Drug Lords (2018)
Discrepancy
Very interesting docu series but there is a discrepancy between the Cali Cartels and Pablo Escobar episodes. In the Cali Cartel episode, it was documented that it was an operation by Cali Cartels that lead to Escobar's demise but when you watch the Escobar episode there were no mention of the Cali Cartels throughout the whole documentary. That was just very confusing or maybe I was missing something.
The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez (2020)
"A Single Death Is A Tragedy"
I have watched COUNTLESS documentaries and this is by far the saddest and most heartbreaking one I've seen. I think this is what Stalin means when he says, "a single death is a tragedy..." A tragedy that is impossible to comprehend even by the individuals who did it.
6 Underground (2019)
Disappointing
At 10 minutes in, a movie should already have you intrigued. At 22 minutes I stopped the movie because I was not intrigued. I gave the movie a chance because of Michael Bay but I know Netflix cannot produce a highly acclaimed movie and this is another proof even with a great director and a great cast. Only thing Netflix is good at is putting great trailers.
Rambo: Last Blood (2019)
Overkill
Some action movies needs a strong story to be good, Rambo: Last Blood is an exception and that absolutely wasn't a problem.
Chernobyl (2019)
Unparalleled
This is one of the best miniseries to ever be televised. It's heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. Each and every character was well played. I can understand that secrecy can prevent panic, chaos and preserve power but it's sad that so many people got hurt because the truth was withheld.
Capharnaüm (2018)
Sony Picture Classics
This movie does not deserve a bad review. A very brilliant movie that'll break your heart. That's all I have to say.
Triple Frontier (2019)
Not as advertised
One thing Netflix can do better than every other production company is sell a movie with a trailer. They sure know how to make a spectacular trailer but this movie was not as advertised, I can tell you that. A very poor movie in every sense of the word. Promising start but an overall weak story, weak screenplay and because of that the action is quite "weak".
Den skyldige (2018)
Guilty, until proven innocent
What we perceive isn't what is always so and this movie is one such example. Who is truly the monster? We have to go by the tone of voice but that is where our perception gets us. This movie teaches us to have an open mind and not judge just by the tone of someone's voice.
I have a passion for foreign language films and I strive to watch the best of the best and this movie is on that list. If you're an intellect, this movie will not disappoint.
Bird Box (2018)
The Happening 2
I was hoping this movie was different from The Happening. I was hoping for that big twist to make this movie spectacular, to set it apart but it never came. Cinematics are A class but the story lacks something that gives you a sense of triumph at the end of a movie like this.
Arrival (2016)
Very disappointing Arrival...Close the door!!
There are some movies that I know I won't like after I watch the trailer but still watch because of the cast. This was one of such movie. I know I would be left clueless at the end of the movie and I indeed was...
I didn't get the relationship with the daughter and how it helped the movie. I thought the flashback scenes would give some clue to what was going on with the aliens because the other scenes didn't. The acting is foolproof but the story made absolutely no sense.
We get that the aliens weren't violent in nature but how exactly did they help humanity? And how will humanity help them in 3000 years. Certainly, the almost two-hour long movie didn't answer that question.
I didn't expect much from this movie but I watched it nonetheless to prove that it was no good.
Im Labyrinth des Schweigens (2014)
Different POV...and it's very interesting
For years I've been watching films from the "Allies" point of view and I never thought of the German point of view or I just assumed German people knew of the atrocities committed by their fellow men.
Its amazing and heartbreaking to know that Germans actually didn't know or chose to not believe what the Nazis were doing to the Jews during WWII.
We were made to believe also that all the Nazis were living in hiding after WWII, when some of them were actually living in relative comfort and free from scrutiny, among some of the people they tortured.
Labyrinth of Lies is the film that gives us a look of how the Germans were actually living in denial for years after the war and how some of the Nazis that committed war crimes were living their normal lives as if nothing had happened.
Very interesting film and very easy to understand if you know the history.
The Fear of 13 (2015)
Definition of Real Storytelling
I've watched many documentaries about crime and listened to people who have committed crimes.
I don't usually rate documentaries because they provide different information that is important across the board and I can't put a rating on that.
This is my first ever review and the reason why I chose to review this film is because it's one of the most captivating and detailed story I've ever listened to, about crimes someone have committed. Throughout the film, I kept asking myself, why is this (former) prisoner so good at storytelling and why was he in prison, it is almost like you almost can't believe that the story actually happened because of the way he was conveying it. The cinematics were just enough to compliment Nick Yarris' story which made it all together very engaging and beautiful. Even though he went back and forth in history while he told his story, it was still easy to understand because it all came together as he spoke.
A wonderful story that everyone should hear.
