Hot Rod (2007)

"My name is Rod and I like to Party" - Favourite Movie!
7 January 2010
This is by far in my top three best and funniest movies! An absolutely hilarious film guaranteed to make you laugh out loud.

Andy Samberg (from Saturday Night Live) plays Rod Kimble an aspiring stuntman trying to live up to his dead father's legacy, unfortunately he lacks the necessary aspect: any talent whatsoever. But backed by supportive friends.

Along with Lonely Island best friends Akiva Shaffer as director and Jorma Taccone as his step-brother team up to create this great comedy equals pure awesomeness! And Bill Hader as a friend and fellow team member Dave made me laugh so much too! From the most epic fall down a hill, safe word "WHiskey," Satan for a stepfather, killer dance moves and a Tai-Chi move guaranteed to make a grown man crap his pants and not know why. Hot Rod is quite the adventure. I would love to live in a town like that.

And after this movie you probably won't be able to look at stunting or mopeds the same way again.

Be sure to rent or buy this movie and the extras are pretty awesome.

An original timeless wonderful film
7 January 2010
I first saw this in an English class a few years ago having heard it was a film I would enjoy and boy were they correct! I bought it a couple of weeks after. It's quite timeless, my dad said how he'd seen it 20 years ago and loved it just the same.

It's such a different quirky original movie that is hard to get tired of. From Harold's unexpected antics - "sucide attempts," his mother's ignorance towards a son who would love nothing more than some attention from her, some bad blind dates and then there's Maude.

It involves a lonely rich different type young man with too much apparent time on his hands and lacking a purposeful life. After meeting Maude at funerals where he goes for fun, his life is opened up by this free spirited older women who shows him love in its true form (not in any cheesy way at all) and a well-lived life.

It's so classic and quite funny - thoroughly enjoyable.

"A lot of people enjoy being dead. But they are not dead, really. They're just backing away from life" Maude says so many perfect quotes that define humanity and in fact Harold's life up until then.

And the Cat Stevens soundtrack, so perfect, complete with feel-good catchy songs you can't help singing for days. <3 "zoos are full, prisons are overflowing. ah, my. how the world still dearly loves a cage" A Fantastically unforgettable loving comedy with a great message - a must see for everyone!

Love this!!
7 January 2010
I've never read the books but am a very huge fan of the show! It's SOo addictive!! And the ending that we were left with before the holiday plus break was unfair! Of course it's hard not to compare it to Twilight but I would say in comparison to the movies much better. The graphics: them fighting, the eyes when they're all hungry or passionate... And definitely not lame in relation to some of the cheesy aspects or dialogue. The cast is pretty cool too. It's nice to see Ian Somerhalder back on TV again: he's a fox. And pretty witty sometimes too. And Paul Wesley is a great Stefan (glad seeing more of him too since his very brief character on the "O.C.") and wow holy abs! It also comes equipped with a pretty fantastic soundtrack. Can't wait for its return, I've probably watched all the reruns like 4 times. And I'm curious as to what's going to happen when Ian is off in Hawaii for LOST.
