Scream (2022)
Watch the first one
***potential spoilers***
When the first 'Scream' film came out it was new, it was exciting, it was self-referential, a knowing nod to the slasher films that had gone before, a wink to the audience almost saying we know you know who the "killer" is, in the first 10 minutes, and no one had laid out the genre in as much context before this.
While it was nice to see the same cast back in action, the film laid the ground work for second, second guessing, but those of us who where fans of the original film knew who the killer was as soon as they appeared on screen, and so then it was just a countdown to the "third act" as to when they would be "unmasked".
If you're going to follow the rules of a horror film, then break them, then break them again, it only seems obvious with the potential start of a knew franchise to hit the reset button and start again... and follow the same rules...
If you don't know the 'Scream' films... enjoy!
If you've seen at least 1 'Scream' film you will know whodunnit...
The Parent Trap II (1986)
CLASSIC 80s Disney Americana
I recorded this film from the television in the 80s without knowing about the original at the time. I watched over and over and loved the life the girls had with trips to the mall, their 80s stereos and telephones in their bedroom and wanted the same thing.
I recently purchased the film on DVD (in a double feature with the original film) and relived the nostalgia, and was not disappointed.
Is it as good as the original? No
Is it the best Disney film ever? No
But if you are a person of a certain age who grew up in the 80s with The Wonderful World of Disney or The Disney Club, this film won't fail to bring a wry smile to your face.
Single All the Way (2021)
Cute
I enjoyed this film for what it was, a cute, Christmassy, feel good film.
It is by no means perfect, and disjointed in parts, and as with this type of film, very predictable, but if you are willing to accept that, then it'll put you in the Christmas mood!
The App That Stole Christmas (2020)
Not very good
Running at just over an hour, this is more a TV special than a movie.
It has the right intentions (presence not presents) but it fails in its execution!
The acting, writing and story as a whole are very sub-par and with the dominance of the soundtrack feels more like a vehicle to promote/ sell the music.
I'd wait until you have seen every other film on your streaming service before you watch this.
