a neighborhood, or more than that
10 May 2013
Once there was a small neighborhood , may the tale begin. I was wiped in the story very easily and became one of the fans in two weeks. It was funny, Derya Alabora was very funny , however it also made me cry several times on the other hand.I deeply remember Hasibe Erener's character, her hopeless and stuck in her family life and how her feeling hurt by watching other girls relations with boys... Füsun Demirel, Toprak Sergen and with all other characters, Şaşıfelek Çıkmazı was more than a neighborhood, it was like a little model of my country. It was a time that we all were young and beautiful... It was a time that all thing were able to corrected if we hold each other hands...It was a good time. It was a good thing to watch on TV...

Teyzem (1986)

a poetic story with oriental blues
24 September 2009
I was around 13-14 when I first watched "teyzem" and I was stoned with the look of Mujde Ar and this movie became one of the best movies I have ever seen. I love the pureness of Umur and his native love to his aunt. And behind their relationships, a criticize to family relationships, a beautiful panorama of Istanbul and the beauty of Mujde Ar keeps the follower to watch the movie until the end. I am not sure if you would be able to find a DVD including English subtitles but if you would be able to find, I believe that moviegoers will also put this movie in the first numbers of their best of movie lists. I can recommend the movie with all my heart. (apologizes for my English, this is the best ı can write:)

two sides of the coins
24 September 2009
Ucurtmayi Vurmasilar is a movie having two deep perspectives. On one hand, movie is about a child, living in prison and trying to learn about the world by just the talking of his mothers and other women prisoner and gaining experiences only when his mother is going to court of justice.the soldier bringing him and his mother to the court becomes a hero in his mind and sharing and eating a "simit" (savory roll covered with sesame seed) with him becomes the most important moment of his childhood.Watching him to grow in this environment gives a hopeless and sad feeling to the watcher. But, on the other hand, being loved and cared about a group of women effects his personality.Being parted from men's world gives a very gentile and sensitive character to Baris, he is open to all emotions and his feelings are given openly during the scenario. And also the move gives many information about the justice system of Turkey and about the 12 September period of Turkey's history. The movie gives too many information about Turkey. I can recommend the movie as a documentary also.
