A.K.A Nadia (2015)
Well that's two hours I'm not getting back...
Very slow, what could have been covered in 20 minutes took almost two painstaking hours. An interesting premise but too many gaps in the plot and a number of unresolved issues in the end. Opportunities for development in the lives of the principle characters during the period coveted by the film were lost. Too bad!
Score: A Film Music Documentary (2016)
Behind the scenes look at the development of film music from the beginning
Interesting look at how music has been created for film and how it has changed over time. The film features interviews with many of the great composers and an insight into the music making process to create film scores.
Enjoy this look into arguably the biggest contributor to the mood of many of the films we have enjoyed over the years!
Act of Valor (2012)
Outstanding, fast moving and entertaining! 10/10
Outstanding, fast moving and entertaining film with great cinematography and an engaging storyline throughout. Do not wait for the DVD release - see it on the big screen, you won't be sorry.
This film takes the audience right into the world of Navy Seals without any grandiose pretense or affectation. It just tells the story as it is. Unlike some films, one feels that one is in the movie, in the field of action as it happens. You are there, in the action, not just watching it unfold.
This is authentic story telling at its best. Be ready for 2 hours that will take your breath away and hold your attention completely.
CSI: Crime Scene Investigation: A Kiss Before Frying (2011)
Andrew Howard as a South African
As an ex-South African who has been living in Los Angeles for over 24 years, I thought Andrew Howard did an outstanding job depicting a South Arican, so I was curious to see if he is South African. Apparently not - born in Cardiff, Wales, without any mention of his having spent time in South Africa at all. So how did he know to use the term "oke" when referring to the unidentified man to whom he said he had sold his truck? This is only a term a South African would know and I don't think I have ever heard it used in a non-South African show which depicts South Africans.
Good job, oke!
