Charlie Chopra & The Mystery of Solang Valley (2023)
Disjointed, Damp and Dull
The premise is well laid and the canvas is wide and beautiful, with a slew of good actors introduced in the first episode itself. Location is brilliant, with occasional snowy views
Details are disappointing. Everyone hams and overacts, with Naseeruddin Shah his real life family thrown in for good measure. Noone seems too interested in doing good acting, and the Director seems to have dozed off whist an intern did his job for him.
Lead character does justice to her character, but doesn't seem to establish a warm connection with others.
Overall, abrupt/illogical twists and inadequate character development mar this sub-par series beyond redemption.
Paurashpur (2020)
Utter nonsense...if you are gonna make smut, at least make it watchable
1 star, because there is no option to vote any less...No sane person should be wasting a minute of theirs on this load of BS. I know the lockdown brought it's challenges, but the accomplished actors/semi-actors agreeing to be part of this atrocity need to assess their options much more carefully. This series is criminally bad
Breathe: Into the Shadows (2020)
One Word - Preposterous
Couldn't be more pointless and shabby. Writing thrillers cant be about convenience of plot. Writers have been very lazy and took every convenient turn to hastily tie up loose ends.
Paatal Lok (2020)
Completely worth one's time - Lockdown or not
Right from the word go, a fabulous story...balances the storylines of elite, middle class and the underbelly very well...
BOSS: Baap of Special Services (2019)
Shockingly bad
Saw episode 1 after looking at the ratings, and there's no way I am watching any more of it. I am convinced that Ekta Kapoor forefeits salaries of her staff if they rate any alt Balaji shows less than 10.
Caricaturist, amateurish and completely lacking creativity. This show is a cheap and boring rehash of every horrible Bollywood/Hollywood movie or detective series we have ever seen. Production values are low, dialogues are corny, direction is worse than low-qual bhojpuri music videos and actors are sub-par. Plot is wafer-thin and viewer is assumed to be a moron. That may be ok though. Anyone rating this mess more than 1 needs therapy. Avoid like plague...
Ghoul (2018)
Utterly crappy
Its not a proper horror flick, nor an entertaining experience. Had it been released as a movie instead of a forced web series without the Netflix branding, IMDB rating would have been much lower. I am sure no distributors agreed to release this crappy piece as a movies, and Netflix decided to polish the turd as a series. I feel cheated. 120 valuable mins of my life down the drain....
Netflix is putting through a lot of effort to showcase this one as a success. After the fabulous 'Sacred Games', this one not only disappoints, but leaves a bad taste in the mouth.
