Vampires (1998)
Great Vampire movie!
This is not the best vampire movie I have ever seen, and not the worst. The weapons and methods used to kill the vampires are quite inventive. The crossbow attached to a cable, that pulls the vampires into the sun was great. I have enjoyed James Woods work since Videodrome. Daniel Baldwin plays a good sidekick, but does not have the acting ability of his brother Alex. Thomas Ian Griffith makes the perfect master vampire, the white contacts is a nice touch. The music by Carpenter is enjoyable as it is in most of his movies. There are some really good effects, such as when the master vampire cuts one of the hunters in half, using only his fingernails. If nothing else this flick is worth seeing just to get a look at Sheryl Lee's rear!
Severed (2002)
I made better movies when I was 13 with an 8MM.
I also only could stand the first 10 minutes of this movie. It is flicks like this that make Plan 9 From Outer Space look like Gone With The Wind. It appears that the budget for this was spent on fake blood and the flashlight the two cops use to look for the killer.

Did I watch the same movie?
The reviews I read said that this was the most frightening movies ever made, that people couldn't sleep without the lights on. After watching this I wondered if I had rented the same movie. The scary parts never appeared. The makeup by Rick Baker was good, from what little was shown, and the girl coming from the TV was good. But scary, I think not. If you want to really be scared watch The Exorcist alone in the dark.
