Rizzoli & Isles: Ocean Frank (2016)
Sappy shallow end to what started as a smart savvy show
R&I started as a smart savvy detective story. First they degraded the supposedly intelligent ME into a shallow ridiculous fashion-shoe collecting bimbo; then this last year the whole show skipped what made it interesting and turned it into a soap-opera. Too bad -- obviously changed the people in charge. This last show was the WORST. I continued to try to watch, since I had been watching for years, but it became painful. This show had no intelligence or substance - just sappy; shallow; nothingness. Too bad.
I've seen this happen with other shows. Maybe the good writers get bored and move on? Maybe they just run out of ideas? Maybe they back-fill with people who think Hollywood priorities match those in the real world? But intelligent professional women who have worked hard for multiple degrees don't dress in stiletto heels & fancy clothes to crime scenes. The show became too ridiculous to continue.
Numb3rs: Devil Girl (2010)
Missed their chance to kill off Nikki
Show starts with Colby and Nikki in a car accident. If they had taken advantage and gotten rid of the Nikki character here, they may not have been canceled. Too bad. Adding her character appears to be part of a strategy to widen the audience by dumbing-down the show. As a tip-of-the-hat to the regular audience, they said she had a law degree, but then they had her talk like a thug and act like a narrow-minded redneck -- Poor decision that hurt the show. Instead of gaining a new audience, they lost the old. Now they're canceled. If they had just killed her off in this show, they could have rescinded this bad decision and added an intelligent female role. Too bad!
