Haunted Mansion (2023)
Absolutely loved it
I'm a big fan of haunted mansion and I loved this adaptation. The storyline was really good. I actually cared about the characters and I cannot say the same for the last haunted mansion movie. There were times I forgot I was watching a movie based on a Disney ride. I thought the special effects were incredible, I loved the comedy, I even jumped at one point in the movie and I'm a horror film fanatic. I think every cast member did an amazing job and really sold their character. They played their roles perfectly. The references to the ride were also done perfectly. The walls rising in the room was my favorite part. I do not understand the low reviews at all. Highly recommend.
Barbie (2023)
Loved everything about it
I think Barbie has always been about women empowerment and I'm glad there's a Barbie movie that doesn't tiptoe around it to spare feelings. This movie was not marketed towards kids, it was clearly meant for adults who grew up with Barbie. It's an important message and it was told well. The cinematography was also incredible. Loved the costumes, the casting, everything about it. Margot played a literal perfect Barbie. I loved the scene where she was supposed to be "ugly" and the narrator made a joke about Margot being the wrong person to cast if you wanted to make an ugly scene with her. Ryan gosling also have an amazing performance as Ken. Even when he was being a douche he still came across lovable.
The Night House (2020)
Brilliant slow burn horror
The acting, the storyline, the atmosphere, everything was incredible.
Cruella (2021)
Everything was perfect
I didn't go into this movie with high expectations. I am not a huge Disney fan but I love Emma Stone. I was blown away by this movie. I'm pretty sure I can call it one of my new favorites. I noticed so many things I don't usually notice in movies. I'm definitely not a film expert but every single detail was just so good. The set designs were beautiful, the baroness' mansion was amazing. I loved the moody, dark lighting. The costumes were INCREDIBLE. The costume designer better win some kind of award for this. The acting was *perfect* from every single person in the movie. I kept forgetting it was a movie and not just them living their lives. I even loved that the dogs were cgi because it was fun seeing all the personality in their facial expressions. The change in the storyline was also brilliant in my opinion. People always complain that movies are boring and they just keep remaking the same old stuff but then they also complain when they take a drastically different approach. I love that they showed cruella from another perspective. It would've been boring to just see the same thing in a new live action. I'm probably going to watch this movie 10 more times before it's out of theater. 10000% recommend.
Paradise City (2021)
So so bad
I wanted to like this. I love almost every actor in it and was excited to watch. But it's just terrible. The acting is atrocious, the script is hilarious but not because it's trying to be, the plot is non existent. All these great actors but they can only do so much with the script they're given. The girl who played Gretchen is hands down the worst actress I've ever seen. Eva Marie is hot af but cannot act at all. I just.. I don't understand how this show ended up on television.
P-Valley (2020)
Trash
The casting of Isaiah Washington further drags this show into the dumps.
The Autopsy of Jane Doe (2016)
One of the best horror movies I've seen in a long time
I absolutely love horror movies but I have a hard time finding any that actually scare me. This one had me sleeping with a night light on. If you are a fan of horror movies DO NOT miss this one!
What Men Want (2019)
Great movie
Taraji is hilarious, she plays this role perfectly. I loved this much more than the original. It was great to see it from the other perspective.
