Mind Games (2014)
I can't give it a rating...
The premise of the show sounded REALLY amazing to me- Leverage with a bit of The Mentalist, House of Lies and a few other elements taken from other TV Shows- I was in for a good ride... I was mistaken.
The pilot was fairly decent. Introduced the brothers and a bit of the back story to get the viewers interested in the characters themselves. It was very loud and chaotic but not too much that it would make the show seem completely unwatchable.... and then I watched the second episode, well, part of it at least; I don't think I can finish it.
There is just TOO much chaos. The eccentric and bipolar brother is just completely out there, very loud and obnoxious to the point where you start to feel embarrassed for the rest of the cast. It's completely ridiculous! So much broken glass, unorganized schemes that go nowhere because one of the brothers completely ruins it and all in all, just a bunch of chaos.
I'd stay away from this one. I'm going to try to finish the second episode but I doubt I'll make it through it.
Banshee (2013)
Such an AMAZING Pilot
I was at work earlier today when I was reading random articles online and I heard of a new show on Cinemax so I decided to check out the trailer. Needless to say, it gained my attention.
The premise is a bit "eh" if you know what I mean, but once you actually start to watch it, you're hooked.
The overall plot, the bad guys, the protagonist, so far everything about this show.
You, yes, YOU, should DEFINITELY check this show out.
When a pilot is good, it typically leads for an amazing season and series.
The Cabin in the Woods (2011)
It's official, never trusting another user review from IMDb
This movie was so extremely terrible. So terrible that writing about it makes me forget how to properly use the English language.
I'm so upset that I talked myself into watching this movie because of all of "HIGH" the USER REVIEWS this movie got. I can't believe I wasted almost 2 hours of my life.
Take it from me, this movie is horrible. Don't watch it. It's not scary. It's stupid and more messed up once you actually think about the actual plot. The concept in itself could be REALLY good if it's done right, but they ruined it.
That's it; I'm done.
Don't watch this movie.
Continuum (2012)
Pretty Good First Episode
OK, not going to lie; going into the first episode, I was a bit...uneasy. The first ten minutes was just more of an "Eh, whatever" type of thing. Luckily, as the episode continues, it gets better.
I'm sure we've all seen this type of show before, unfortunately, I can't think of any ones at the moment. Nonetheless, it really takes off.
Once you get passed the HORRIBLE dialogue and the emotionless expressions and speech, the characters actually start to take a turn for the best. The action sequences aren't at all bad, nothing really disappointing about them.
All in all, I can't wait to check out another episode.
Common Law (2012)
Easily A Great Turnaround For USA Network
I LOVE USA Network. I mean lets face it, Psych, Burn Notice, Suits, White Collar, etc. But they've also had a few horrible shows. Covert Affairs anyone? HORRIBLE! I forced myself to watch that and still couldn't pay attention to its horrible plot. Either way, I'm getting off topic.
Common Law is an AMAZING show. Not too many shows/movies can make me bust out laughing while I'm watching them by my lonesome. This, however, does an amazing job at that.
Of course the overall plot has been done before; what hasn't, it's TV. You're bound to run out of ideas sooner or later. The white guy with a black sidekick or vice versa has been already, but regardless of that, this does a great job at entertaining. I can't wait to see more.
Overall, Common Law is a great show, great characters, as far as I can tell from the first 2 episodes, great relationships between the two main characters and the Couples Counseling thing is just hilarious.
DEFINITELY WORTH THE TIME!
Freerunner (2011)
Splode my head now please.
I'm about 50 minutes into the movie and I can't get passed their voicing. I mean seriously, it's like they're all reading from the same script as they're going. It's pretty bad. And don't get me started on the girlfriend; she can't even speak proper English. The main character, Sean Faris, I've seen him in multiple other movies and he's done a good job, not so much great, but good job at the roles he's played. Never Back Down, awesome movie IMO, Forever Strong, same deal. But this, OMG, this is movie is completely unbearable.
It takes about 40 minutes for the movie to even take off and at that point, its halfway over with.
The only thing that's keeping me even remotely interested is the fact that I'm a slight fan of Sean Faris and I love Parkour.
Overall, movie is horrible. Horrible Effects, Horrible Voicing. Horrible Actors. Horrible Plot. Horrible Looking 'Hot Chick' etc.
Castle (2009)
Everything you need in Dramedy, plus more.
Wow. That's pretty much all I can really say. Everything about this show, well, maybe with the exception of a few of the characters who seem to be dull, is amazing. Nathan Fillion is hilarious, smart, witty and extremely talented. On top of everything, he's a family man; you don't get too many stories where the main character is an actual good guy.
Stana Katic also does a great job at being the strong female figure who takes charge with her no BS attitude. Although you can see her rooting for Team Castle.
Only four episodes in and I find myself already so hooked on this show. I can't wait to see the twists and turns that's in store throughout the rest of the season and series.
Psych (2006)
One of the GREATEST shows I've ever had the pleasure of watching.
I rarely actually watch TV. I usually get on Netflix or download certain TV series when I'm bored. And recently, I've found myself watching A LOT of USA Network TV series. Burn Notice, White Collar, etc. My friend started watching this and suggested I watched it as well. At first I was just hesitant, not really sure why. But then after a few days, I started to dive into it and I found myself in love with this show. Its like one of the ONLY shows that can actually make me laugh while sitting in a room by myself. And I mean ACTUALLY LAUGH OUT LOUD and not regret it.
The relationships in this series are pure and genuine and just continue to grow on you. Each character's individual personality shines in every episode.
It has the perfect mix of comedy, drama, romance, and thrills in each episode to make you come back for more. I cannot wait for season 6. USA Network is amazing.
Oh and one more thing.
All of the references in each episode to something in pop culture is just amazing. He fits it in so well, like no other.
No questions about it, Psych is by far one of the greatest shows ever created. Something you would NOT want to pass up.
Daybreakers (2009)
Wow... I can't find the words...
Myself and a few friends, who happen to be HUGE friends of Vampires and their legends, attended the opening night of this film. And unfortunately, we were HIGHLY disappointed.
The ONLY thing that was good about this film was the fact that Ethan Hawke is a good actor. The story of was a bit predictable. A vampire scientist who's trying to find a blood substitute so that his race wont die out, wants to give up being a vampire because of some human chick. At the end everyone dies except him and the chick. How predictable.
All around, it was a waste of ten bucks, and two hours of my life. Oh can't forget about the line that I had to wait in to get into the theater. All in all, do NOT go see this movie.
The Vampire Diaries (2009)
Great Vampire Story
My girlfriend got me hooked to this show. Classic love story for a high school girl, with a twist of supernatural beings. GREAT series.
I'm a HUGE fan of Twilight; the story, the characters, their relationships with one another was, is just simply amazing. Stephanie Meyer did a great job with her story. But the only thing that I did not like about it was her taking away from the legends.
The Vampire Diaries offers it's viewers the "Twilight" love story, the danger of being around the supernatural and it leaves all of the legends somewhat accurate, if not perfect. In my opinion, this is one of the best Vampire stories that I've seen/read in a long time. If you're a fan of the supernatural, love stories and vampires in general, you need to take a day and watch this series.
