didn't know what was this movie really about...
1 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
*SPOILERS* A lot of plot holes; the anorexic/bulimia cause is never explained.

A guy that recently moves with his family just cheats with the first girl he finds attractive.

The backstory of the brothers who used to live in the house never explained properly.

The wife leaves her daughter to be babysit by two male strangers.

I was not clear about the whole ghosts story.

The creepy game with the hands the husband did to her wife's friend.

I didn't understood the relationship between the brothers and the mistress (were they siblings or what?).

The sudden death of the wife, she fell ill in the snow for no reason; was she was poisoned with the protein shakes the whole time? Never explained this either.

Why the husband went to sail at the end?

This movie never decided what was all about. Worst script and edition ever.

Uga Uga (2000–2001)
Funny Spiced Mix!
16 March 2004
Uga Uga is a funny spiced mix with a bit of "Tarzan", "Runaway Bride", "The Fugitive", "The Fight Club", "Mr. Magoo" and a lot of movies or series I can't recall. Besides an incredible (and sometimes absurd) story, this soap opera shows different aspects of the Brazilian society, including real amazonic indians, amazing landscapes and great actors with convincing performances. If you want to see romance, action, comedy, thriller and drama together, surely you should see this soap opera.
